View Full Version : a/c enhancement: Ice32?

A well respected, local mechanic swears that Ice32 makes a/c colder, reduces the power that the a/c compressor requires and improves gas mileage. It is a lubricant for the refrigerant.

For all the 8's with marginal a/c, might be worth a try. Around here it would cost $75 installed, not sure if it can be purcased for DIY.

Have any of you tried this?

tried searching all the way to the beginning of the forum. 1000's of references to a/c but none to ice 32, ice32, refrigerant lube, refrigerant lubricant, etc... Not a single reference that I can find where somebody has tried this product.

Thanks for the JC Whitney reference. Product had a bunch of accolades but hard to tell if any are legitimate.

i think it would be worth a try as a dyi if you have the gauges. ~ 15 bucks with shipping. i am not really having any problems with my ac, never have, but my car stays in the garage during the day.
+ good tint.

Had it installed yesterday. Brought the temp down 4 degrees. It also takes less time for the A/C to put ou cold air. Installed $65 at a Firestone Dealership.

It was a good deal for me since my 8 temp out of the vents ran around 50 degrees. Live in SC........ Now I am down to 46 and it does cool faster.

swoope, you are good with those searches. Did you see the price for the injector? $78. If I was having an A/C problem I would definitely buy it. I might anyway just to see if it really helps the gas mileage. Maybe everyone in Otown wants to get together and have an ice32 installation day?

yea i give good search. if you give me a link for the injector i will see if anyone i know has one. i would be curious to see what would happen if you did the ice 32 + the other. i tend to believe that the other would work better.

let me know. right now it is becoming mod fest on my car.

btw are you having ac issues that are bad, and are you tinted?????

The injector was on the same site as the ice32
http://www.acsource.com/index.asp?PageAction=PRODSEARCH&txtSearch=53123&Page=1

Actually, I have never really had an issue with the ac. One time after a long highway run and sitting at a long light it blew warm for a couple of seconds. It bothers me that the compressor cycles so much but it works well enough.

My car is garaged 99% of the time so I have not gone for tint.

Mostly I am curious about the additives for the R134a refrigerant. I get tired of reading all the complaints so I figure doing a test would be constructive.

What is we set this up for the first week of August?

I have one of these injectors in my tool box. We could use a digital meter for before and after.

injectors for one or both??? i am game. total cost for both is 20buck if you have the right tools.

if somebody wants to order 2or 3 of what ever i will cover the other 2 or 3 im thinking the guy with injector rides for free.

this i just my opinion i could be wrong.

the fun thing we could do is the lube vs the freon "helper"

That's good by me. I think that I'd like to try the lube (ice32) since the local mechanic loves it.

Swoope, you got a preference?

Clyde, if you want to try the ice too, I'll get an order going in the next couple days.

Hard to tell about the jc whitney stuff since there is absolutely no description.

I will order the ice as soon as I hear back from Clyde. Not sure which one he wanted to try.

This one is probably a competitor to ice

the reason i came up with the oil is that is mentioned on the ice32 about the molecules. and reading between the line seem to be the same stuff.

i ordered the quikboost. not sure if i am going to get it. doesnt come up on the site, but i was able to find it and get into the cart. will know in a couple of day. ended up being 18 buck. damn shipping.

when it gets here i will toss it in and see what happens.

Now I am wondering about this. Found an automotive ac forum and the only mention of ice32 was archived from a couple of years ago. No one had tried it and mostly they were making fun of additive products.

yes,
i am aware of that, might be some advantages to an improved lubracant. ie dino vs synthetic. not sure, but it is a cheap experement.

Do I need to bring the digital thermometer?

BTW last time I order a timing belt from J.C. Whitney I got a inner tube for a ten speed bike. They wouldn't fix the problem until I sent the 2 buck inner tube back and payed $1.50 to ship it...

Thats all I got to say about that....
