View Full Version : Anybody from IA or NE
drj400m 07-09-2003, 12:32 AM Just wondering if anyone out there is from western IA or eastern NE. I ordered my RX8 from a dealer in DesMoines. Anyone else from these areas? And has their dealer said anything to them on ETA. Mine states 4rth week of July.
RX8MAN04 07-20-2003, 03:15 PM HI, YEAH I PRE-ORDERED 1 YEAR AGO FROM RAMSEY MAZDA YELLOW G/T THEY TOLD ME 4TH WEEK OF JULY TOO! THIS WEEK I CANT WAIT.THEY ARE GETTING 15 CARS LAST TIME I LOOKED HOPE BOTH CARS WILL COME THIS WEEK.
RXhusker 07-20-2003, 10:44 PM Omaha reporting -- I'm told 4th week July also -- let's hope they really get here this week! Last month they said 3rd week July. Now it is 4th week  I've been scouting some nice rides over in the Loess Hills of Western IA!
drj400m 07-20-2003, 11:05 PM Yeah so have I! There is some pretty windy roads, if you find any good ones post it and I will do the same!
Good luck to us all to get our cars sometime this week!!!
blizz81 07-22-2003, 01:44 PM It takes too long to ship things off the coast here to the midwest :(
I'm not waiting for an 8, but you guys get my wishes of luck. I am a little excited to see RXHusker's up close :)
I wish I could remember the series of highway(s) I took when I got lost on the way to Mid America Motorplex last year...I just wanted to get to the track but instead got a nice twisty scenic route. There was a wire-frame overhead toll bridge across the river I believe, if that helps anyone locate what I'm talking about. I think it was a branch off of 75 past plattsmouth...
RXhusker 07-22-2003, 02:46 PM First Omaha car is here! IT ISN'T MINE  Dealer still can't tell me when mine will arrive even though I was the first pre-order in town. It has been said before, but I will say it again -- This pre-order system sucks!
Hey blizz81 -- Regan Mazda has a black GT sitting out front that arrived yesterday.
blizz81 07-22-2003, 05:38 PM Cool...yours can't be far away now!
maybe I'll get a chance this week to swing by Reagan. I doubt they're letting anyone take that thing for a spin, much less your average business-cas-dressed 22-year-old. Maybe if I talk down on Stan Olsen enough...
omahawk 08-18-2003, 03:55 PM Which dealer in the Omaha/CB are you guys buying from?
Do you have your car yet?
What have they said about the possible hp issue?
RXhusker 08-18-2003, 04:06 PM I purchased mine at Olsen -- actually I pre-orded on Jan 9th and the website sent my order to Olsen. Worked with Robert Cameron their internet sales manager and he treated me very well.
I have had my car for a almost 2 weeks -- first RX-8 sold at the dealership.
I haven't asked about the horsepower issue -- mainly because I really don't think it is an issue -- yet anyway. I am still in the 700 mile break-in period and keeping under 7k rpms but I feel there is great power - especially above 5k. I have had a rotary before so I know what to expect. I also think that it is de-tuned on purpose for a break-in period of time. If it is underpowered now -- it will be a beast when it either gets resolved or goes to more aggressive ecu mapping. The guy in the new Celica (144th & Dodge on-ramp west bound) that thought he was faster sure was disappointed to discover that the RX-8 is not as underpowered as some on this board would have you believe. :D Not only out accelerated but he could not handle the sharp corner turn and lost the rear end (my DSC actually kicked in the first time).
P.S. -- and that was with my wife and two very excited kids in the back seat
RXhusker 08-27-2003, 10:17 PM So ===== has anybody else in NE or IA gotten their cars? I have 3 weeks and 1100 miles now and have yet to see another RX-8 on the road. I know it is inevitable -- but it has been really fun getting all the stares and  :D !
Have been taking some great rides through the hills around the Mo river valley :D
drj400m 08-27-2003, 11:28 PM Got mine about 4 weeks ago! I have been to Omaha twice and DesMoines three times. I also have not seen another RX8 while in mine! I have aprox. 2500 miles and enjoy every minute of it!!
RXhusker 08-27-2003, 11:42 PM Originally posted by drj400m

So what did you get drj400m? color, options, etc. Hopefully there will eventually be enough members to have a drive and get together.
I am from Omaha as well and got mine from Reagan-wouldn't say too many nice things about them (Reagan)-but I have it and LOVE IT-will not sell back! I have also absorbed all the stares and have not seen another either while in the cockpit!-I would love to all get together and have a ride over there in the Loess hills-maybe have a picnic or something at preperation canyon state park>??????????
RXhusker 08-29-2003, 05:06 PM Hey Kain -- check your PM.
drj400m 08-29-2003, 07:34 PM Hey guys I'm from western IA about 70 miles from Omaha. I have a stock 8 with the 6 speed and fender strakes. Have not added anything yet.
I will definitely be keeping this car! The free maintenance is just gravey for me!
Let me know about the Loess Hills get together.
Jeff
RXhusker 09-13-2003, 11:26 PM Finally -- after 5 weeks I saw another RX-8 in town! Blue -- I think it was a GT. Did a quick u-turn (132nd and Blondo) and honked at the guy - exchanged a brief mutual thumbs up. If it was anybody out there on the board -- let me know :)
RXhusker 09-14-2003, 03:40 PM Wow -- I am on a roll now -- spotted another Titanium in Omaha coming home from church this morning (168th & Q). If its anybody out there let me know :)
blizz81 09-15-2003, 08:51 PM I've seen red, blue, and black on the streets....hopefully see a Titanium tomorrow evening ;)
RXhusker 10-22-2003, 10:38 PM Bump
Anybody new from NE or IA?
Saw 2 other 8's one weekend (blue and titanium) about a month ago and not another since -- good and bad. Talked with my dealer and he said sales have been very good -- but still don't see any on the road.
Would like to have a little ride / get together before the weather turns bad.
RotorBalls 10-22-2003, 11:05 PM Don't own an rx8, but aspire to some time...with as much as I've spent on my FC I could have owned an FD or an 8 though :D
From Omaha...and wow I think this is my first post :) what's up everyone
RXhusker 10-24-2003, 04:58 PM Welcome RotorBalls!
Well -- so far I have counted you, Blizz81 and omahawk as non-owner members and Kain and myself as 8 owners from Omaha.
Believe it or not -- I haven't even seen one RX-7 on the road since I got my 8 (mid-August) -- at least not while I have been driving the 8 -- have seen two while driving our Volvo but thats no fun.
RotorBalls 12-01-2003, 11:56 PM just spamming my local board for rotary enthusiests
http://omaharx7.com
robolaw 12-06-2003, 10:06 PM Test drove th 8 late this summer in Des Moines on the same roads I did the 7 when it first come out. Couldn't hit 120 before I went under I-80 like I did then due to developement & more traffic, but was so impressed I bought one in October when I went back for another look. Paul was very helpful. Got Titanium with the usual package, a wing & rotary accent pkg. I've since added the factory front & rear mud flaps. (Easy, don't look bad & have better ground clearance than the appearance pkg.) Added a V1, wired it throught the sun roof power so it shuts off with the ignition. Also, tucks nicely above the mirror on the passenger side with the included suction cup mount. Already had a RJ45 kit from doing computer networks, to make a short power cord. The personalized plate is on order, ROBOLAW, my old one. Between these two I owned an 87 7 & bought two more early 7's for my sons. My niece now has one of them, so I can still do a direct comparison drive. The best shift point for daily driving of the 7 was always about 4K, the 8 is at least 5k. They both feel like super fast go carts. These are still the most fun to drive & everything else I own is BMW, both 2 & 4 wheel.
carnut 12-13-2003, 04:20 PM Hi, robolaw! I've got a red 8, and I haven't seen any of the rest of you driving around in Des Moines yet, but I'll keep my eyes open. Welcome to the board! I had ordered mine about 18 months ago, and it came in one of the first Des Moines shipments. I think the yellow one came in before mine did, but I don't know the owner.
RX8MAN04 12-13-2003, 08:15 PM hi guys, i've got the yellow one in des moines. i think i have seen the gray or silver rx8 in west des moines. i pre ordered mine like 20 months ago or so a big 3 weeks befpre anybody else here. bought it from paul at ramsey he is good to deal with there.hope to see you on the streets .

Before we get too carried away on pre-order dates -- nobody could pre-order until the first week in Jan. -- my dealer was entering his own initial orders in the system as I sat in his office when it opened at 8:00 a.m. (I had pre-ordered online at 5 a.m. that morning). I had indicated months before that I wanted to order and he put me on a "list" but there were no pre-orders til Jan 8th (without looking at the old email - I think that was the offical date).
Hope everybody in IA and Ne has their snow tires on :D
carnut 12-14-2003, 09:58 AM I think what Chuck is talking about is putting down a deposit at our Des Moines dealer. I did the same thing. I've got my snows on the stock rims, and the new chrome ones just came in. I saw them yesterday and I need to take my OE tires over for mounting. So far, no problems at all in the snow. My car has to be my year-round transportation, although I'm hoping to steal my wife's Sequoia if we get some really deep stuff.
Chuck, are you still driving yours or were you able to but it away for the winter? I do like that yellow! I remember when yours arrived, because I had been cruising by Ramsey Auto daily to see if any had been dropped off. I nearly drove off the road. Mine and a couple of others appeared on a later weekend when the dealer didn't even know they were coming.
I am in West Des Moines, also. See you, I hope!
RXhusker 12-14-2003, 04:10 PM My 8 has been going very well in the snow! My wife also has a Sequoia! It does come in handy when there is some serious white stuff on the ground!

