Toyo Proxes 4 first impressions

I can say these tires are pretty sticky. They grip well and also have an aggressive looking tread. At first, they felt a little less predictable than the OEM tires, much in the way my father's Z28 feels. They felt like you have to just trust that they'll grip rather than being sure of them. After having them on for a few days I'm beginning to think they just feel different, not less secure. I'm growing to really like them.

Also, I drove them in the rain today for the first time and I can say that the car feel 100% more secure with all-seasons than w/ the OEMs.

I have the Proxes 4's also....put them on for winter instead of $1200 for Blizzak LM-25's.

They were great for me in the snow, with 160 lbs of rock salt in my trunk, but to their credit, I didn't try to drive without the weight in the back. I did immediately notice that turn in is not quite as quick as with the OEM (I had Dunlop SP 8090's), but the grip is great, wet and dry. I fitted 225/40's and have about 11000 miles on them so far. Wear is low, they might last me another year or two....just make sure you rotate them every 7000 at least.

I've had the Proxes 4's since last September in preperation for the Michigan winter. And I have to say, I was caught off guard in how well they performed in the dry/wet when compared to the stock tires. The snow performance was not as good as a dedicated snow tire, but it was more than good enough for me!

They are great in the corners, ride smoother than the stock Bridgestone tires and I agree they are incredible in the rain! I am glad I picked them over the PZero Nero M&S. And they are much better looking! I would rank them the best tire in the Ultra-High Performance A/S catagory.

The only real drawback I'm finding to these tires is that hard braking while conering is far less stable. I seem to begin to oversteer a lot more than with the potenza's.

Just got Proxes 4 yesterday grip is excellent on dry roads, nice and quite the OE Bridge noise was getting on my nerves, could hardly hear the stereo. I'm going to be driving almost 300 miles on skyline drive and Blue Ridge Parkway the next 2 days. That should give me a real good impression of the tire. Have to repost with comments and pics next week.

I can't decide between the Proxes 4 and PZero Nero M&S.
anyone tried fitting the 245/40/18 Proxes? Will I have clearance problem?

The salesman at STS told me when I was originally looking for a set of Toyo T1-S that I could put that size tire on and it "should be ok". He's probably right, but I'm not a fan of the phrase "should be ok" when it comes to my $33k machine...

im going to assume that you mean 245/40/18. yes they fit the stock rims. lots of people have done it lots of threads. search for Pirelli PZero Nero M&S.

size OK, increase pressure to 34PSI

If concerned with the turn-in speed: suggest run higher pressures (34-36PSI fronts, 34PSI rears) to stiffen the sidewalls. Might cost you a little in grip, but you have plenty of that

Yes, 245/40WR18 is what I ran and there are no problems under any (type of) severe driving conditions.
