Just installed the RP Midpipe and B&B Exhaust and all I can say is WOW. The sound is incredible, but its insanely loud. It sounds like a full blown gt car when wot but at 4k and below it sounds really deep and throaty. Overall I love the sound and performance gain. I made a little video clip of me putting the car away just to give you an idea of what it sounds like, btw I never went above 4k rpm in the clip.

Like the sound.

I don't know about mine, but when I first start/warm up the car, whenever the RPM's get to around the 4k mark, you hear a "rattle" or "buzzing" sound. Does yours do that too, have you ever noticed? Also when you blip the throttle just when you're still, you sort of hear a rattling noise too. I have the RP High Flow Cat and Greddy exhaust and it does this. Can't wait to hear it at full throttle.

Yeah, between 4k-5k mine makes rattling sound. I believe the pipes are vibrating on the support bars on the bottom of the car, dont know for sure though.

Not my cup of soup. Sounds like the exhaust is farting. I perfer the RB Exhaust by far. But to each their own.

Is this the high flow supercat pipe?

No, he posted in another thread it's the RP midpipe (catless).
I don't think that noise is the pipe hitting the bars, sounds like it's the exhaust flow. I can't imagine what it'll sound like at WOT, just hearing you rev alittle was too loud for me.
I'll post a video of my borla with RP supercat soon. It's still quiet but throatier.

I don't know, there is something about it that doesn't quite do it for me, but, needless to say, it is a good work and "to each their own".

This thing is so loud, im seriously considering getting a rb exhaust or putting the stock one back on. The performance gain is incredible on the top end so I want to keep the midpipe on for sure.

Yeah I second that I think the RB sounds better, also it didn't scare any neighbourhood dogs :D

(you can hear some poor puppy yellping away in that video :) )

Is there any sound clips floating around of a rb exhaust with a midpipe? I searched but came up with nothing..

The borla sounds very similar to the racing beat exhaust. I posted the video of my borla and RP supercat here. (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=63267)

Thats the midpipe, the b&b exhaust itself sounds really nice. I gotta agree at the lower rpm it does sound kind of crappy but when you get on it it sounds insane, I really love the sound but its way to loud for my taste. I may put the stocker back on and keep the midpipe on and on events I may put the B&B w/ midpipe just to piss people off.

the "farting sound" may be only b/c his engine wasn't warm... mine sounds smooth... anywayz if you like it, keep it the way it is, who cares what others think. if you think it's too loud, put on a different exhaust :D

i drove in it and it didn't really fart like that. But it was way too loud and it was a little awkward driving in it because people were like wtf?

Wow, that doesnt sound healthy at all. Maybe the engine was really cold though... i hope.

Damn, that really makes me think twice, well no, a lot more than twice if i want the B&B midpipe, the supercat, or any other midpipe/cat pipes.

Just a notification, my engine was cold when i made the video. Once it warms up it sounds alot better. I have the stock exhaust with the rp midpipe and I love this combo for driving around town. From 0-4k rpm its dead silent, then it sounds like a m3. Midpipe is definatly worth it imo, it feels so much faster on the top end. I can feel a little loss in the lower end, but its so nominal. But damn with the rp midpipe and B&B exhaust combo is extreamly loud, and pisses alot of people of when passing them. My friend said that it was lot louder than a pack of harleys. No regrets of getting a midpipe. Ill post a video clip of the midpipe with the stock exhaust.