Here's a pretty windy road for all your IA/NE RX8 owners:
http://revolutionmktg.net/Revolution :D
Hope to see all of you there!
RX8Sooner 01-21-2004, 07:34 PM So is there any kind of RX-8 club here in Omaha? I have yet to see one on the road (besides mine) since I bought mine in Nov. I would like to make mods and things, are there any good performance stores around here to help out.
Hope to meet some other RX-8ers in or near Omaha.
L8r
RXhusker 01-21-2004, 08:29 PM Sooner,
There are a few of us Omaha folk on the board. Actually a guy in my office building just bought a blue one this week and Omahawk on this board should be getting his blue one within the month. Other than that Kain and I have titanium 8's. I saw a red one last week in miracle hills with the plate TODD4NU.
What part of town do you live in? I am out at 162nd and Blondo.
I would like to get a local club mixer or drive set-up once the weather turns a little warmer and I put my summer tires back on. I am not familar with any local performance shops -- have done everything myself so far.
cardinal35 01-22-2004, 11:04 AM warm weather and we all meet for a scenic loess hills drive!!!! HP motor sports has been looking to see some 8's I have heard!!!
cardinal35 01-22-2004, 11:05 AM by the way this is Kain and not cardinal35!!!! who is cardinal35>??
RX8Sooner 01-22-2004, 07:29 PM Awesome I'd love to meet some locals, I live in bellevue 36th and 370 area.
I have a Red 8 with the GT package and the 2 tone interior, I have Oklahoma plates (military). I really like it a lot. Trying to decide what I can do inexpensively to get more horses out of her. Might have to go see HP motor sports about it.
Hope to hear from you all soon.
Sooner
RXhusker 01-22-2004, 10:48 PM First thing you should do is get CanZoomer's fuel controller mod. ($750) This is good for about 25 hp and greatly increased power above 5k rpms. I should have mine soon -- will let everyone know when it arrives if you want to check it out. I am not sure I would recommend a local performance shop -- you can most likely get better stuff on the internet (www.vividracing.com , www.rotaryextreme.com) and most everything is easy to install yourself.
If you want to add a little zip and a lot of roar :D I highly recommend the Borla exhaust ($600) -- money very very well spent.
cardinal35 01-23-2004, 09:07 AM hey there RXHusker!!! and greetings to RX-8Sooner! For some reason since yesterday I am still showing up as cardinal,anyway....- all I have heard (from a kid who works in a lawyer's office here in my building) is that HP Motorsports wanted to see one, maybe sponsor one>? that is just what I have heard from this other source. I HOWEVER agree with you as far as buying products from those sites-prices are a lot more competitive.! Hey RXHusker, do you have any sort of new air intake as well?, K & N or chuck's?
RXhusker 01-23-2004, 09:48 AM No intake yet. The jury is still out -- have been leaning more toward Rotary Extreme but am waiting for Omicron's dynos and for some warm Spring weather. Next up for me is CanZoomer's Stage 1, also strongly looking at HKS, Tein or JIC adjustable coilovers -- I think the 8 sits about an inch too high and could stiffen it up a little when desired :D .
cardinal35 01-23-2004, 09:57 AM yeah I am not one to lower just for looks-HOWEVER, I have 3 sandbags in the trunk (I do still drive her a little in the winter) and they have really lowered the back of the car-me noticing how great the back of the car looks now has made me decide to somewhat lower it as well- I was given a K and N for christmas from my wife- but haven't decided if I am gonna put it on or not. Wanted to see what their cover looks like first if it ever come out :)
RXhusker 01-23-2004, 10:12 AM Kain -- you have to find a way to get your identity back ;)
You must have more patience that I do -- if I had gotten a K&N for Christmas it wouldn't still be sitting in a box (I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the cruise we took between Christmas and New Year's just thinking about it sitting there in a box). Let me know if you put it on -- I would love to hear it.
RX8Sooner 01-24-2004, 03:24 AM If you want to add a little zip and a lot of roar I highly recommend the Borla exhaust ($600) -- money very very well spent.
Now does this make it sound like a crotch rocket, or give it a little base, I am a hold over from the muscle cars (68 mustang was first car), so I have a hard time with cars being that whinny and high pitched.
Thanks for the advice I may have to give HP motorsports a call.
Thanks
Sooner
RXhusker 01-24-2004, 10:02 AM The Borla is a deeper, louder sound compared to stock -- definitely more mustang than Honda rice rocket :D There a some sound clips posted if you do a search.
huskerz79 02-10-2004, 02:33 PM I live in Lincoln, NE and am new to the rotary scene ( previous Camaro Z28 owner), I need tips on how to make power with the rotary. In Dec. I bought an 04 RX-8, Velocity Red, Grand Touring Package, BOSE. I bought from Woodhouse in Omaha and was very pleased, besides they are the only MazdaSpeed dealer in NE!
Any tips on what works? I know the MazdaSpeed parts are high, but are the good? Or should I just look to the after market. I want exhaust, intake, computer mods and more.
Also how does this car look lowered? Any tips?
Please help, I'm 24 years old, and have a nice tax return burning a hole in my pocket!!!!
Any help would be great, thanks guys!!!
RXhusker 02-11-2004, 09:54 AM huskerz79,
You have a lot of reading to do :D
Seriously -- check out the vendors forum -- especially Canzoomer's Place. Your first mod should be CZ's Stage 1 25+ hp(or wait for Stage 2 if you want more serious power 45+ hp). I will be upgrading my Stage 1 to a Stage 2 probably in June -- should be out and available by then.
I recommend the Borla exhaust -- or the B&B -- check out Vividracing.com.
I am going to lower mine when it warms up -- looking at the JIC or HKS coilovers -- or Yaw Power's Stage 1 street suspension.
The jury is still out on intakes -- I am personally probably going to wait to see what develops over the next 3 or 4 months. There are a few good units out there now (if you like sound rather than power gains) like Rotary Extreme and K&N. I was going to go with the RE and probably will if someone doesn't come out with an intake that is better designed than the stock unit. The ones out now are very very loud with minimal hp gains.
Borla is currently working on a header for the 8 -- also keeping my eyes open on that.
Welcome to the board! I drove my 8 down to Lincoln for all the home games last year and nearly caused accidents from all the gawkers on every trip :D
cardinal35 02-17-2004, 03:51 PM hey there- well, after reading of some problems with the K and N I am still not installing it- will wait a little longer. Hey RXHusker- has conzoomer hooked you up yet>? and what do you think of the Greddy system - straight pipe and exhaust>? I am counting down the days till spring- I just drove my car yesterday for the first time in over 3 weeks!!!! I was on I-80 and ran into some first-gen 7's- they were all pretty fun to ride with for awhile- those things are still quite quick!
RXhusker 02-17-2004, 04:16 PM Kain -- is that you? Or are you officially cardinal35 now? ;)
I am waiting on intake also -- would go with Rotary Extreme now if I had to -- little worried about the K&N.
I've got the MazdaSpeed body kit coming :D
Will probably pick-up the HKS Hipermax II coilovers and end of April when I put my summer tires back on. I must say the 8 with snows goes great -- and as you know we have gotten much more snow that usual around here!
Waiting for Stage 2 and midpipe/high flow cat. Hoping those will be in by end of April also -- going to be a fun Spring/Summer.
We need to organize a local NE/IA RX-8 get together -- will probably see many more on the road when it warms up -- hence my reason for getting the MazdaSpeed body kit -- don't want to look like everyone else -- especially that other titanium 8 driving around West O.

