Hi guys,

I have my wheel off, the new pads in, but now I can't seem to get the caliper to slide back over them. There is a tube that I imagine compresses the brake, and it's sticking out too far so it won't go over the new pads. I'd appreciate if you can give me a hand asap, as I don't want to have to put my old (nearly worn out) pads back on.

what I have done in the past is put the inner old pad back on and take the cap off the brake fluid resovior, and use a c-clamp to compress the brake piston back into the caliper. Then you will be able to replace the old pad with the new and it should fit over the rotor then, I hope this works on the 8 as it has worked on other cars I have changed the brakes on. Also, you might want to put some towels around the brake fluid resovior so just in case the fluid starts to overflow out of it, that stuff is very bad for paint. Hope this helps.

yes the RX-8's brake calipers work just like any other brake calipers.

whatever you do, DO NOT push back the brake pistons with direct contact to the pistons, use whatever you have left of the old pads as shim to push the pistons back in.
