I have just spoken to my friend and there was indeed a Red RX-8 in the Top Gear Studio for filming today.

They didn't drive the car or even review it, so I imagine it was the king of thing they did with the Aston Martin a few weeks ago, just have a whizz round the exterior.

Apparently JC mentioned that the car had been flown in from Japan this morning, but I think that is rubbish as we know their are cars in the country.

She also mentioned that the car will not be reviewed until the 3rd Series, probably starting in the Autumn, but by all accounts they are very keen to do so.

Is it official then?

Is Sunday the day?

Must remember to set the DVD!

I do hope he doesn't slag it off. Still there will be much discussion after 9.00pm on Sunday either way!

My friend says that he doesn't review the car just looks at the outside of it.

I think.

He does not have to review the car to slag it off but I think the concept is so new and the shape so nice that he will stay neutral, especially as all reviews inlcuding TG have been good.

Well, Andy Willmand, who is the driving force behind TG was very complementary about the car when my friend asked him on my behalf.

Here is a synopsis of the show; doesn't look like we'll get a lot of feedback on the RX-8 this time around :(

In a show aimed at predicting the future of motoring, Jeremy Clarkson finds a novel way to drive the new Vauxhall Signum, General Motors' revolutionary Hy-wire concept car gets a test-drive and there's a look at Volkswagen's eagerly awaited luxury limo, the Phaeton. Chelsea footballer Graeme Le Saux nominates the Audi Quattro as his favourite motor, Star Trek's Patrick Stewart gets up to warp speed on the racetrack as this week's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car and disabled drivers race to determine who's the fastest in Britain

There is a liitle pic on their web page here.....

"Also in the studio this week was Mazda's new RX-8, literally straight off the plane from Japan. It's the successor to the RX-7, which was possibly the best looking car ever, and highlights include a £19,995 starting price, a wankel rotary engine and an impressive set of reverse-opening rear doors. We really wanted to test it this week but, to stay faithful to our 'themed' Top Gear, James went to Germany instead to drive an gadget-filled American car that runs on air. Or something like that."

JC's blagging again!

It was nothing to do with themes, MAZDA UK wouldn't let them test it prior to the N.Wales press launch. That's official..............

The STIG will just have to go to Wales!