cardinal35 02-18-2004, 11:04 AM I guess I am cardinal35 now -I did the logout and everything but keep getting the cardnal designation>? oh well I guess. anyhow- the mazda speed kit?!?!?!?!?!? the whole thing?!?!?!?!?!? man your the man! where did you order it from>? did you get it prepainteds to the tit-grey or do you have to do that here somewhere>? also- who are you having it installed by>? so you mentioned stage2- are you just going to that directly>? I am waiting to see what K&N says- other wise will pry return and get the RE intake. a meetup is called for definitely- so do you fall under these new recalls>? I believe I do :( another day or two in the shop- what can you do.
RXhusker 02-18-2004, 12:06 PM Try going into IE and deleting your cookies and then log back in -- this "should" reset you.
I got the MS kit from Trussville -- everything but the rear bumper -- didn't think it added much. I wasn't going to do it now (planned on performance mods only this year and then appearance next year) but Trussville had an MS wing with a scratch on it that they sold me for only $430 so I went ahead and picked up the rest since they waived the shipping charges. I will install it myself -- my office has a detail shop in the parking garage (great place -- they do all of Willy T.'s cars and all the new Porsches sold at Olsen) and the guys there also do mods, etc. -- they offered to help just for the fun of it -- also going to fix the scratch on the wing for me.
Another guy in my garage got an 8 with the stock wing -- so I figured I had better get the MS kit so I didn't lose my car in the crowd ;)
No will install Stage 1 next week and then upgrade to Stage 2 -- CZ said it is only a software upgrade now that he has redesigned the unit.
Called yesterday to schedule the recall service -- they are checking on parts arrival and then supposed to call me back to set the time.
cardinal35 02-18-2004, 12:17 PM I delete my cookies every tuesday - has not helped yet :( anyhow- i saw that wing and was thinking of getting it too- looks like I missed out :) I will call olsen too about scheduling- they need to also fix my ashtray. so what are you gonna do with the stock wing>? hint hint. next week stage 1>? man you must be excited! We had a major icedam and had a ceiling collapse- quite a winter with all the snow- reminds me of back home- but we don't have gutters there! ;) OH so does your machine fall under both recalls>? am looking forward to doing a little driving at lunch with the nice weather- since I don't drive her much this winter- I am holding off on any mods till spring- especially after sitting on this K&N intake. I am jealous of your 8!
RXhusker 02-18-2004, 12:28 PM I don't have the stock wing -- thought it looked too Eclipse-ish
I would create a new ID called Kain2 (or Kain8, etc.) and use it -- wonder what is going on with the "real" Cardinal35?
Yes both recalls -- also having them do the TSB issue on the hot center console/cup holders -- wasn't a big problem last summer but it did get warm when the car was going with stop and go traffic alot. Also asked about a new battery -- Mazda has released a new battery for the 8 -- I always park inside but the few times I have had it out in the cold it has really cranked to get started -- thought the new battery may be a fix for that.
We will have to plan a drive -- also planning a Zaino session once the weather gets real nice.
Sorry to hear about your ceiling -- a few of my neighbors have also been having problems. Fortunately we have great ventilation in our attic and haven't had any issues.
cardinal35 02-18-2004, 12:58 PM yeah I have never been sold on the stock wing- but thought the mazda speed was too much $$- BUT I do like the euro rear lip spoiler quite a bit! yeah we had an ice jam that completely tore the gutter off the house on tyhe side where the ceiling collapsed- thank god for insurance huh>? I will try creating a new Kain this afternoon:) I have also tried emailing cardinal to see what they thought but no response>? My cupholders got hot as heck last summer as well- as far as the battery- I had not drove my car for almost a month- but it was in the garage and I would start it up every few days- there were a few times I was worried with the extended cranking time- I will bring this up with them as well- was thinking of maybe getting an optima battery- zaino is what my car has been begging me for- hey! have you had any rust problems on your lugnuts>? also I took my truck to the new fantasy carwash over in east lincoln (180th and center ;) ) and got the delux wash- it actually DID NOT touch my truck! was thinking of taking the 8 there- what do you think>? Oh and sans the guys at the end with the dirty towels rubbing dirt into your paint for a tip
RXhusker 02-18-2004, 02:16 PM The euro spoiler is cool -- I would probably have gotten that if the MS wing wasn't tempting me for only 4 bills -- hard to pass that up!
My 8 will never see a carwash but Fantasy's is the best of the automated places. Visual Perfection - the detail shop in my building will baby your 8 and do a complete hand wash inside and out for $25 -- I have only let them wash her 5 times and only because it is freezing outside -- otherwise I do it myself and only with Zaino :D
No rust problems -- but I have had my winter rims (and lug nuts) on since November.
There is a copy of the cupholder TSB on the board if you need a reference for the dealer.
cardinal35 02-18-2004, 03:34 PM what is the name of that place>? you can email me at jnebesniak@biotamorph.com if you don't want it on there- I want to take my girl there- and yeah the fantasy's is cool- with their three differnt color of foams that squirt out on your car :) also that makes since about your lugnuts! I think I am gonna get some aftermarket ones-kinda have been doing yellow everything- but am not sure about yellow nuts- have you painted your calipers yet>? I saw a yellow 8 at lunch- he looked as happy as I was driving. Is he on this board that you know of>?
RXhusker 02-18-2004, 04:05 PM Visual Perfection 14301 FNB parkway 964-1221 -- Just tell them Jeff with the RX-8 referred you. They are in the yellow pages under Auto Detailing. Great guys and they treat the cars like their own -- like I said they do all of Willy Theisen's cars and you know how many he has!
I am going to paint my calipers once it warms up. The only yellow one I have seen in town is the demo at Olsen.
I have a friend that sells industrial chemicals -- including the soap for certain touchless carwashes ;) and he said the stuff is good at taking grime off the car but is terrible for the finish -- also the wax finish they spray on is not what you would want on your 8 -- will definitely need to dawn wash and clay bar before you Zaino it this spring to get that stuff off.
cardinal35 02-18-2004, 04:31 PM sounds good sounds good. I never washed my 8 in there- just my truck- but was tempted- but no longer- thanks for the heads up- I will give them a call! what color you gonna paint them>?
Kain is back!!!! Had my machine rebuilt yesterday! looks like it purged the cookies all the way :) I am happy to be myself again.
RXhusker 02-20-2004, 10:22 AM Welcome back Kain! I kept thinking of those identity theft commercials ;) Knew it had something to do with the cookies.
Those Volk GTC Face-2's that autobauhn posted are tempting me severely this morning -- I better hide the AmEx card :D It is dangerous when the 8 is your company car -- and you own the company!
RXhusker 02-24-2004, 10:57 AM Welcome to Hskr8!

welcome new husker! by the way last friday a buddy of mine brought over the 96 fiesta bowl from husker vision- it was great! (I did not move to NE till 98-but have always been a husker fan) exactly an hour long and crazy smash-mouth football! It really made the last two years teams look even worse- we need a new lawrence phillips ans christian peter! maybe pederson was right. anyway enough big red politics- how is the body kit coming rxhusker>? I REALLY want to see it
RXhusker 02-24-2004, 11:36 AM I have the wing and got it repaired already -- just waiting to put it on. The front bumper should be here end of the week (truck freight on that) and the side skirts here next week (they were out of stock). I also just this morning ordered the R-Magic eyelines and JIC coilovers from Vivid :D Dang this is going to be a mean machine
I guess-! how the heck am I ever going to keep up with you on our ride>? :)
RXhusker 02-24-2004, 11:46 AM I'm thinking you may have to put in that 20B 3-rotor from Acosta to keep up
mooneycj 02-27-2004, 12:27 AM Hello, I'm mooneycj and I'm addicted to rotaries!
This is my 1st post, just recently discovered the forum. I'm in Omaha, NE. I have a 1 month old (just turned over 500 miles today) winning blue with touring package and a spoiler. This is my 2nd rotary experience, the 1st being a 1986 RX-7 that I bought my new bride for a wedding present. The RX7 was good, the RX8 is great!
Will look forward to chatting with others from the midwest and Omaha area.
mooneycj
hi mooneycj! welcome welcome welcome. we all got to get together at least for a lunch- make a real husker 8 club! and rxhusker, your right I think! :) have you figured out anything else on the sr engineering>?
mooneycj 02-27-2004, 09:39 AM "we all got to get together at least for a lunch- make a real husker 8 club!"
I'm in, just let me know when and where
mooneycj
RXhusker 02-27-2004, 10:26 AM Welcome mooneycj! What part of town are you from?
I am up for a lunch and a drive! We just need to pick a date. If we wait a few weeks I will have my MS bodykit installed so everyone can see what it looks like in person :D
With Nebraska weather who knows if we will be driving in a couple of weeks though :) we could do both>? maybe next week after the rain then have a MS kit unveiling lunch!!! A few nights a go I saw a red one on 80 and i,l,q exit- I was driving my truck- but man looking at it driving and pacing next to it made me fall in love all over again!!!!!
RXhusker 02-27-2004, 10:50 AM Next week looks a little rough weather wise -- but I am available for lunch on Wed. or Fri.
good- thursday I am going to the sons of italy- which between wednesday and frisday looks better weather-wise>? and where would be a good place we could all meet that might be between us>??? where is mooneycj located at>?
RXhusker 02-27-2004, 11:27 AM How about Friday -- someplace central for everybody:
A few ideas:
Sam & Louie's on 76th & Cass St.
BrazenHead on 78th & Cass St.
Jim & Jenny's 90th & Maple
all of those places are perfect for me- what about our new member>???
mooneycj 02-27-2004, 03:09 PM Any day but Wednesday works for me. I'm in West "O" but don't mind driving. Brazenhead works, Panera's (I'm on a diet!), Great American Bagel, Olive Garden, Applebees - all on the Dodge St. corridor. More upscale and west would be Charleston's, Upstream, McKenna's. Since I'm the newbie, you guys pick, anything is fine for me. Just a reminder, I'm a middle aged, thinning hair conservative - don't want to scare anyone away :)
mooneycj
Well I could do friday at brazen head- just need two other confirmations:) and ;0 nobody is scarewd away! :)
mooneycj 02-27-2004, 03:32 PM Addendeum: Friday noon doesn't work so good for me after all, I looked at my calander wrong. A late lunch (say 1:00 - ish) could work, however. Let me know.
mooneycj
LATE LUNCH ON THAT FRIDAY WORKS FOR ME- I USUALLY DON'T TAKE LUNCH TILL ONE ANYHOW :) let's see what RXHUSKER has to say
RXhusker 02-27-2004, 04:24 PM Any time is fine with me. My office is at 144th & Dodge so any location works -- Kain-- your at 72nd right? Probably should go to BrazenHead (though Charleston's is a person favorite :D )
mooneycj -- I don't think you'll scare anyone away ;) I'm 38 (is that middle aged?) no thinning hair -- but definitely a conservative.
We should email or PM others on the list from Omaha.
Omahawk
Blizz81
RX8Sooner
Huskerz79
There is also a guy in my building that bought an 8 (Blue with appearance package) a while back -- I'll leave a note on his car.
I should have my JIC coilovers installed by next Fri. and maybe my MS wing.
I EMAILED THAT LIST OF PEOPLE AND INVITED THEM

Thanks Kain! So we are on for Friday @ 1:00 at Brazenhead.
blizz81 03-01-2004, 11:16 AM I'll see if I can reschedule a 1:30 on Friday to make the lunch.
It also might depend on my transportation availability...my maxima is still having the same problem even after the clutch replacement on Friday.

