View Full Version : Ct rotor heads? smoothSevenz 07-15-2003, 08:21 PM geez....anyone from ct? Maurice 07-15-2003, 08:25 PM RX-8 is here. Saw a red in Bridgeport, CT with dealer plate. You know, I couldn't appreciate the 8 at the New York International Auto Show, because of the large crowd around the 8. Let me say this, "This car is Beautiful". smoothSevenz 07-15-2003, 08:28 PM U serious.....im in bpt to.Where did you see the 8 at? I occasionally drive by Milford Mazda but havent seen them in the lot.I asked someone that worked there when they were getting them in and he said in a couple weeks. That was like 'bout 2 weeks ago already. Are you getting one.... Maurice 07-15-2003, 08:34 PM Parked outside Friendly's on Main Street. It might still be there. This was about 20 mins. ago. smoothSevenz 07-15-2003, 08:52 PM get outta here......ill be back in a sec,im right down the road,LOL. Gotta see it in person....... smoothSevenz 07-15-2003, 08:54 PM Just went there, only took me a minute, but no 8 in sight............:( Maurice 07-15-2003, 08:58 PM You know it had dealer plates, so I may be one of the sales managers at Milford Mazda. Should try to check them out. smoothSevenz 07-15-2003, 09:02 PM What color was it......did it have the rotary accents,leather... Maurice 07-15-2003, 09:14 PM It was red. I was kind of in a hurry, so I didn't get out of my car to see it up close. I am actually not going to get an RX-8. I needed alittle more truck room and a bigger back seat. So congrats to all the new owners. I wish you many years of enjoyment. Love the car but my timing was off.:( Maybe I can try again when my lease is up. smoothSevenz 07-19-2003, 09:39 PM HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!Anybody out there....................i feel LIKE IM THE ONLY PERSON WHO LIKES ROTARY IN CT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! matty 07-19-2003, 10:09 PM i live in milford. i have a red 3rd gen rx-7 and am a die hard rotor head. What do you drive? If you are looking for more rotor heads try rx7club.com. ...plenty there! I just went to mazda in milford yesterday...no 8s yet. i havent seen one on the road yet either. smoothSevenz 07-19-2003, 10:25 PM Whats up. I went by there earlier today, but nothing yet. Maybe theyll get 'm in before the 2005 models.LOL I have a red 89 gxl....did you have a 2nd gen before the 3rd......well i feel relieved to know that someone in the area is keepin up with the 8's. I even went to the Derby Mazda but they dont have em yet either.i guess it really doesnt matter, not in the budget yet ,but just want an up close glimpse. matty 08-04-2003, 09:28 AM has anyone seen one in CT yet? I havent. smoothSevenz 08-04-2003, 10:16 AM I havent seen one either Matt. Jstrong 08-10-2003, 11:01 PM I have my 8.. I am down in VA now.. I just moved from Fairfield area... South Norwalk was my hangout.. Where u? Jstrong 08-10-2003, 11:04 PM I will be in CT next weekend... SONO will be the spot... Black RX8 in CT... Prob parked by Amberjacks.... smoothSevenz 08-11-2003, 08:13 AM I aint seen one upclose yet......I bet youll be gettin some attention around that spot during the weekend. Dont know why were so far behind everyone else,Milford doesnt have a thing yet and neither does Derby. I stopped keepin an eye out. Probably wont be till the fall...... eskimo 08-11-2003, 09:23 AM I'm in CT. Ridgefield. I ordered my 8 in April from Dworkin in Derby. Should be here any day - if you're driving by, have a look and let me know if you see any unloading. Looking at the Dealer Inventory on the mazdausa site, there should be a lot more around soon. smoothSevenz 08-11-2003, 10:07 AM I just happened to check out Derby for the heck of it one day when I had nothin better to do. Isnt there a Danbury or Norwalk dealer you could have gone to instead of Derby..........? If I see any unloading ill probably veer off the road. eskimo 08-11-2003, 10:34 AM Yeah, I went to Ridgefield Mazda, but they said something like, "we won't be getting any for awhile" (no mention of ordering any). Then I went to AutoByTel (actually checked out a bunch of sites - CarsDirect, etc) and Dworkin emailed me back first. I sat in one at Adzam a few weeks ago. I wasn't impressed w/ Ridgefield. matty 08-11-2003, 02:17 PM i hope u new CT rx8 owners come to our rx7 meets. smoothSevenz 08-11-2003, 02:31 PM I guess we finally caught a full head of steam here in CT. Dont be shy people.Put in your 2cents................ smoothSevenz 08-11-2003, 02:36 PM I think I need to get to one of those 7 meets to meet my rotary brethren. eskimo 08-11-2003, 02:40 PM So where/when are these 7 meets? When I see 7s it makes me sad ... I had to sell mine in 92. It was an 84 GS. I got married, had a kid, and had to get a 4 door (Protege). Now I'm ready again ... I missed my 7 so much I'm buying an 8. "but honey, it has 4 doors..." matty 08-12-2003, 08:25 AM We have had a couple meets this yr. There were three off the top of my head: 1) biggest event was the rotor fest in NJ...hundreds of rotary enthuasists attended..prizes, contest, etc...HUGE! 2) hooters meet in milford CT 3) Limerock park open track with the SCDA Club. eskimo 08-12-2003, 12:41 PM Any plans for Marcus Dairy :-) ? That's by me. matty 08-12-2003, 01:27 PM you must be from danbury....what days do car people get together at marcus diary? I would be up for the ride. Also, i hear about some airport in danbury thats another meeting place for car enthuasists...do you know anything about that? eskimo 08-12-2003, 01:33 PM Marcus Dairy is right next to the airport. I'm not sure what the schedule is there, but I should drop by and find out. They have Super Sunday, a biker thing, but they also have car shows there. matty 08-12-2003, 03:40 PM let me know if you find anything out. i would like to make it to a car show over there. matt 94 rx7 340rwhp @ 14psi eskimo 08-13-2003, 01:25 PM I got "The Call"! smoothSevenz 08-13-2003, 01:33 PM Woooooooo!!!Im as happy for you as you are......post some pics, ect. You can be the first person to own an 8 in the nutmeg state.Make sure your not dreamin first. eskimo 08-13-2003, 01:51 PM Originally posted by smoothSevenz Make sure your not dreamin first. pinch pinch ... nope - the finance guy just called. Oh god, I just talked to my insurance company. no, not dreamin' ;-) matty 08-13-2003, 02:27 PM the nutmeg state...what the hell is that. hey congrats on the rx8...what dealer has them? smoothSevenz 08-13-2003, 04:05 PM ZOOM,ZOOM eskimo 08-14-2003, 07:26 AM Dealer? Dworkin in Derby. Got there last night. Truck arrived on Tuesday pm with their 2nd allotment. They had one, Titanium Touring, that wasn't pre-ordered. There was a guy there putting his money down. Less than 24 hrs on the lot. Mine is beautiful. Black/Black, no leather (slippage), manual tranny. I got there in time for a test drive before dark. sorry no pictures yet. This weekend. First impressions? - Felt like my old RX7. I had to sell my 84 GS back in 92 (kids), but the Rx8 felt, well, familar. Stiff, high-pitched, low to the ground, whatever, so many little ways. - My stick was stiff. Let me re-phrase that. The Transmission has to loosen up a bit. Didn't go into 6th very easily, and R needed a lot of push. - Sound wasn't as bad as some say on that thread. I'll fiddle with it this weekend and make it better, but not bad for starters. - My dealer had no options/acessories/anything. Lucky I got the car. When I saw one at Adzam (NY) they had the spare tire mounted. The salesman here asked me what I wanted, but last night, all they said was "check back later". Oh well, I guess I'll order them from Trussville and save some $. Then how to install. oh well, gotta go drive. Pics this weekend, and keep your eyes open, especially if you're in Ridgefield. smoothSevenz 08-14-2003, 09:51 AM Hey Eskimo, You said there was a second allotment, were all those 8's prordered already.... Do they have anything on the lot to sell right at this minute? smoothSevenz 08-14-2003, 09:56 AM Matt, What mods did you perform to your 3rd gen to get it up to 340hp ...... eskimo 08-14-2003, 12:57 PM smoothSevenz: I say second allotment because I thought a first ship came in last month. I think all those were for people who pre-ordered in January or whenever (before me, in Apr). Maybe allotment is the wrong word. This shipment, the dealer got 3, mine and another order, and one for the dealer. But like I say, there was some guy putting his money down for it when we got