BlueEyes 05-31-2005, 05:59 PM THat first one ran an 11:34 it looked like. I don't have any sound though, was it not a Z06? dmp 05-31-2005, 06:02 PM THat first one ran an 11:34 it looked like. I don't have any sound though, was it not a Z06? The yellow car wasn't stock - some mods; unnamed... canaryrx8 05-31-2005, 06:04 PM unless these are prototypes there is no way they can be a Z06, the Z06 isn't even out yet for the C6, they're not supposed to drop for at least another month or so. If they are Z06 c6s, someone must have mad connections :D BlueEyes 05-31-2005, 06:04 PM So much for this thing keeping up with the Ford Gt then, why does chevy always over inflate their est. times? dmp 05-31-2005, 06:06 PM unless these are prototypes there is no way they can be a Z06, the Z06 isn't even out yet for the C6, they're not supposed to drop for at least another month or so. If they are Z06 c6s, someone must have mad connections :D well - we saw one yellow-looking like a real race car...then a stock blue. :) they're real; no reason for them NOT to be. :) BlueEyes 05-31-2005, 06:09 PM Yeah, apparently there are a lot on the road in detroit. XDEEDUBBX 05-31-2005, 06:10 PM daaaam.....that shits fast..... dmp 05-31-2005, 06:20 PM So much for this thing keeping up with the Ford Gt then, why does chevy always over inflate their est. times? hmm...I don't recall reading Chevy claiming Ford GT - level performance. But it's already within .5 seconds in the 1/4, and close in trap speed - at HALF? the cost... :) From Road and Track, May 2005: Our radar gun clocks the Ford GT's 0-60-mph time at 3.8 seconds, and the quarter-mile sprint at 12.2 sec. with the speedometer indicating 121.6 mph. In the video above, we see a z06 with unknown mods, trapping at 120mph...and hitting 12.00. I'd say that's VERY close to Ford GT numbers....:D :) BlueEyes 05-31-2005, 06:25 PM Ford GT's are burning the 1/4 mile up in the mid 11's. Chevy never actually claimed the time to keep up with the Ford GT, but I thought I read estimated performance numbers in the mid 11's, I was hopeful it would keep up. Who knows, it was a while ago, during all the rumours about the car, it could have just been some made up press release. canaryrx8 05-31-2005, 06:27 PM well - we saw one yellow-looking like a real race car...then a stock blue. :) they're real; no reason for them NOT to be. :) real c6 or real z06? :D and there is a reason for them not to be as they're not out yet, if they really and truly are out then my bad, these guys seem to agree with me http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1102510&forum_id=100 BlueEyes 05-31-2005, 06:29 PM they aren't out for purchase, but they are definitely on the roads in the hands of testers in production form. I have heard many stories of sighting in and around detroit. I am sure going to the drag strip is all part of the shakedown. Nemesis8 05-31-2005, 06:42 PM Where's my lottery ticket... TheColonel 05-31-2005, 06:55 PM If you want a Ford GT eater, I have two words: Blue Devil. Supposedly, it doesn't exist, but I'm also told that it's in the making... :D BlueEyes 05-31-2005, 06:57 PM  I googled blue devil and all I get is duke U shit, or some dudes porsche. What are you talking about? Incidentally, I just want a ford GT :( TheColonel 05-31-2005, 06:57 PM Also, was it raining in that vid? rx8wannahave 05-31-2005, 07:39 PM Nice! You gotta love that Vette! snizzle 05-31-2005, 08:02 PM If you want a Ford GT eater, I have two words: Blue Devil. Supposedly, it doesn't exist, but I'm also told that it's in the making... :D 2007 Chevrolet Corvette : The Corvette team has cooked up a Ford GT fighter known internally as the "Blue Devil." Packing a supercharged 427-cid V-8 and extensive carbon fiber, the Blue Devil is being considered for production. Here's more conjecture as to the advent of the Blue Devil name for a higher-performance version of the C6 Vette. GM CEO Rick Wagoner did his undergraduate work and played basketball for Duke University, making him the ultimate Blue Devil. TheColonel 05-31-2005, 08:03 PM Ah, they acknowledge it's existence... Ellar 05-31-2005, 08:32 PM Isn't the Ford GT milled out of a solid block of unobtainium? TeamRX8 05-31-2005, 08:48 PM a stock C5 Z06 runs low 12's, except for that first yellow one they didn't seem that great to me, looked like he must of at least had high grip rear tires to run the low 11 time BlueEyes 05-31-2005, 08:51 PM apparently that yellow one is a modded c6, not a z06. It just has a z06 body kit for some reason. canaryrx8 06-01-2005, 11:55 AM they aren't out for purchase, but they are definitely on the roads in the