Phil -- let me know if you need a ride
mooneycj 03-01-2004, 01:42 PM I'm in. 1:00 pm Friday at Brazenhead.

yeah that was about the exact time too! it must have been you! nice ride! A guy I know got an auto red tuesday, I saw it in person last night- first time I have seen one in person, the smaller wheels and different design really made the car look different! He is hoping to be at brazenhead friday as well
yep friday at 1- sans any major changes in this storm that we are getting today:) i.e. 6 inches of snow or something:)
RXhusker 03-04-2004, 09:57 AM Let's hope we just get rain! I have to drive to Lincoln later this morning.
The guy in my building with the Blue 8 is also going to come.
I had the MS wing and eyelines put on yesterday. Looks good IMO -- but my wife's laughter when she saw it is still haunting me :(
Also had the JIC coilovers put on a few days ago. Have been playing with the ride height -- think it is just about right now -- scraped my exhaust shield leaving my driveway yesterday and had to raise it up a little. Softest setting is like stock in terms of comfort but definitely more stable on the turns. I have it cranked down 2 clicks from softest right now and it is handling very nicely.
Should have the rest of the MS bodykit put on next week.
well last night at the ten o'clock news WOWT said NO snow! well when I left for work at 5:30, yeah there definitely was some snow- drove my truck, did everyone else drive their cars today>? are we still on or should we reschedule for next week>?????
so is that a "still on" from Hskr8>? :)
RXhusker 03-05-2004, 10:25 AM Looks like just clouds til later today -- not a great day but should be OK if everyone still wants to do lunch. Might be hard to get in touch with everyone to reschedule but it doesn't matter to me if we wait til next week or go today.
p.s. -- I should have adjusted my JIC's to soft yesterday before I drove to Lincoln -- setting 5 while on I80 is a little hard on the fillings and ribs :(
well I am in if everyone else is as well. I can swing by home and switch vehicles before I go. let's see if we get any other responses- (I was looking forward to the photo op as well ;) )
yes I have stock tires as well :( - just not a "stock" truck so I don't usually worry about it ;)
we will follow the radar- and NO there is not a official club as of yet- I nominate RXHusker to chair it though- I could make a logo and even host a little site or something if we wanted to do that>?
RXhusker 03-05-2004, 12:35 PM Well are we on for today? I just got out of a meeting but the weather looks ok (not snowing or raining).
RX Club of ? (Neb., NE and IA, Heartland, Midlands, etc.) sounds good to me -- I could coordinate. Let's see annual dues of $500 payable to RXHusker should get that supercharger installed ;)
I will be going to the Spring Game. My 8 year old son is a Big Red Fanatic so I am sure he will expect dad to take him.
I am in- might be a few minutes late so I can switch cars- but am shooting for 1 definitley! we an discuss geographic range at lunch ;)
and I will be at the spring game as well! not worried about getting tickets before hand though....unless you have heard something I don't know?? ;)
looks like I better hunt up some tickets:) GO BIG RED! I heard bland quit today :( I heard that GRANT wistrom is going to the seahawks though :) (BTW I like the seahawks)
blizz81 03-05-2004, 01:11 PM I'm stuck here on a project that popped up a week and a half ago that's just been dragging out. :( One of those "here's how we thought we were going to do it....oh, I guess we should tell the IT guys our plans too, since we're leaving in a week" that turns ugly...
Good news is, I think after way too much $$ and months later, the maxima seems to finally be fixed.
But it's too bad I can't join you guys this time and oogle at a collection of 8s. I'll be keeping my eye out for meets though - I definitely have to see the mazdaspeed kit/wing and new mods on RXHuskers.
RXhusker 03-05-2004, 01:14 PM Phil -- you are really going to be gripping the dash if we take that run through Deer Creek again now that I have the JIC coilovers on! The 8 handles like it is on rails now -- and it was no slouch before. Hope you can make it next time.

I'll try to post them up later tonight.
mooneycj 03-05-2004, 04:26 PM RXhusker, Hskr8, Kain: It was fun meeting you guys for lunch! Lets do it again then go for a drive next time.
RXhusker, I appreciate the tip on the detail shop. I want a ride in your car when you get the CZ stage 1 back and operational. I think I sense a Omaha powerbuy brewing!
mooneycj
definitely! most bang for the buck!!!! and that borla buzzing was almost seductive! :) nice meeting you all!!! we should really think about setting a name and maybe a logo or something>?
good start!!! rotary of Ne, etc reminds me of a rotary club like my grandpa was in- I like midwest rotary, and midwest mazda! what about a pun maybe?? I don't know_ I have another meeting to wrap the day up with- I will brainstorm this weekend-EVERYONE HAVE A SAFE AND GREAT WEEKEND!!!!
RXhusker 03-05-2004, 05:18 PM If we want to include the RX-7's (or future rotarys) we should stick Rotary or RX -- if we want exclusive RX-8 -- then RX-8
Rotary Power
Rotary Rockets of NE
RX Club of NE
No Pistons Nebraska ;)
I really gotta go! but yeah I would never advocate snubbing a seven! I am sure we will all think this weekend and come up with something;)

No snubbing a 7 -- at least until I have CZ stage 2, a header and a good intake installed :D May need to wait for a lighted fly and a supercharger too!
p.s. check out www.rotaryrockets.com
If I remember way back in the old days (late 80's) I think the national RX-7 club was called the Rotary Club of America and the magazine they published was called Rotary Rocket.
mooneycj 03-05-2004, 07:44 PM I like midwest RX, has a nice ring to it. Say it fast a couple of times.
mooneycj
MichRX7 03-05-2004, 08:09 PM Start a new city...call it,
Wankle, Nebraska!
RXhusker 03-07-2004, 05:59 PM I recently rebuilt my home PC and now I can't find the password to upload the pics through my FTP client -- have a message in to get my password but nobody seems to be working at the ISP this weekend :(
blizz81 03-08-2004, 04:22 PM Wow, you guys got 4 gathered spots on a Friday afternoon? I guess that is a big strip lot.
Cool stuff - lookin good everyone :D
Jeff - I like the eyelids from that pic at least. Looks aggressive. A ride with the JICs would be sweet. You should take the 8 to an autox event or two this spring and rip it up :)
low-plains rotary?
rotary midwest?
plains wankel?
when are we gonna meet up again???? Got my recalls done- had to drive a neon:(
I had woodhouse do it cause they sent the recall card- my wife had to pick it up due to me being stuck at home with my sick daughters at the time so I will have to ask her what they said, and I will also overlook the receipt thing- I don't know if it was cause I had not drove it- but I went out last night to get milk and it seemed all tuned and ready to rock!!! (you know how these things sometimes just feel like they are in their sweet spot, and then sometimes they don't at all ;) ) well last night it felt great!
RXhusker 03-09-2004, 11:57 AM There is a procedure to check if you got the "L" reflash. I think you turn the key to on (but don's start the car) and pump the brake pedal at least 20 times in 8 seconds. The oil pressure gauge will sweep from 0 to middle and back if you have the "L" flash. The real instructions are in one of CZ's threads.
as I am pretty busy today (catching up from yesterday) could you save me from the search and could you tell me what the "L" reflash does exactly? I will do this test at lunch
hey thanx buddy!!!!!! sounds interesting- I could definitely use some better gas mileage- especially with this gas HIKE they are predicting! did ya'll get your cars cleaned this weekend??? I am gonna go check my 8 now for the "L"
I got BOTH done. well I did it twice and the oil guage bar did not rise :( oh well, will have to look into that- need to get my ashtray fixed so will have to ask about it then. I have the other TSB's done except the engine cover grommets- will pry ask about that then. Woodhouse is very great when it comes to traffec into the service dept. I know about the rotary mechanic at stan olsen- but I have been under the impression stan olsen sells WAY to many cars to be serviced in that one service center- and we have bought many cars there- it just always seems lke I am lost in the crowd there- whereas woodhouse is the exact opposite! just my 2 cents