there (my wife talked to his gf - they got the scoop, I was busy with my car). I think the dealer called this guy when the truck arrived. You can call, but I think it's sold. smoothSevenz 08-14-2003, 02:41 PM Sounds like mazda is being so conservative about the 8's,not even all that much fanfare until except that first page insert in my maxim and espn mags......but even the dealers,I guess there not filling up the lots with them, everyone who wants one has to preorder. matty 08-14-2003, 07:22 PM power mods are: full exhaust from turbos back....no cats cool air intake power fc stand alone ecu now tuned for 12psi-15psi 1300 cc injectors supra fuel pump M2 intercooler act street strip clutch 9.4lb flywheel stock turboes stock motor smoothSevenz 08-14-2003, 07:45 PM All that from a 1.3 or was it liter engine......the Wankel surely is the little motor that could. Wonder how much faster it could go with lighter rotors or carbon apex seals, not that you'd want it to literally go airborne. matty 08-15-2003, 08:36 AM here are some pics from limerock park http://mahjik.homestead.com/files/h...tty/rx7side.jpg http://mahjik.homestead.com/files/h...y/rx7hoodup.jpg http://mahjik.homestead.com/files/h...atty/rx7sAM.jpg smoothSevenz 08-15-2003, 10:19 AM no pics showing matty..... smoothSevenz 08-19-2003, 09:11 PM Saw the car finally in person upclose......much smaller in person than thought, gorgeous, looks better in person, the red was very nice(glittery, more girly), I think I would go with a darker color for my tastes, not impressed with the leather, looks more like pleather, I think ill just settle for the cloth......rotary accents are great......looks like the renesis is smaller than the 13b in my 7, rims are great, although some polished chrome ones much better, im glad the back is semi roomy, not a 2+2 so called back seats, theres actually room there for average sized adults, might be slightly cramped for me, im 6'2. Looks like everything will be preorded....they will only have 1 demo in the lot. Is this the case with all dealers? Can someone answer that..... Like it very much, intent on purchasing, might wait a little while, early next year possibly. That mazdaspeed version sure looks mean.... Anyone looking at this.......has anyone opened their motor up to see what this puppy really has? Any (street racing), redlines, peel outs......some feedback would be appreciated............. smoothSevenz 08-19-2003, 09:21 PM Hows the car eskimo? eskimo 08-19-2003, 10:28 PM Hey. Car's great. I love it. I've been running around town mostly, looking for excuses to drive. "I'll do the grocery shopping. In New Jersey." "What's for lunch? Boston Market? How bout just Boston?" At work, when we go to lunch, I drive, and we fit me & 3 guys in the car, no problem. They have rt 7 all torn up here, which kinda sucks, but I guess that means they're re-paving, which will be good. I was in Norwalk Saturday afternoon. Didn't see JStrong there. I talked to my dealer. I think that Titanium Touring is still there. Warning: tell them ahead of time you don't want VIN etching (unless you do). eskimo 08-19-2003, 10:31 PM re: dealer Titanium Touring Oh yeah, and he said they were asking $2K over MSRP. :-O smoothSevenz 08-19-2003, 10:42 PM Hey, What the heck is vin etching.....maybe you can enlighten me.... What was the "final damage" total on your car.......did you pay msrp or over....dont you have the grand touring smoothSevenz 08-19-2003, 10:54 PM Forgot to ask, Do u like miami subs and grill........ill treat eskimo 08-20-2003, 06:53 AM VIN etching (I had to ask too) is where the take your VIN number, and etch it into the glass, using acid or something. Some kinda theft deterrent, but I can't think how it'll prevent anything. Keep them from taking the glass? OK, here's the tally. I got the Touring (no leather) 29,900 MSRP 1800 tax 160 license 500 dealer charges Miami subs? where's that? sounds familiar... smoothSevenz 08-27-2003, 07:26 PM whats new? DAC17 08-27-2003, 08:18 PM I just got mine at Tony March Mazda in Hartford. $500 over invoice. Velocity red with GT package. Anyone around the Hartford area have one yet? Dave matty 08-28-2003, 07:49 AM mazda at milford has a ton! I must say...the rx-8 with the aero