Yeah, I didn't think so. Figured it was worth offering tough. :D
I could have just said it was mine.... you'd have to ignore the palm trees in the background though.

Spotted on 400 last Sun while I was going home. Yelled at the guy and asked him if it was one of the press vehicles. He said no, and that he was the owner.

That license plate makes me wonder ... ARRM 054 ... there's a pic of a press vehicle whose plate is ARRM 052. Here is a link to a lot of pics of the press vehicles. Apparently, this guy who does the review on this site got to drive every single one. There is a good pic of each press vehicle in each of the available colours.

I went to teh Mazda Delarship to finalize the sale on my Rx8 today and the sales person told me he saw the same one. He also followed it and asked the guy the same thing. He said he had a relative that works at mazda canada. He let him borrow the car for the night. He had the black Rx8 because they were doing somthing for press.

My dealer called today.
Went down, and drove my Winning Blue 8!

Drove it for about 3 hours, then took it back.
It will sit in the showroom at Jarman Mazda for the next month.
Why? Cruel irony. I leave town tomorrow..
When I left the dealers tonight, a small tear appeared.

I cried too.

I love it. Everything "fits"
Everything feels very right.

WOW! That's gorgeous! I really thought long and hard about getting blue. It would have been a no-brainer for me if it had come with a black/blue interior.

How did you get your car already? You must be the first one! Congrats! I don't understand though, why is it going to sit at the dealership? Why don't you take it home and let it sit at home for a month? I wouldn't trust it sitting at the dealership like that.

I put a lot of pressure on Mazda Canada, and the dealer to some degree. Maybe somebody thought of me?
They got two cars today, mine and a yellow one.
As soon as they got it they called me.
It had basic prep, but not even washed yet.
They knew I am leaving tomorrow, so this was my only chance to drive it for a month.
The dealer is going to have it (locked) in his showroom, so I don't have to worry about it getting stolen or vandalized.
I don't have to pay for insurance for that month either.
And, no chance my 20 year old can borrow it!

And if he gets some use from showing it off, more power to him. They have been quite decent to me so far.
I paid list, no doc fees, and they included Ming treatment in the price.
Seems fair, I think.

Congrats! Break out the cigars! I LOVE HER, SHE IS STUNNING!!! Possibly the first RX-8 puchaced in Canada!

:( :( Hate to hear you have to leave her :( :(

Sound's like you had a great relationship with a great dealer, and that that seems to make it so much more delightful!! Customer delight? They seem to be nailing that one!

I hope that they respect her- and profesionally detail her to perfection for when you return, as they are going to sell a lot cause I'm guessing not to many are going to be on the showroom floor, anywhere.

(Asside: IMHO: I think us canadain buyers should try to cultivate a healty realtionship with our dealers (It's been fun for me) it just makes the whole thing more delightful! Pressure Mazda Canada, not the dealers when frustrated. Get your dealer to get the dealer council on it to resolve issues.)

I love your car!

Anway, do we get the cool keys with it? Can we see them? (they should match the colour of your car).

Anway looks like you're #1 the canada forum! (although we do need some proof to make it official i think How bout a "Sold to Canzoomer" pic infront of the dealership, ill keep that in my photo album!)

Sit in Jarmans showroom for a month?
You didn't do too well in THAT negotiation!

Good old Steve at Jarman took my deposit back in MARCH 2002.

This is probably a repeat post, but I just love the words - "avoid Jarman", in fact I may mention them again later!:D :D :D

Said it would be about $850 over MSRP for freight & PDI.

Then I get the call "$2400 over list, take it or leave it....:eek::eek: I figured a thousand dollar deposit and a years wait might get me a fair deal, I even asked the guy "I realise that nobody knows the price yet, but am I locked into MSRP?" I was not looking for a discount, just full list. (Just!...did I really say that? Yes.)

He confirmed that the only extras would be delivery and PDI for a max of $850.

But Noooooo,

They can bite my shiny metal ass!

I had to go an hour further, but got a signed deal locked in at list.

My new dealer did whine about the lack of profit in it for him, that "they could have priced it five thousand higher, it would still sell, and make me a decent profit" etc.
While we are naming names, the "good-guy" in this is Autoworld, in Leduc, Alberta.

See my man Rick if you need a FAIR deal....Just stay away from Jarman.....oh, thats right, too late for you.

How much over list did they get you for? Come on, don't be shy...

Check out my sig, it will be that way till Hell freezes over, I told them if they give me a fair deal I would tell everyone, but if they screw me, same thing, everyone knows......

Done with rant mode.....

That nice key and case are an accessory on the Japanese accessory list. It only costs 10,000 yen or about $117.00 Canadian. How many would you like?