Hmm...actually the one I posted is just a "buy", and then the group shows up at the Revolution, lol... ;)
MichRX7 03-09-2004, 06:34 PM Included in the registration fee is all the drag racing and autocross (yep, cones and timers) you can get in on Saturday. If you want to upgrade your registration for the road course/driving instruction that would be "ala" Laguna Seca.
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18968
That thread has a link to a map of the course and description. I hope you can make it, the more RX8's the better. ;)
MichRX7 03-09-2004, 07:46 PM The road course is very challenging. On the first time out everyone will have an instructor. After that you will be evaluated and broken up into groups by experience levels. If needed an instructor may ride with you again.
It'd be awesome to see some 8's out there. Register soon, space on the road course is limited to the first 45 registered/paid attendees and it is filling up quick!
MichRX7 03-09-2004, 08:37 PM There are four groups of 15 cars (the instructors get to drive their vehicles in the fourth group). You should expect four 20 minute sessions, two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
We will break for lunch around 12:30. We are hoping to have an exhibition race with some Star Mazda cars while everyone eats lunch. Seminars will also be run throughout the day on Sunday for those not participating in the road course (and for those waiting for their next run group).
blizz81 03-09-2004, 09:26 PM btw, http://www.nrscca.com/index.php is the page to the local SCCA chapter which holds lots of information and links to local activities and events, including SCCA Solo/SoloII autocross information and schedules.
I've been to a couple of the Solo II events as a spectator - it's a good time, and an inexpensive way to rip around on a pseudo road course (and compete against others, if you're into the competitive part of it). The two I went to were at Offutt and the parking lot they used was large and in pretty good shape.
I didn't know there was a fuel mapping flash put out by Mazda. Took 'em long enough ;) I'll have to read up on that...
Hskr8 hey there!!! I have a wedding we have to go to that tentative weekend of the rotary revolution :( but we should definitely look into some of these local autox events- like the ones out at offit! I would be down ;) we need to start another brainstorming session for a name and maybe plan another lunch/?/meet.
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 09:11 AM I am booked with a client the weekend of Rotary Revolution :( Oh well -- have to make some money to pay for more mods ;)
Here is where we need to be playing -- need to organize an RX-8 day at the track Mid America Motorplex (http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/code/track_main.asp)
I am also thinking of heading out to Colorado for Omicron's Mountain RX-8 meet and taking some drives through the canyons!
with the track day I am sure we could get a club (need a name hint hint ;) ) rate and also maybe a club rate on lessons as I am sure most local members have not had much track training. I have not in almost 15 years and would not mind some additional lessons
the poll sounds like a good idea. maybe RX Plains? what word really describes this immediate area???
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 10:14 AM Ain't nothin plain bout my RX! ;)
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 10:24 AM Seems like we want to stick with a regional theme combined with a rotary - non-RX-8 specific theme with "Club" on the end.
For Example:
Midwest
Plains
Nebraska/Iowa
Mid-America
Heartland
Husker
Midlands
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Rotary
RX
Rotors
Wankel
++++++++++++++++++++++++
We could skip our IA brothers and just be the Husker RX Club.
Rotary Power Midwest
Heartland RX
RX Power
I am used to paying people to do all this ad agency work -- too much right brain effort for me :D
I am leaving for 10 days in Scottsdale :D I'll check in occasionally and see what you guys come up with.
EDIT: Good thinking Hskr8 -- we must have been thinking typing at the same time.
I like it!- besides, it will keep the haykeye and cyclone fans away ;)
soon as we hear the chimes I can start aon a few logo mockups!!! cool cool!!! we could even get polak to maybe get us some decals (unless anybody ahs some local vinyl hookups??)
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 10:52 AM Husker RX Club sounds good to me.
I knew if I told you I was leaving for 10 days this would get done!
Now we just need a banner for Memorial Stadium this Fall. ;)
HUSKER RX CLUB!!! I have indeed started some mockups ;) and congrats on the banner comment- firt time I laughed outloud today :)
yes I am stoked incognito is moving to center- supposedly that is his natural position- interesting they are handling his assault charges internally though- pry send him to another anger management course :) but amos as wide receiver?? he did make some nice interceptions last year huh, oh and ross is still one but horne moved to three- all very interesting!!!
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 11:15 AM Got my recalls done yesterday and the "L" flash done. I think it does run more smoothly now - esp at the top end -- Borla seems to pop a little less. The only thing they didn't due was the TSB on the hot cupholder/center console. Wasn't a big problem for me last summer but thought I would get it done anyway -- part will be in when I get back. 8's made after Sept. automatically have the heat shield in place -- if you have an earlier VIN you should request it -- I had to take the TSB info off this forum to the dealer -- they couldn't find it in Mazda's offical info.
We will have fun in AZ -- have a house down there on a golf course -- so can just relax. Taking the kids to NHL, NBA, Arena Football, and MLB Spring Training games. Also going to go to Vivid Racing and visit with Huff and see his car. Try to get a few rounds of golf in and ride the Harley we have down there.
mooneycj 03-11-2004, 11:17 AM Husker Rx Club works for me. I also like the idea of some "track time" down at the new track near Plattsmouth - have always wanted to do that. I have a buddy that races motorcycles down there, sounds like he has a lot of fun. Do you suppose there is any chance at getting some driving instruction along with the track time?
mooneycj
I remember christian peter had to have a coach go home with him EVERY night to keep him in check! and yeah I heard horne was moved back last year for the (Randy) moss factor- only he is not a moss if you know what I mean! so sounds like the same thing- mooneycj- I think we should definitely try to get some lessons packaged with some kind of club deal/arrangement
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 11:43 AM Here is the info on the cupholder:
FRONT CUP HOLDER / CENTER CONSOLE BECOMES HOT
Applicable Models
Model Starting S/N Ending S/N
2004 RX8 00000000 40113124
Some customers may complain of the front cupholder area of the center console becoming hot after extended driving, causing cold drinks to warm. Due to the heat from the exhaust system (catalyst), the center console (cup holder area) becomes hot. This is due to insufficient insulation between the floor panel N cup holder. A insulation pad is available to reduce the heat transfer to the center console. 1. Remove the upper panel, hole cover (cigar lighter) and storage box from the vehicle. (See WSM 9-17-8) 2. Remove the six screws from the upper panel and remove the rear console. (See WSM 9-17-8,9) 3. Attach the heat insulater pad to the bottom of the front cup holder in the rear console removed at the above step #2. NOTE: Be sure to attach the heat insulator pad so that the bottom of the cup holder is wrapped. 4. Re-install the parts reverse order of removal. Parts information: F151-55-161 Heat insulator pad
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 11:45 AM Who wants to contact the Mid-Am Motorplex and inquire about car club activities and costs? I have heard the Porsche club "owns" the place -- time for a new Sheriff in town!
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 01:47 PM The detail shop I have you guys info on has been doing a lot of the World of Wheels cars. If you see a PT Cruiser tricked out with the American Flag and eagles -- he almost took out my 8 blasting out of the garage when I was coming back from lunch today :(
Hskr8 -- congrats on being a senior "member" ;)
where is world of wheels and how much is it? I was to go to the cabin this weekend but it is looking like rain and we might as well be stuck in our house with the girls- an outing would be welcome:) at least it isn't the monte carlo club that owns the place (mid-america) ;)
well the texas bikini team pry never have any problems finding sponsors ;) well that all looks pretty crazy- I wouldn't mind seeing suki's car for some reason- 13 is quite a bit though.......now I just have to convince my wife the texas speedo team is there- and then when we get there I will have to act surprised and say I thought it was the speedo team but evidently it is the bikini team!
I think if it does end up being rainy all weekend I will end up going just to get out of the house
they are called the scarletts! ;) one of the fringe benefits of going to the games :) but yeah I will- will pry know tomorrow night so will post pertaining to that tomorrow night after my girls go to sleep
Used to rarely post- only read :) I like that idea!- when can we have try-outs???
YOU ARE A GENIUS! A TRUE GENIUS!!! my friend! hey have you ever checked out the veilside body kits?? I really like their new one and it is quite affordable.........
I like it stock as well- but also blown out- as that is why I did the same- figured screw OEM and wait for some other stuff to come out. I am married- but I like women whether I know them or not- but I can't ask them out either way ;) but yeah- I like import tuner mag cause not only for the cars- but the girls next to the cars are great- anyway, just type in veilside in google- you'll find it quick- I like the kit with the flower graphics on it- not the flowers but the kit-(their new one)
mooneycj 03-11-2004, 04:40 PM I just set up a 3M Scotchgard install next week with Visual Perfection. I talked to Mark on the phone, he was great. Will probably have him install the front and rear rotary accents as well (are on order). Thanks for the tip, Rx8Husker! Will let you know how it turns out.
mooneycj
that is the one- with the huge flair out in the front! did you check the prices?? yeah I like this car- almost as much as I liked my 3rd-gen 7! but this one I can live with better- I think if you stiffen it up it will be as able as the seven-especially with the zoomers piggy-back! Well good luck with the floor- I hate when your car is at the dealer- so are you getting it reflashed then??
mooneycj 03-11-2004, 04:50 PM Good to know of a shop that does that 3M protection... hope it wasn't that expensive
I didn't ask. The brochure lists $250 for most vehicles. I'm sure the RX8 will be more.
mooneycj
RXhusker 03-11-2004, 05:10 PM I think that is less than 1 MU ;)
Mark will treat you right. Saw a Porsche they ClearBra'd last week -- looked very nice. His installer has a lot of experience. I will let him get some RX-8 experience on yours before he tackles my MS front bumper!
I think he said $395 for the whole package (front, mirrors, door handles, etc.) -- this was the same as I was quoted last fall at the local Xpel dealer. Just front bumper and lower part of hood is probably the $250.