package is pretty sweet! Would any of you be up for a rotary meet soon? The tristate rx7 mailing list has been kicking around the idea of one last summer meet..are you guys game? We have met at several spots in CT. But the more recent locals have been hooters in milford or the hooters on the Berlin turnpike. We did milford a couple of months ago so i was thinking of doing berlin turnpike hooters this time. Let me know if there is interest and i will post something up on the rx7forum and the rx7 mailing list. DAC17 08-28-2003, 08:31 AM Berlin Tpk. Hooters would work for me. Thanks for the follow-up. Wak 03-22-2004, 12:26 PM Well I know it's been a while since someone posted in here but I'm new to the forums. So hello to all you CT Rotor Heads! I picked up my RX8 from Colonial Mazda in Danbury, Connecticut about 3 weeks ago. It was the Titanium Gray one with Black and Red Leather interior in the show room. Imagine my shock when she wouldn't start yesterday morning! Now I get to tryout the Roadside Assistance program and have it towed to the dealer for repairs! Any other CT RX8 owners still around? eskimo 03-22-2004, 04:39 PM Hey Wak. It's been awhile since I visited this forum, but I just happend to drop by today. On Friday I took my 8 to the dealer - Dworkin in Derby - for the recalls, plus it was time for an oil change, plus I spent my card on an MP3 player. The player didn't work so they had to order a new one, and they put it in tomorrow. Anyway, I'm getting tired of driving all the way to Derby. I'll take it to Colonial when it's time for my next oil change. How do you like them? I sure do want to see another 8 on the road. Keep your eyes out for a black/black (or at least it will be after I wash it next weekend). Wak 03-23-2004, 10:08 AM Hey Eskimo, The sales guy I worked with at Colonial, Jack Donovan and the Sales Manager, David Adam were great! I used to take my Exclipse there for service all the time because the Service Manager and Lead Mitsubishi Technician were the best. But they both left and went to Prestige Toyota in Kingston, NY. The jury is still out on their new Service Manager, Steve Edmond. My initial experience with him about a year ago wasn't pleasant and I refuse to bring my Eclipse back to him since. But they supposedly have new Mazda Technician, Phil Robbins who's supposed to be a really good guy, so we'll see how I make out. I'll definitely let you know! Are you planning on going to the Mazda event up in Massachusetts? I think it's next month. eskimo 03-30-2004, 03:03 PM Wak, Thanks for the pointers on Colonial. I'll definitley take it there for my next oil change. Not easy to mess that up, and I can talk to them while I'm there. Did you get your starting problem fixed? Was it flooded? I got my MP3 player installed and I love it. I guess it was just a fluke the first one was a lemon out of the box. Not much they can do about that. They were nice though. I took it in that morning, they found a loaner for me, but by the time I got to work, they had it fixed. I picked it up at lunch, and they'd washed it. Are you talking about the Rev it up event in MA? I do like the idea of getting some professional instruction. I'll give it a shot. kahren 01-27-2005, 01:33 AM we deff need more meets in ct, it seems like everyone is hiding! Wak 01-27-2005, 07:00 AM Kahren, I agree, more meets would be great. However it'll have to wait until the spring. I put the RX8 away for the winter. We should try to plan something for say the first weekend in Spring. Any ideas? Later, Wak rodrigo67 01-27-2005, 08:07 AM Kahren, I agree, more meets would be great. However it'll have to wait until the spring. I put the RX8 away for the winter. We should try to plan something for say the first weekend in Spring. Any ideas? Later, Wak Don't forget your siblings from western mass. We are much closer to Hartford then Boston. It would be nice to see more then 2 8's at the same time... :D kahren 01-27-2005, 01:19 PM if you guys want people to come for spring, gotta act now, its takes most peopel quite a while to prepare so if you want a good turnout we gotta decide where and when now. there are always people from mass that come down, springfield is only about 20 mins from hartfrord. |