hands of testers in production form. I have heard many stories of sighting in and around detroit. I am sure going to the drag strip is all part of the shakedown. too bad there aren't any in that video  BlueEyes 06-01-2005, 11:58 AM too bad there aren't any in that video     Aren't any what? If you are trying to assert that there are no Z06's on the road you are way off. The video was taken at a recent Corvette event at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY. The track is only a few minutes away from the corvette factory and museum. They are MOST DEFINITELY Z06's, I'm sorry you can't accept that. TODreamer 06-01-2005, 12:04 PM unless these are prototypes there is no way they can be a Z06, the Z06 isn't even out yet for the C6, they're not supposed to drop for at least another month or so. If they are Z06 c6s, someone must have mad connections :D Those are definitely Z06 C6s so I guess someone does have some mad hookups canaryrx8 06-01-2005, 01:21 PM sigh...check out this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1101115&forum_id=100 sure there may be some on the road, (highly unlikely, but possible) but if you're telling me that yellow one is a z06 then get off the crack, MAYBE the blue one is, but it's REALLY hard to tell in those vids, especially considering none of those cars (except the yellow one) got numbers close to what z06 is supposed to get. I've been following this car closely as I dream of owning one someday so if I'm wrong? fine, it's all good. I'm still having a hard time believing those are the real deal when even the vette guys (some of whom who were there when that was filmed) are saying they are not. oh and arguing on the internet sucks, and I'm not going to fall into the dark pit of useless activity any further so that's all I have to say about any of this mess and you can believe what you want, hopefully you're right and it makes you feel good about your self :) dmp 06-01-2005, 01:31 PM how is 12-flat at 120+mph, for a 500hp car, 'nowhere close' to what a z06 is 'supposed' to get? canaryrx8 06-01-2005, 01:43 PM how is 12-flat at 120+mph, for a 500hp car, 'nowhere close' to what a z06 is 'supposed' to get? first off I did not say "nowhere close", second off, all the stuff I've read and seen has this car doing low 11s, a second makes a huge difference in 1/4 times. BlueEyes 06-01-2005, 01:47 PM I skimmed that link and didn't see any talk about his video, maybe the wrong link?? but if you're telling me that yellow one is a z06 then get off the crack, MAYBE the blue one is one of my previous posts clearly said that the yellow one is not a z06. So get off the crack and get on hooked on phonics ;) Thetitanium8 06-01-2005, 01:50 PM Even if they are not the real deal, still some pretty good runs :) Apophis 06-01-2005, 04:34 PM Hmmm... it looks like a duck (hood scoop, fender flares), it walks like a duck (fast times)... so why wouldn't it be a duck? Two things: 1. Company employees (usually execs) frequently get their hands on these kinds of vehicles before their release to dealers. Try driving around Dearborn, MI on a daily basis and you'll see plenty of vehicles before they officially hit the roads. 2. When the yellow one zips past, notice the absence of the gap from the removable roof panel. The fixed roof is the strongest telltale of the Z06. Case closed. DreRX8 06-01-2005, 04:41 PM I saw a C6 back in Scottsdale, AZ back in Sept. '04, which is before deliveries took place if I'm not mistaken, with manufacturer plates being driven by a 'regular' guy. canaryrx8 06-01-2005, 06:08 PM Hmmm... it looks like a duck (hood scoop, fender flares), it walks like a duck (fast times)... so why wouldn't it be a duck? I'm wrong, I'm stupid, and you guys are all the smartest people in the entire universe. yay. Ellar 06-01-2005, 06:22 PM ^^^ LOL - Be careful - I did that the other night in another thread, and everyone thought I was serious. Apophis 06-04-2005, 02:51 PM ^^^ LOL - Be careful - I did that the other night in another thread, and everyone thought I was serious. Wait, you mean he might have been joking? Shit... I need to call the trophy shop and cancel my order! But really, Canary, I don't think anyone wsa really getting riled up about this... I was just pointing out strong evidence of a bona fide Z06. Now that I think about it, it doesn't neccessarily prove anything as it could technically be a C5 Z06 (which also has the fixed roof) which has some sort of crazy C6 Z06 body kit. Of course, that would have to be a crazy body kit, especially to transform the headlights from flip-up to fixed. Anyway, none of this is really a big deal... |