Yeah in our house we had some laminate flooring in the kitchen, the rest of the house is original oak- anyhow we had a dishwasher break and leak all over while we were at work :( anyhow we replaced it ourselves with some more laminate as we were still undecided about what we wanted to do with the kitchen- anyway, it is NOT easy and I hate the final outcome (in contrast to the rest of the real wood) - so we are planning on laying some nice tile this spring
mooneycj 03-12-2004, 07:22 PM I'm going to hold off on the Stage 1 for now. A couple of folks have posted problems after the "L" reflash and stage 1.1 install. My car is working perfectly, not really sure I want to mess it up at this point.
mooneycj
RXhusker 03-12-2004, 09:56 PM My Stage 1.1 is now sitting in Omaha while I am here in Arizona -- it may be warm here but my mind is on the 45 HP sitting in a box.
I will let you guys know the real deal on Stage 1.1 when I install it. I am a little skeptical about the one reported issue.
Hskr8 -- I agree with you the "L" flash does add a little power -- you can feel the difference.
There are too many good roads to drive down here -- and I had to rent a minivan
hey all- snow sure sucked this morning :( am in the truck today- so a red fd yesterday! kid must have been going over 110 on I80 west near the 60th street exit! anyone know him>??
RXhusker 03-15-2004, 05:13 PM Snow -- what snow it is 90 degrees? Oh yeah I am in Arizona :D
Huper Optiks is the best but it is also expensive. I got it done in minneapolis. I'll give you the details whenI get back to NE.
well we still got some snow waiting for you here! :) another few days without driving the 8 <sigh> :(
RXhusker 03-17-2004, 11:50 AM Hopefully it will be melted by Sunday! Next week I am putting in my new Stage 1 and the MS front bumper -- going to be a fun week! I should then be able to get my final ride height adjusted and then a performance alignment.
How are you guys coming on the track info for MidAm Motorplex and our logo?
I have only seen one 8 (yellow with appearance package) on the road down here in AZ. TONS of 350Z/G35's though -- seems like they are as common as a Honda Civic ;)
MichRX7 03-18-2004, 06:40 PM Just speaking from experience. $1k would be pretty cheap to rent the track out. ;)
Plus...and I'd be surprised if that included insurance (and that is the real killer). :(
Feel free to bounce questions off me if you want since we are renting IRP's road course this year. I've got to pay track costs, corner workers, insurance, etc...
mooneycj 03-18-2004, 08:46 PM I had "routine" service today at Olsen's in Omaha on my RX8. Had an oil and filter change (1000 miles) and had front and rear rotary accents installed. I also had the airbag recall service, and am happy to report they didn't break the glove box damper strut during the fix. They didn't "reflash" my ECU, however. I had asked to have them check my car for available updates. The work invoice said "PCM update not needed at this time."
Overall a pretty good 1st experience with Olsen's. I called this am and asked if they could work me in. Angela said they had several no shows today. I was in at 1 pm and out about 3:30.
I'm having 3M clearmask applied at Visual Perfection on Saturday. Will let you know how it turns out.
mooneycj
hello all. As far as a membership goes pertaining to a "club" I think you are right as to us needing more members, and should maybe go the melting pot way that Hskr8 mentioned till we all want to go more often or get bigger. Maybe we could try to find some local sevens who would want to join in as well>?
blizz81 03-19-2004, 04:58 PM hello all. As long as you guys will let a pithy Maxima owner hang around close by... :)
Actually, I was up at Reagan(Woodhouse?) today and got a chance to test drive a Mazda 3i base model 5-spd. It was pretty nice for a $15k car. Gotta love that RX-8 style interior (well, you guys probably don't :) ) My frugal, reasonable side is still trying to convince me that an 8 is out of my league, so I built a 3s to my liking out to something like $19,5. I think the $20k range is more of what I should be shooting for rather than the projected $27k for the sport RX-8.
But at least the 3 would be in the family. Hey, I've still got months to kill myself over the decision-making process, so who knows :)
RXhusker 03-22-2004, 11:11 AM Hey guys -- I am back from Arizona -- reluctantly ;)
Installed my new Stage 1 late last night -- couldn't wait.
It took about an hour (I am no mechanic) and I did break a few clips :( but everything went back together properly. The 8 is much stronger at about 6k and higher. It is a very noticeable power improvement in the upper rev ranges :D Down below 6k feels the same as stock but the car seems to run even more smoothly than with the "L" flash and the "L" was noticeably more smooth than before. Went out for a good drive -- no problems -- lots of fun. The tires will definitely break loose going into 3rd now -- that didn't happen before. This morning when I started her up it seemed like the cold start idle was smoother than before. Well worth the 5 bills and the long wait.
we need to have just a quick "friendly" race stock vs. canzoomer and see what the difference is there!!! and glad to have you back- at least it is supposed to be nice here for at least a week!!
Blizz81-ANYONE is welcome! and I do like the new wagon threes quite a bit!
RXhusker 03-22-2004, 11:28 AM Sounds good Kain -- you will have to have Hskr8 or Blizz81 ride with you to make up the weight difference :(
RXhusker 03-22-2004, 11:45 AM I also think the new 3 is a great little car -- very impressed!
I stopped in at Vivid Racing when I was down in AZ and visited with Huff for over an hour. Got to check out his car and a few others they had there and take a tour of the facilities. Great bunch of guys -- would highly recommend if you are thinking of any purchases (exhaust, intake, body kit stuff).
I am having a hard time not ordering the Volk SF Challenges -- need to talk myself down or go to an RX-8 Mods Anonymous accountability group this morning.
mooneycj 03-22-2004, 06:51 PM Hey RXhusker, welcome home.
Just got my PCM updated today at Olsen's - they didn't squawk after I told them my wife flooded my 8 this weekend, took about 1/2 hour. Didn't do the "brake pump/oil gauge swing" thing to verify, also didn't see a sticker denoting the "L" upgrade under the hood. Engine seems to idle a bit smoother, starts fine. I miss the kick I used to get about 7500-7800 RPM though. Where did that go? Guess I'll have to get the CZ-1 upgrade. Can one of you guys help me install it? I'm a klutz around a toolbox.
My "clear" nosemask install went well on Saturday at Visual Perfection, looks good. I have to see Mark (the owner) in the morning, however, as the Mazda badge on the nose doesn't sit quite flush, I think it will be a simple fix.
RX8husker, when can I get a demo of your stage 1?
mooneycj
RXhusker 03-22-2004, 11:21 PM You will be in my building when you see Mark @ Visual Perfection -- just come on up to suite 204 and I will give you a peek at CZ Stage 1 :D You will probably see my 8 when you pull into the garage. NOTICEABLE power improvement at upper revs and much smoother as well. Mark is supposed to put on my MS sideskirts tomorrow -- I will be around all day except for a lunch meeting I have at Greek Islands -- hate to go to that place ;)
p.s. -- your car looked great today -- wish mine was that clean! The blue looked really really good in the sunshine.
Put my summer wheels/tires back on tonight -- my hard driving checking out the CZ inspired me to make the change a little earlier than planned.
mooneycj 03-23-2004, 12:34 AM I'll try and come up and say hello. Should be in the building about 8:45-9:00 am. Weather permitting, should be golfing about 11.
Had a couple of short trips this pm after picking the car up, but took a longer drive tonite. My car feels much better now. I'm not sure it's faster, but feels different and smoother. I think I'm going to like the "L" PCM mapping.
mooneycj
blizz81 03-23-2004, 09:50 AM I'll try and come up and say hello. Should be in the building about 8:45-9:00 am. Weather permitting, should be golfing about 11.
I'm jealous. We should get a club 4-some going sometime here in the spring/summer :)
we need to have just a quick "friendly" race stock vs. canzoomer and see what the difference is there!!!
What secluded location are you guys gonna do this at? :) I was always tempted to see how the maxima would fare against a stock (and now, non-L) RX-8.... :)
"What secluded location are you guys gonna do this at? I was always tempted to see how the maxima would fare against a stock (and now, non-L) RX-8"
I was thinking maybe here in front of my work at 72nd and Mercy?? LOL, jk! I am sure one of us knows a secluded location! and I would be curious about the maxima as well! :)
I saw a yellow three this morning on the way to work! it was pretty cool looking- the yellow really accentuated the grill! it was quite sexy.
Would this race be considered the next "meeting" of the club?
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 11:13 AM When I really want to go for a high speed run I head out to Elkhorn -- there is a secluded paved road down by the river north of town with only one way in and out (not even really sure why it is there) -- when you want to go triple digits -- this is the place to go.
well we definitely have the weather to do a few passes- this place sounds perfect! I wish Ike could be there ;) when would work for all you guys? friday night?
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 02:27 PM Friday night and Saturday I am tied up with my son's cub scout Pinewood derby -- some real racing ;) We are going to take the big trophy this year with our secret renesis powered Pinewood derby car! -- only engine light enough to be used (5 oz. max weight).
For some good twisties head up to Hummell Park area and drive up to Ponca hills on the back roads -- plenty of fun to be had exploring that area -- if you find the right road you will hit a great stretch that goes all the way over to Ft. Calhoon.
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 02:35 PM Had a lunch meeting at Greek Islands today and as I was heading down Dodge to the Interstate I see a red 8 in my rear view mirror -- I think it is Hskr8 so I wait for him to catch up -- not you Hskr8 -- some guy with the in-transits from Woodhouse still on. Well we do a little checking each other out as we head down 680 (It must be frustrating to get your new ride and then see RXHusker's 8 cruising down the road :D ) -- I'm in front and take the big sweeper on to 80 and I hit redline in 3rd shift to 4th -- you guys know what speeds that means  XXX mph. I see a state patrol merging on from 80 East and hit the brakes to get back to 70 -- I then notice that an STi was trying to keep up with us in the other lane -- he passed me still accelerating an almost locked all 4 tires up trying to slow down when he finally saw the patrol officer.
THAT was a GREAT story!!! especially cause I could picture the whole thing :) I am gonna try out those spots you mentioned as well! So maybe we could do a get together/race the next friday-weather-permitting?
omahawk 03-23-2004, 02:42 PM I followed the two of you until I had to get on 80 west.
you followed them in the STI or the 8?
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 02:52 PM omahawk -- do you have your 8 yet? You were going to get a blue one right?
omahawk 03-23-2004, 02:55 PM Neither, had to put my 8 plans on hold until at least July. I was just following because I hadn't heard Huskers exhaust yet.
Husker I pm'd you about my 8.
what were you following them in that you kept up on that 80/680 merge?
omahawk 03-23-2004, 02:59 PM My crappy cavalier. Husker did you see that wreck that almost happened right in front of the red 8?
well good luck to you on your quest for a blue 8 July!

