View Full Version : Is this silence treatment a Ford thing?

I've aired my concerns about the costs of not having information about when my car is going to be here (and the lack of information from Mazda) and so far nothing has changed.
Mazda reads these forums and continues to ignore our pleas for information.
As much as I love our two Mazdas (and as much as I think I will love my RX-8) my love for Mazda has been cut in half.
Whoever is in charge at Mazda that thinks that this lack of information does not harm Mazda's hard earned reputation is mistaken and gets my "clown shoes" award.
Every day that goes by being treated like this costs Mazda dearly in our perception of Mazda.

Maybe they are not used to the internet age where people can communicate instantly across the globe.

Fact is, there are plenty of other mfgrs out there do a much better job of informing their customers (using the Internet in some cases). I, personally, have never pre-ordered a car before, so I don't have any previous experineces of my own to compare this to, but I would've expected more from Mazda as well.

As far as my views of them as a company are concerned, in the long run, the quality and fun of the vehicle is far more important to me than knowing exactly which day my car is going to arrive a week in advance. On the other hand, if this is an indicator of Mazda's overall customer service, I'd be a little worried as well. I've only owned (actually it was my dad's but I drove it) one other Mazda vehicle and by the time that I got it, it was getting close to 15 years old, so there wasn't much contact with Mazda involved. So again, I'm left not knowing what to expect.

Long story short, if Mazda hopes to continue to compete with other mfgrs in customer service, they absolutely need to do a better job next time around. Is the lack of info going to make cause me to walk away from my preorder? No. Is the lack of info going to keep me from preordering another Mazda? No. But, funny as it sounds, the closer the car gets, the less excited I get as a result of the poor communication.

Ditto, except they'd better start doing a better job TODAY!

Give'em a break.

Mazda reads these forums and continues to ignore our pleas for information. This is a private RX-8 enthusiast forum, not a MazdaUSA-endorsed forum. You are not being ignored, just not responded to and there is a difference. E-mail or calling the 800 number is their preferred communication. Maddening? I understand, but you must also understand their position and how they respond to customer's needs.

In the meantime watch out the window for Santa's sleigh. It will be worth it in a week or so.

Like I have said before on here......why would it be so difficult to send out a mass e-mail to those pre-order folks whose vehicles are in the U.S. (somewhere) just letting them know where the port installation process takes place and a general delivery schedule to the dealerships?

I can't imagine anybody who has ordered a $30k+ piece of merchandise from any other company 7 months ago not wanting to know where the hell it is at by now. I can get more detailed delivery information on the internet about a book I ordered from amazon.com that costs $20, but I haven't gotten shit from Mazda as far as communication goes since the VIN number e-mail. Without this forum, I would probably still be under the assumption that my car was still in Japan!

Get a clue Mazda.....and then give us a clue!

Mazda never even gave me any of the email other people got. I didnt think i was getting my car untill the tick to look up the dealer inventory went up on this forum. Madza really needs to improve their system.

Let's see, if I didn't know about this forum, and was relying solely on the official correspondence I've received from Mazda, what would I know...
Jan 23: Come see the X-Men RX-8 in a movie trailer.
Feb 6: Come see the RX-8 driving around Laguna Seca.
Feb 12: My order (which I submitted last month) has been submitted.
Mar 19: Hey, whaddyaknow, the factory's accepted my order!
April: Nada
May: Zip
June 6: Here's your VIN.
June 6: Here's your VIN again.
June 6: No, really, we were just kidding; here's your real VIN.
Jun 9: We built your car ten days ago.

"Give'em a break."?
How about they give us a break and give us some information?
Like I said My feelings for Mazda as a loyal customer have been cut in half these last two weeks.

I posted a new thread in the Lounge to let everyone know that my RX-8 is now showing as released on the dealership's daily status reports. It looks like they are finally on the way. The status still showed as "in port" at 4PM yesterday.

You guys are being extremely harsh...and very childish.

Mazda did not have to do this pre-order thing at all. Most manufacturers just release their cars to the dealer in random colors with random options and let you fight over them.

As I have posted elsewhere, this pre-order thing is great. Now Mazda won't make the same mistake they did with the 6 and have a bunch of automatics sitting waiting for rebates to move them. They have a good idea what RX-8s the consumer wants.

This is a 2004 model...the usual time for the next model year to be released is September of the previous year.

If Mazda made any mistakes, it was too much communication. They should have just said you will get your cars in September and then surprised you when they got here in July.

Expectations...it's like I'm dealing with my kids. You have to tell them something bad so they will be happy when something good happens. (By the way, I am not affiliated with Mazda corporation or any dealers at all.)

Couldn't agree more. Sometimes you wonder if 10 year olds have taken over the world!

Couldn't disagree more, Mazda got lots of valuable information from the pre-order, could have built incredible customer relations and loyalty and instead went into I've got a secret mode for no good reason. They could have told us what was up very easily and not pissed off a bunch of folks.

"You guys are being extremely harsh...and very childish."
Really? Do you have a car on pre-order? Is your time valuable?
"Extremely harsh…and very childish" does not consist of asking questions and leaving opinions based on my (and others) experiences.
"Couldn't agree more. Sometimes you wonder if 10 year olds have taken over the world!"
Hmm. How about go f*** yourself!
Ten year olds.. That seems about the correct response.
