Good review, pretty much right on. Only odd things were:
1) complaints about the brakes - that's a first
2) complaints about the instrument legibility (small font) - boy does she need reading glasses
3) young working guy who thinks he'd rather have a Mazda 6 because of the storage - where'd they dig him up?!

 

First time I've seen the CoD published. Not entirely accurate, since the 4AT does get the same suspension and bigger brakes with the sport package. I'd agree that the brakes aren't "stunning," but still better that most cars you can get today (though the 2002 Camaro could haul the speed down from 60 in the same distance despite weighing nearly 300 pounds more). I guess "stunning" would be sport bike stopping distances :D .

 

Interesting (I guess that's the right word) in seeing several different family members voice their likes and complaints about things, many of which would never had occured to me, nor would they ever be any concern, in other comments I think they are simply out to lunch. Examples:

"There is some chassis flex..." - uhh?
"Mazda has compromised on its tire and wheel combination..." - uhhh? compared to ???
"I shifted from first to third to sixth..." - OK then...it's a 3-speed!
"the brake pedal is not progressive enough for me" - alrighty then, it's back to the Buick for you.
"Braking distance were good, but not stunning..." Of course, the Masarati Quarttroporte, Ferrari Enzo, Panoz LMP-1, Boxter S & 911 GT1 you drove last week are up to 3' shorter at the 60-0 brake test (R&T over the last few years), so I can identify with your frustration, for heavens sake!
"What attracted me most to the Mazda was its strange look" - Great at least you learned to love the little frog.
"the remote to open the lid it just barely lifts making it a problem to get your finders underneath without getting them dirty or even damaging a nail." (quote wo/comment )
"but to me it was neither fish nor fowl" - you don't eat it silly... you drive it!

Other than those laughable comments (and perhaps a few more) they got it about right I guess...like I said...interesting and fun read.

Haha, how about this quote "for those who really enjoy the art of driving well" as opposed to what, people that enjoy the art of driving not so well? Apparently the young working guy needs to haul alot of stuff around . . .

 

The young working guy gave that lame of comments? I bet Mommy and Daddy are worried about his sexual preference.

 

I was thinking it, but decided not to say it.

 

And she thinks the interior is "bleak". I guess she was driving a pimped out Rolls-Royce last week too.

 

"an engine that does not wake up until it reaches 8000 rpm" Huh? Funny, mine tends to "wake up" much sooner than that.

Throttle-induced understeer? Not in my house! I think he was referring to my old car, the Acura CL-S FWD. We'd need a lot more HP to generate undesirable understeer with the throttle.

 

They also complained about the brakes?

 

After reading all of your comments...I think I'll ignore the article, some of those comments (her comments) are pretty bad and sound kind of dumb, wow.

 

And if you did, it would solve their complaints about the air conditioner being weak! :p

It's mostly a positive review from 5 different people.

Just some of their comments are dumb. Like the brake one; A lot of more professional auto reviewers have stated that our brakes are really good. Kinda strange to say the brakes are sucky (squeaky/squealy, yes. sucky, no).

And you just kinda want to smack the "Young working male" with his constant harping about "room". I mean this is his quote: "I would go with the Mazda 6 or even the Mazda 3 hatchback and have a fun car with more room."

But like I said overall, the reviews were quite positive.

 

hmmm... seems to me like they just list out a lot of stuff and then just discuss various categories that would supposedly be important to the various characters. I'm pretty sure that this whole article was written by one person. Maybe they're supposedly paraphrasing but I doubt that since there is no contradiction (e.g. maybe the father thinks the suspension is perfect but the mom would like it to be softer). It's all one review but supposedly from different points of view.

is that what they call it these days?

 

Im pretty sure I saw that guy on the news while he was camping out 2 weeks ahead of time waiting for Star Wars to come out. He had his darth vader mask off at the time is the only reason I recognize him.