No -- was it on Dodge or 680? You turned off for 80 West right when we really hit it around the sweeper! Man I love the coilovers on the corners -- glad I put the summer tires back on yesterday.
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 03:15 PM Mooneycj and I went for a little drive this morning -- took the corners and roundabout out here at FNB parkway -- he wanted to check out my CZ Stage 1 -- he will probably get. Maybe you guys should all order together and then we can have an install party and you can learn the lessons RXHusker learned the hard way at 11:00 Sunday night -- 3 broken clips and an hour doing a 20 minute job. Oh well it was a fun challenge and the performance gain was well worth it :D
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 03:37 PM I used those instructions -- they are all that you need. The clips I broke are:
1. On the ECU coverplate. This is also bolted down so I don't think the clip missing is an issue.
2. On the duct ports on the front edge of the outside of the ECU protector coverplate. There were two clips and I broke one.
3. On the plastic shroud that you remove from around the ECU -- this is not used with the CZ unit and is one of 5 clips so even if I remove the CZ I should be OK.
I always break clips! My big old offensive lineman hands are not made for delicate detail work! I broke about 6 clips putting in my exhaust finishers and few more in my trunk putting in the coilover adjusters. I also break every pencil or crayon I ever hold -- my kids hate it when I break their crayons :(
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 03:55 PM I got the ceramic 40% -- no bubbles -- excellent install job.
I saw mooneycj's clear bra -- looks great! Can't even see it from 4 feet away. They removed his front Mazda logo for the install and it isn't sitting flush on the hood now so they are ordering a new one to replace it. I suggested he just keep it off -- looks better without the advertising.
mooneycj 03-23-2004, 05:19 PM Rxhusker gave me a nice ride this am. The CZ1 really has a nice kick about 6000 RPM or so. His car (with the coilovers) corners flatter than mine, seems a little faster too with the CZ1.
I confirmed my "L" flash upgrade this am with the brake tapping test, then went out and drove hard to hopefully adjust the "learning mode" to it's highest performance. Now I can chirp the tires in the first 3 gears :).
Had a nice golf game with my buddy (shot a 87 - not bad for 1st time out this year). My buddy is a car nut too. He just got a copper colored 350Z Roadster. We swapped drives for a bit this afternoon. The Z has a nice throaty growl to it's exhaust note, has much more low end torque, but seems to peter out at the higher revs - not smoothe at all like the rotary. The roadster handles well but not as "slot car like" compared to the RX8. I think the Z roadster would beat me easily in straight line racing, but I'd get it back in the corners. Both are really nice rides, just different.
let me know if others want to do a Canzoomer mini-buy and group installation, I'm in.
mooneycj
mooneycj 03-23-2004, 05:24 PM "I'm interested in seeing Mooneycj's clear bra and how that turned out."
This reminds me of a funny situation yesterday. I called my buddy and told him I had my clear bra on and did he want to see it. There was a long pause on the other end of the phone, until he figured out I was talking about my car!
mooneycj
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 05:25 PM (shot a 87 - not bad for 1st time out this year)
Well -- now you have to spot me at least 10 strokes when we hit the links.
And no wearing the clear bra at my country club ;)
RXhusker 03-23-2004, 05:51 PM I think you have to get the Husker Spirit plates on your red 8 with "HSKR 8" -- that would look awesome!
blizz81 03-23-2004, 05:52 PM This reminds me of a funny situation yesterday. I called my buddy and told him I had my clear bra on and did he want to see it. There was a long pause on the other end of the phone, until he figured out I was talking about my car!
"It's not a bro, it's a manssiere!!"
RXhusker 03-24-2004, 11:27 AM What a beautiful day -- may have to go for a drive over lunch.
Hey all! I have worked a little on the logo for us- but have been swaped here at work with the first quarter ending. I have quite a window open after that so should really get to work on it then (I actually plan on wrapping this up today- so hopefully tomorrow sans any new server problems)
RXhusker 03-24-2004, 11:35 AM Great! Thanks Kain!
Does everybody have their tickets to the Spring Game? Just ordered mine for the game and the pre-game lunch/talk from the coaches and a few players.
RXhusker 03-30-2004, 10:58 AM Thought I would let you guys know that I now have all the MS body kit on :D
Also put in a Green Filter -- get a little different sound at the top end and IMO it does breath a little better. Nice compromise until a really good intake comes out -- or instead of an intake if better gains than current can't be found.
Also got clear bra put on the new MS front.
Still contemplating the Volks -- trying to control myself ;)
I am planning on going out the Rocky Mountain RX-8 Club event in June -- anybody else thinking of going?
Hope you guys have your CZ Stage 1 ordered -- really enjoying mine :D Thinking of getting the midpipe/cat -- just waiting for some sound feedback, etc.
RXhusker 03-30-2004, 11:50 AM You can get your stock wheels polished here in town at Tommy's wheels -- still have to powercoat (clear) over the polished wheel to seal it. The Volks are forged aluminum with a polished lip -- some of them have painted centers (black or gray) -- VERY high quality stuff.
You can check out the Rocky Mountain event activities in the Mountain forum -- have a meet with vendors -- track training and track event and a drive up through the mountain twisties.
The Autoexe body kit was my very close 2nd choice. Some of the others are just too radical IMO.
hey guys!! I have been so busy at work this week this is the first time I have even been to the board :( anyhow I have got the mazda font and I think it would be nice to use it in the logo- I had an idea but am not sure about it and wanted to know what you guys thought- the "z" in the mazda font is th eonly thing that really makes it recognizable (go look at your cars and you will see what I am talking about) anyhow, I tried spelling husker as huzker to incorporate the z- it looks pretty cool-but did not know how you guys (or how I even felt about it to be honest) felt about the spelling change??
HUSKR8 poking at the tit greys??? :) for how much I speed- my wife would not let me get a yellow one ;)
I love the veliside kit! is pry what I am gonna get-
and get the volks baby!!!! I keep looking at those too ....imagining...!!! anyhow-
COULD WE ALL TRY AND GET TOGETHER NEXT WEEK AND GO OVER THESE LOGOS-MAYBE FOR LUNCH AGAIN???
and OH YEAH! I went and met some people down at indian caves last weekend for some real rainy backpacking-anyhow, sunday it was not raining (and I had left later than I promised my wife) and there is a road out of that park that is solely for the park that nobody uses-long story short- I got her up to over 140- I saw 141, but did not look down again cause it was a shoulderless road! then I got on I29 N and just as I was getting on a red carrera 4 flew past! was a nice escort keeping right about 100, 105 the whole way back-I actually made up enough time my wife was not pissed! this car handles great! 140+ in thse things feels like 95-100 in my truck!.....anyway....................just thought I would share!
RXhusker 04-03-2004, 11:20 PM Hskr8 -- Thanks again for your help!!! p.s. -- your red 8 looked great trailing that Vette down Q street.
Just for fun -- I turned off the Stage 1 today -- can DEFINITELY tell the difference -- back on now and never going off again (til I upgrade or have to take the 8 in for service).
Lunch this week would be great -- forgot to synch my Palm so I'm not sure of my schedule next week -- think I am avail. for lunch on tues. or wed. -- will confirm on Mon. and post. How about we meet up on North 72nd Street for lunch and then head north and take a drive through Ponca Hills and down around Hummell Park before getting back to work?
140 mph Kain
I've hit 120 but didn't dare go any higher. On another note -- forget all the posts comparing the RX-8 and RSX-S. No street racing stories allowed -- so let's just say that even with 4 people in the 8 there is no contest.
mooneycj 04-04-2004, 12:47 AM I'm good for lunch this week, any day except Tuesday (golf day). I had a great drive on some roads in Iowa (Loess Hills area) this past week. Didn't hit 140, but pushed 110 a couple of times. The curves and twisties were the best, however. I love how the RX8 handles.
mooneycj
RXhusker 04-05-2004, 10:01 AM How about Wed. for lunch? It's either Wed. or Fri. for me this week.
How does a group Zaino event sound? With Spring here -- we should be using the claybar to get rid of the Winter grime and putting on at least 4 coats of Zaino SHINE :D
Hey all- I would prefer wednesday over friday, as I have a deadline that day :( and I like the idea of transposing the z for an s- it was right in front of me the whole time!!!! ;)
RXhusker 04-05-2004, 04:22 PM It would also be nice to print some "business cards" and see if can get the local dealers to give them to new 8 buyers to get them aware that the local enthusiast club exists.
Have you guys checked out the Rocky Mountain Rotary Club site that Omicron has put together? Check it out in the Mountain forum. Could give us a few ideas.
RXhusker 04-06-2004, 02:07 PM So where are we meeting for lunch tomorrow (assuming that is still the plan)?
The only place I really know that is north on 72nd St. is Famous Dave's @ 72nd and Military -- any other suggestions. I would suggest that we show up at 11:30 to discuss logo/club stuff and grab a quick bite to eat and then head out for some fun roads. :D My schedule is flexible tomorrow so any times would work for me.
P.S. -- I ordered PoLaK's caliper stencils yesterday and he said he would be glad to help print decals of our logo. Also ordered the hi-perf brake pads from Vivid.
hello all- well my deadline was pushed back a week - so I am cool for friday- that might be better due to the rain- I would prefer the roads to be dry (since I am running the potenzas) when we hit those new roads- especially since I am not familiar with them. Cards is definitely a good idea- I kinda went to the mountain forum and did not right away see the site you are talking about. I own quite a lot of server space so we could put up anything really-so wednesday or friday is good with me- but friday would be cooler for driving.
RXhusker 04-06-2004, 03:23 PM I just checked weather.com --
Wed. -- 70's and a few isolated showers
Fri. -- 50's and rain
I think tomorrow might be a better day but I am open for either one.
oh wow! is the weekend to be cold and crappy>? hope not! :) I am fine for either day- but we should have a consensus decision by somewhat early tomorrow?? cool? cool?
mooneycj 04-07-2004, 01:40 AM Wednesday works for me.
mooneycj
RXhusker 04-07-2004, 10:10 AM OK -- it is Wed. -- time for an executive decision -- looks like a nice day so let's go for it!
11:30 -- Famous Dave's (still waiting for a better suggestion) 72nd and Military
Agenda:
Discuss logo and club ideas
Quick lunch
Exilerating drive!
mooneycj 04-07-2004, 10:39 AM I'm in, but I'll have my 12 year old son with me. Hope that's OK. See you there!
mooneycj
Hey all- well my daughter is sick again and home- (with me cause my wife has multiple court cases today:( ) SOOOOO I am not going to make it either cause I don't want to take her out. I heard pollen is at incredible amounts and that might be part of your problem huskr8? ANYWAY, I have some logos and if everyone is still meeting I would like to mail then to the president and he an print them off>? we can mix and match from anything in these logos- hope you all like them if you get a chance to see them>?
RXhusker 04-07-2004, 11:52 AM Kain,
email what you have:
jwest@vantagepointcpi.com
Hope your daughter feels better! My wife has been very sick with allergies for the last week -- doctor has her on some new meds -- they seem to be working a little better.
RXhusker 04-07-2004, 11:53 AM Mooneycj,
Maybe we better rescedule for next week when Kain and Hskr* can make it. Let me know if you get this message -- otherwise I will drive to Famous Dave's so you know what's up.
Jeff
I will be at the next meeting!!!! (will send you those logos as soon as I post this) yes allergies are horrible- she keeps having bouts with RSV and the allergies from pollen certainly do not help! Hope you all like the logos or at least the direction they are going- next meeting we can get started on the website!! and when is this zaino saturday>? maybe the saturday after the spring game?? (cause it looks like this one will be cold)- anyway godspeed to all!
OH! and by the way the logos are all vector logos- which is better for giant blowups (say your car hood ;) ) or also for stickers such as polak could make :) anyway................
another thing- I am home and can work email but am not mapped to any servers here- sooooooooooooo if anyone is (rxhusker) you could put those logos on this board for everyone to see :) ;)
RXhusker 04-07-2004, 12:11 PM Logo designs courtesty of Kain:
RXhusker 04-07-2004, 12:12 PM More:
RXhusker 04-07-2004, 12:13 PM Last one for now:
mooneycj 04-07-2004, 01:16 PM Sorry I missed you guys. I was out flying with my son this am, got hung up in traffic and didn't make Famous Daves until about 11:45 - no RX8's in the lot so I came home. No harm, no foul.
mooneycj
RXhusker 04-07-2004, 01:52 PM Must have just missed you -- I stayed until 11:45 -- didn't look like you got the message on cancelling. Grabbed a quick sandwich at Arby's across the street and then went for a nice drive up north -- just got back -- what a great day outside!
Hi all- my daughter is now napping <whew!> anyhow- I apologize for the name change- just am super slammed lately- however it would not be that hard at all to change or add rather an "X" to the bottem right logo on page 19 (the one in the box right?) ALSO, Before this was all final I would remake the thing perfect- the rotor would be a lot better- but I just don't spend too much time on each one as I view them as "thumbnails" anyhow- we could still plan on friday if everyone is down? -sure does look like a good day to drive out there though :(
Good morning everyone! Hey husker8 thanx for the compliment! I just use different personalities when I design to get the different looks ;) anyhow, does anyone else have any opinions on the logos>?
RXhusker 04-08-2004, 08:51 AM I like the 3rd one down (right column) in the first set the best. I would add the color like the one below it and the Husker Rotary (RX) Club aroung the edge like you did in one of the other logos.
MichRX7 04-08-2004, 09:45 AM I like the third down on the right-side the rotor with the HRC in it. Yeah I know I don't get to vote, but I really liked that one so I thought I'd chime in... :)
It'd be cool to see some shirts with that on it at the Revolution. ;) You guys are really getting it together and active, it'd be cool to meet you.
-Mike
RXhusker 04-08-2004, 05:11 PM I think I just realized why I like that logo -- the HRC inside reminds me of the old Mazda logo:

