Hey guys,

This is my 1st post here. I've have been coming here for several
months just reading along with everyone.

Congrats to all the new owners!

I just found out today that the company I work qualifies for
Ford's X-Plan, which 4% above whole sale (A-Plan). I was
wondering how much this will be below MSRP. Does anyone
know what the wholesale price is?

Sorry for the bad news but the RX-8 does not qualify under the X-plan and there is no estimated date as to when it will.

Maybe early next year! If the discount is good enough then
I would be willing to wait. That's one of the reasons why I
was inquiring on what is the wholesale price. I love this car
but if I can save a coulple of thousand dollars, then it would
be worth it to wait. It just means more money for mods :-)

My dealer told me S-plan discounts would be accepted next year as well... They also said that is likely when they will start pricing different than MSRP.

Don't know how much truth is in that since we all know how dealers are.

I checked Edmunds.com for the invoice prices.

Base model- no options
$23274 is invoice for the auto
$24659 is invoice for the manual.

I just started another thread on this topic because Herzog Meir said they will honor the X-Plan.

What is the difference between wholesale and invoice? Is invoice lower or is wholesale?

Methinks some basic comprehension lessons are in order. This thread is talking about the Ford X-Plan discount, not the X-Men car.

Actually, I just got the following in an e-mail sent earlier today. My company just got on board with the x-plan pricing:

"I noticed you were interested in the new RX-8. It was just made eligible for X-plan 2 days ago. It is a hot car and suppply is short. Dealers may not want to sell this car at this time at this price. They individually have that option. If so, wait a bit and it will likely change."

I, too, have been emailing dealers asking about the discount plans. Since I qualify for both A-Plan and X-Plan, I asked about A-Plan first (since that's the best price). Here's the response I got from one dealership's fleet manager:

Yes, our dealership will honor the A plan on your new RX-8. Our dealership currently has the largest selection of RX-8s in orange county with a total of 22 vehicles. I would also like for you to know that there is know dealer mark-up on any of the vehicles. Please feel free to call or email the exact options and color your interested in.

Now, according to Ford's web site, the RX-8 is not yet listed among the vehicles that qualify for A/X/Z/E/S plan pricing. Of course, this may simply be because the webmaster is a little slow updating the site. OTOH, maybe the guys who emailed us are just clueless. :D

S-Plan is gettin' close - I can feel it! :) :)

i just need clarification one more time:

so the the rx-8 is now eligible for the x-plan, however its dependant upon whether or not the dealer chooses to participate in this program?

Was up in detroit today...and drove past Sterling Mazda of Woodhaven...they had a sign out in front of the dealership that said that RX-8's are available at A-Plan.

http://www.fordpartner.com/ - you'll need your company's partner code to get in.

Correct.

Just call or email the dealerships in your area and ask if they will honor S-Plan (Mazda's version of Ford's X-Plan) pricing. I had no problem finding some that would, but that may be because both Mazda and Ford have some kind of headquarters buildings here and so a lot of Mazda employees probably buy their cars from nearby dealerships.

I love the fact that you can get a friggin' Aston Martin, but you can't get the RX8. That makes my decision so much easier, I'll have to get the Aston Martin!!

The current exclusions according to my x-plan program.

"Current excluded vehicles include F-450 through F-750 Super Duty, Mazda RX8, Mazda Speed, E-450, E-550 and Aston Martin vehicles. This list of excluded vehicles is subject to change"

That's interesting, the list my wife was given included Aston Martins. We made a joke about it. I wonder if the plans differ with different companies. Oh well, like it matters. I'm not planning on an Aston Martin too soon. Althought that AMV8 Vantage looks really sweet. Gotta keep workin!!!

Well the time has come. Yesterday I took another look at the FordPartners.com site and the RX-8 is available for S-plan pricing. I've already generated a PIN number and after watching Speed's coverage of the ALMS Petit Le Mans this morning that showed the RX-8 commercial at every break I think I'll be going to Irvine Mazda tomorrow.

I did the same. This time the RX-8 is in the plan! It's an S-plan, which is E-plan + 5.3%. The E-plan is some employee pricing plan. Turns out that the S-Plan price is pretty close to invoice (+- $100). Just hope that there are dealers that would honor it.

Omicron

Most dealers won't honor it right now, but come about November/December, which is the low point yearly for car sales, and they probably will.

So which are the three dealers you found that would honor S-Plan? I'm sure Irvine Mazda is one (they told me they would be honoring S-Plan oin the 8 as soon as Mazda authorized it) but who are the others?

I visited my Indianapolis eastside, Tom Wood Mazda dealer TODAY, and my sales rep told me about S-plan (my employer qualifies). Apparently Tom Wood Mazda is honoring the S-plan for Rx8 purchases. S-plan pricing for Rx8 would be BELOW invoice.

Here are the prices for the "S Plan"

https://www.myplan.ford.com/Common/PDF/Mazda2004.pdf

I don't THINK you need a UN or PW to get to that link. It has the breakdown of the S-Plan Prices for ALL Mazdas.

I just ordered my RX-8 today......11/3/03
Nordic Green Mica, GT, Appearance, Rotary Appearance, 6 Spd., Rear Wing Spoiler. Alarm Shock Sensor Upgrade.

That kept my total under 30k :-)

BTW....you can see that pricing was effective 6/24/03 if you look at the pdf file

Sweet, $2276 discount on my 6MT/1SP/STR. Does anyone know if Dell and/or National Instruments are eligible for S-plan? I've interviewed with both places, so I've got my fingers crossed I may be back in an 8 before too long.

hey all.. I went to Tustin mazda and Irvine mazda two weeks ago. I was told that Irvne Mazda won't be honoring the S-plan yet. Hopefully things have changed. When I asked at Tustin Mazda, they said they would only honor it for MT vehicles. Hope this helps.

I'm almost ready to pull the trigger. One of my local dealers has come close with everything I want (except fender strakes & Shock sensor upgrade). Please can someone educate me on these different types of plans and how does one qualify to get them? All that I am currently working with is the Sam's Club or BJ's Warehouse member's plans. Are these plans (if I'm eligible for any of them) better?
