Congratulations -- it looks great! :D
hmmm, didn't you have a problem forgetting to release the handbrake at the Rev It Up event too? Maybe Tribal needs a handbrake warning buzzer in his 8 -- just teasing! ;) :p
So what time were you finally able to leave the dealer after you finished all the paperwork? I'm just trying to get an idea of what I'm in for when I go. I'm kind of surprised mine wasn't in the first group since I didn't order the Nav :( I'm hoping mine will be in the next truckload! :D

im a spoiled little bitch so my parents paying for it. graduation present:)
another thing i noticed is that when u stall in the rx8, it doesnt rock or anything, the engine just dies. like in normal manual cars when u stall, it rocks violently back and fourth. but in the rx8 it doesnt. is this cause of the rotary engine?
ELX13 07-15-2003, 10:34 PM tribal, congrats on gettin' your ride bruh!
sorry to hear about your stalls...i figure i'll do it a lot too right away as i'm a n00b as well. however, i'm lucky enough to have friends that own a 3rd gen FD, a TT and an s2k. they've let me practice a bit...and they each have a different feel. (let me say, the newer the car, the better for me!)
keep your fingers crossed for me! ;)

pelucidor 07-15-2003, 11:33 PM Congratulations Tribal. Don't forget to put a pic in your sig! What are you doing with the BMW?

LOL, your candid report is really refreshing. I bought a new 8 for my wife today and she didn't want to drive it home because she hasn't used a stick shift if 15 years or so. I don't mind telling you my shifting and clutch work was far from professional race driver quality on the way home from the dealership. We'll be working on it tomorrow. We're in our sixties, so it will be strange to see some gray heads through the window of an RX-8. What the heck, life is short!

Not only does it die quickly and smoothly, but it can resurrect itself quickly too. A few times I've stalled mine and pushed the clutch in what seemed like a split second too late, all the red dash lights go on and then suddenly the engine pops back to life. I suspect its the rotary momentum that gives it enough energy to start itself.
tribal azn2 07-16-2003, 01:10 AM ELX13: thx bro, good luck on geting urs.
puppy: no way im letting any my friends drive it
pelucidor: the bmw was original my sisters car then she went off to college so it was mine but now shes back and shes gonna continue driving it. yea i need a new sig but i dont have photoshop:( , if anyone would be kind enough to make me a sig, it would be greatly appreciated. btw i browse is300.net a little and i see u on there.
jd62: WOW sixties?!?!? simply amazing, best of luck to ya
ggreen: something i noticed was that it takes quite a bit longer to crank up the rx8. in regular cars all i would have to do was crank the key for a split second and the engine would start. but with the rotary, it takes like 2 seconds to hold the crank before the engine fully starts.
Gamera 07-16-2003, 05:14 AM Tribal, LOL, I appreciate the candor! The link actually works now. Hey we got our Ti GTs the same day, does that mean we are bruddahs now?
Lucky for you, OC is F-L-A-T. Else you'll be needing that handbrake to hold the car on a hill. LA for that matter is pretty flat too, though Cienega and Sunset might be a little tricky, good place to practice the handbrake/clutch-out maneuver.
No matter, enjoy the car dude! I expect a lot of regulars here to disappear for a bit once their cars arrive.
AndyPearce 07-16-2003, 05:51 AM Great picture Tribal - I'm in love with the Titanium again (was thinking of changing to the red.)
Must be weird having never driven a manual - I can imagine the prospect made you pretty nervous at first.
Enjoy the car!:D

60+ year old couple with an RX-8! I hope I'm driving a sports car when I hit the golden years in my life...yup, I can't see myself in a Lincoln Town Car at that age. Very cool indeed.

Donny Boy 07-16-2003, 07:57 AM Congrats 2 u. Kudos for buying the manual tranny with little experience. By the time you read this reply, you will probably be an excellent shifter. After a while, you shift gears without thinking . . . it becomes second nature to you. ENJOY!!

I wouldn't call it strange -- just blessed. I'd love to be doing the same in 20 more years.
