View Full Version : What type of animal would the RX-8 be?

If you had to liken the RX-8 to an animal, what would it be?

I think we can safely rule out elephant. If nothing else, it's far too nimble to be an elephant.

Cheetah. Sleek, fast, nimble =)

Let's be realistic here, it's no cheetah. Maybe some sort of cat though, like a lynx.

Why? I thought a cheetah and an 8 had a pretty close 0-60 time =)

I would have to say more like a Mountain Lion, fairly rare, fast and agile. But you could also say its like a snake cold blooded doesn't move to fast when it is cold but once she is warmed up it has no problem, and always draws attention no matter where it is at.

For those who look at car like a sex symbol to pick up women, they'd have to call it a Beaver or a Feline of some kind. :D

How about chameleon? There's the unassuming and mild-mannered 4k and under, and there's those 7-9k runs where it shows its true colors.
I have too much time on my hands.

A gazelle pops into my mind, those animals are quick and graceful. That's how a Rx-8 drives, compared to other sports cars which I compare to a charging rhino.

what about a chinchilla. i have two of them and the rx-8 reminds me of them. i drive a sunlight silver rx-8 and my chinchillas are both grey. for those that don't know, chinchillas are somewhat of a mix between a squirrel and mouse. they are small, agile, and have a great coat....just like the RX-8

Def not a Cheetah. They get to 45mph in 2 seconds.

Short bursts of speed, not much overpowering force, but graceful and agile...

The Z is a leopard; a bigger animal, kills with brute force.

Muscle cars are lions; big, brutal, and afraid of no one.

Porsches and Ferraris are tigers; rare, elusive, exotic, and massively powerfu.

A flying squirrel?

Needs to rev up and hit a good stretch of road, but once that is done it glides like on air and just jets..........mmmmmhh squirrel....

House cat. Friendly, comforting, quick, quiet smooth and steathy, polite, yet still has the bloodline of a true unmistakable predator. Put it in the right situation and you can watch the eye's focus, the instinct and bloodline take over as it over takes and rips the head off the smaller weaker cars on the road with style, then spends the afternoon comfortable in a sunny spot looking regal.

Looks-wise it reminds me a huge amount ot the early 70's corvettes.

I like cheetah as well - plus, my other car (winter, kids, etc.) is a FX45 which Inifiniti describes as the "bionic cheetah" (I have no idea what the hell that means).

Now I have 2 cheetahs?!

BTW, why does every new car have an "X" in it. I own an RX-8, FX45 and a MDX. I am getting ready to trade the MDX in for an RX330 (wife's car). Am I somehow brainwashed?

You took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to say a viper, which a rattle snake is a member of the viper family. No other sportscar reference implied though. :p

And I like the bit about the tail rattle...;)

Niiiice. Cool site. That movie helped fuel my need for an RX-8. I wish they had offered that color in the states!