Well, I'll be his witness (if he really needs one ;) I took the pictures of the car. I got to be the first guinea pig in the passenger seat. As I said elsewhere, he almost made me carsick "testing it out". I doubt we will have time to take any more pics until we get back next month. My review of my ride is posted in a new topic I created. Quick answer to how I liked it - wonderful! :D

As for Jarman's attitude, I think you may find it has changed for the better now. They seem to have straightened out those problems (all new salespeople and new attitude, I think).

So you are 'Zoomers witness, and you were there when he test drove it 'at Jarman'?

And if we read back in your posts you were also 'at Jarman' when the red one came thru for the Kinsmen?

And you say you think Jarmans sales force is now 'much better'?

And I am supposed to believe you don't work for Jarman Mazda?
Call me paranoid, but it's walking, quacking, and hangs out at the dealers everyday.......it's a duck.

Me too. I leave for a one month business trip and holiday Friday. Knew this in advance, so made the arrangement with the dealer a while ago.

Sound's like you had a great relationship with a great dealer, and that that seems to make it so much more delightful!! Customer delight? They seem to be nailing that one!

At least I got to drive it around for about three hours, and show it to a couple of friends, and took my wife and kids for a short drive.
A note on that: Theback seat are not HUGE on space, but there is ample.
With my daughter in the front seat( she is 5' 6") and my friend in the seat behind her ( he is 6') he had ample leg room, but headroom was a tight fit.

Very true. I am quite satisfied that my dealer did their best to get info to me, and were completely prompt when it arrived.
When I got back at 8:00 ( their closing time) to park the car, they were very enthusiastic and friendly. A REALLY nice experience so far.

Anway, do we get the cool keys with it? Can we see them? (they should match the colour of your car).

No, the keys are pretty ordinary. I think that is yet another one of those US promos that we Canadians did not get to enjoy.
Personally I do not give a rats behind about nifty keys. I just LOVE the car!

The only reason I got pics is my friend grabbed them. I just went down there to drive it!
I will ask my friend who is also on this forum to post if you need a witness, he went on the drive with me..

Ta!

It was my request, actually.

I had an unpleasant experience with them about 3-4 years ago with repairs on an MPV van.
They re now under new management, and the attitude is a LOT different now. They have been VERY good to me so far.

I paid $595 extra to extend the full warranty by one year, and paid for:
Block heater, Ming, roadside assistance, air and tire taxes, PDI and freight, floor mats, tankof gas.
I feel I paid a fair price at $42,000, all in.
I believe that is Mazda Canada SRP.
IF it is a little bit high ( There is no "official figure for freight and PDI that I can find) so what?

I got mine before you, so PPhhhheeeewwww to you!

Get over it.

He lives about 8 blocks from them, is one of my very best friends, and the dealer is on his way to my house.
He has a 3rd Gen RX-7, and other friends of mine own 7's too. Personally I used to have an RX-3 years back, most recent rides being a Honda SiR and a Nissan Spec V.
We have been waiting, enthusing, and checking for a long time for this puppy to arrive.
When I got the call this afternoon, I called him, and he stopped by the dealership with his digicam, came over to my office, and drove me down there. We parked his cr there, and went driving for 3 hours. To a friends who is waiting for his RX-8 so he could grab a ride, then a couple of errands, back to my house, gave the wife and my two children a ride then we drove it back to Jarman.

If you want to call me at my office, it is 780-456-1510.
Hard Data Ltd., we build servers, clusters and workstations, mainly Linux.
My name is Maurice.
My friend recently retired from being a radio communications tech for 25 years for the government.

For hobbies we like cars and bikes and stuff..

As per previous post, picture taken by RX-friend, thepics were taken by him on way to my house.
We drove down to Jarman, they put on the dealer plates, and we took it driving.
Now it sits, safe and sound, in their showroom, until i get back in am month. On their insurance!

My Honda SiR was stolen from my driveway in Oct. 2001, so there is no way I am leaving it sitting here while I am gone!

You can ALL kiss my ass!

The VIN is 1877, it's blue, and you can go look at it in the Jarman showroom. Feel free to ask them who owns it and who put the first 60 klicks on it!

Hey 'zoomer - relax! You've got your 8 and all the rest of us suckers are still waiting ... how much of a victory do you need? :)

BTW - what is the Ming treatment?

Ming treatment is a silicone paint protection system. Jarman get them to do it on all their cars. I suspect it saves them prep time and money (they don't have to hire a special prep guy - just call the Ming guys when they need them). They clean the car inside and out, remove all the plastic shipping stuff, check and repair any shipping damage, etc. It's a full treatment. I was there two days ago picking up parts for my RX-7 3rd gen and the Ming truck was there (BIG truck - they are well equipped).

And as Canzoomer replied, I don't work for them. I live a few blocks away. I'm currently retired :D

I understand why there are so many sceptics - the internet is so impersonal. Really though, I suggest Valium ;)

I get to play with my toys.

I for one believe the accounts I've read here from CanZoomer and his friend. CanZoomer is first the first Canadian owner of an RX-8. Now, who's going to be second?