But, let the rotary love bring all of us together. Plus, right now I'm all about RED. Hockey playoffs are my favorite time of year (well, except when the Wings get swept by the Ducks...err)
whatever you combine husker8 would be great! Once we all agree on it- I can then rebuild in vector from your psd so it will be able to be a better decal
RXhusker 04-09-2004, 10:15 AM The more I think about using a similar logo to the RX-8 Club (the ) -- the more I like it. I think there is a benefit to having a visual relationship with the RX-8 Club and other regional clubs like the Rocky Mountain RX-8 Club which also uses this similar rotor logo (http://www.polakgraphics.com/rocky.html)

mooneycj 04-10-2004, 05:26 PM Hskr8, I don't mean to offend, but I don't think 3 or 4 enthusiasts really constitues a "club" at this point. I like my car and enjoyed meeting you, Kain and RX8Husker for lunch a couple of weeks ago. I would like to continue that type of activity in the future if there is any interest, irrespective of any "club." Peace.

RXhusker 04-10-2004, 09:20 PM What in the world happened while I was offline today
Since posts were deleted I am not sure -- Omahawk PM'd me last week with some logo suggestions and info about his real estate venture. I suggested he post his logo thoughts on the forum for all to see and told him I would mention the real estate offer to you guys at our next get together. This forum isn't the place for marketing -- but a little casual networking outside of an online community is acceptable IMO. Again, I'm not sure exactly what happened --- so I am just guessing.
Hey guys -- if we don't want to start a club that's fine with me. If I don't recall, at our lunch meeting it was suggested and then someone asked me to head it up. Formal club or casual group -- makes no difference to me -- I just love my 8 and enjoy talking with others that are also enthusiasts.
Hskr8 -- hey man -- sorry you got upset. I've really enjoyed getting to know you and have really appreciated your help. I think Omahawk just got a little carried away with trying to market his new real estate sales job -- certainly not anything I endorsed.
I think I need a long fast drive now.
Well I think I may need to log-in on the weekends now or something. So I can make those changes and see what everyone thinks. Or should I not>? Maybe in the quest for peace we should all meet in person for lunch this week (pry the sooner the better after today) and go over the logos and potential changes- ALSO maybe try to get a clearer picture of what we all want for the club and maybe what direction we want it to go??? Husker8 don't worry about your temper- I have been known to lose mine a time or two with non8 lovers as well on thse boards- we are all human! :)
omablue8 04-13-2004, 02:22 AM Hello, I just got my 8 about a week ago and want to know where to get the ECU flash done in Omaha area. I know it's posted somewhere in this thread but over 300 posts so I figured it would be quicker to ask.
RXhusker 04-13-2004, 09:45 AM If you just bought it -- I would hope that your dealer already updated your flash during the pre-sale service. You can check by turning your key to the on position (not actually starting the car) and very quickly pump the brake pedal about 20 times -- watch the oil gauge -- it will sweep up to the halfway point and then back if you have the current "L" or "M" flashes. If you don't -- I would complain to my dealer that they should have updated the car when you purchased it to resolve flooding (the official reason) and mileage (unofficial benefit).
Welcome! omahblue8!
so where is everybody>? welcome omahablue-!!! you came in on a weird time for this thread I guess- any thoughts from everyone on a meeting>????
omablue8 04-13-2004, 01:30 PM Well, it looks like I get to make a trip to the dealer to get my ECU flashed. I tried what you said about 3 times and the oil gauge never moved. I guess it doesn't really matter since it looks like they are constantly coming out with new ones.
RXhusker 04-13-2004, 01:32 PM I am pretty booked this week -- but open next week.
I'm still not sure what transpired last weekend -- but the thread seems a little dead this week.
I got to check out and rev up a 360 Modena last week :D Still have a smile on my face -- what a sound that thing makes when you hit 5 or 6k rpms :D Having the engine right behind your ears doesn't hurt either -- and I was amazed -- same headroom as my 8 -- seat was very uncomfortable and interior not nearly as nice as my 8 -- but then again it is only a $150,000+ car ;)
yes- it is hard to say what happened when all the posts were edited out- seems if they were completely edited out maybe they should not have been on here in the 1st place>? ;) anyhow- where did you have access to this ferrari??? next week sounds good for me- hopefully towrds the beginning as I would like to get our peace and harmony back as soon as possible :)
RXhusker 04-13-2004, 03:23 PM If I post how I had access to the Modena -- I might get somebody in trouble -- let's just say that it was currently not owned and getting ready for sale.
Any day next week is fine for me at this point. Hope to install my Earth Grounding Cables this weekend. Also going to paint my calipers and use Polak's stencials.
where did you get the grounding cables - what color are they>? and what color are you painting your calipers????? do you have any other colors under your hood????
RXhusker 04-14-2004, 10:27 AM Silver cables -- the quality/design look excellent. Bought them from Z327 -- he advertised here and on eBay. No other colors under the hood. I like the silver look -- maybe blue. I saw Huff at Vivid's RX-8 -- he painted the covers under the hood the same color as the body (Ti like ours) -- looked really nice.
Calipers are going to be black -- I am debating on the RX-8 lettering in either red (Porsche look) or white (Ferrari look).
I also just got new fogs (yellow ion) and hi-beams (blue Xenon look) that I am going to try to put in soon.
THAT SOUNDS GREAT! how are the instructions for the grounding wires>? I think yellow would look good under our ti hoods as well- never even thought about ti under there though- hmmm :) so where did you get all the bulbs and lights? I keep wrestling with the caliper thing- in the end I am sure I will do it- but I will wait and see how your black look. So we still need to schedule a lunch. is husker8 interested?
mooneycj 04-15-2004, 05:19 PM I can try to make lunch next week too. BTW, just had Olsen's "flash" my RX8 to the "M" version. Took about an hour, can't say I really notice any difference in performance thus far.
mooneycj
RXhusker 04-15-2004, 10:26 PM mooneycj -- there is no power increase going from "L" to "M" -- just a few minor bugs corrected and a little work on the flooding issue -- CZ has said that the power and fuel maps are identical.
Lunch next week would be great -- let's check the weather and post some suggestion for days and places on Monday morning.
monday sounds like a good idea! you all enjoy the wekend and maybe I will see you at the spring game! they are now saying they think 60,000 people will be there!!!
RXhusker 04-16-2004, 12:19 PM Wish we could get a sell-out! Now THAT would be a record! Glad we have reserved section seats!
Reason #1,334,802 why I love my 8 -- played golf yesterday in an event at Ironwood (my club) -- parking lot was full of awesome rides including a new red Ferrari, at least 5 Porsches, 3 AMG variety Mercs SL600's, and a handful of 350Z/G35's. Anyway -- as we pull up the 11th fairway (by the parking lot) my playing partner asks me why that group of guys is standing around that car -- I look and see that it is my car :D -- then have the horrible thought that it was hit by an errant ball :( -- Thank goodness NO -- they are just trying to get a good look. The new red Ferrari parked a few stalls away must have been green with envy wondering what the rotary has that her 12 pistons doesn't ;) -- must be the ability to put a few sets of clubs in the trunk.
I thought it was general admission>? anyway- they areprojecting 60,000 and 10,000 seats are closed so it is as close to one as you can get I guess. what time are you headed down there to avoid some of the traffic>? are you all taking your 8's>?
RXhusker 04-16-2004, 02:44 PM No 8 going this time -- taking my son, dad and brother -- the 8 may seat four but my dad and brother are both 6'5" and over 300 lbs. -- the 8 wasn't made for that :p
The game is general admission -- we have reserved section seats and parking as season ticketholders who are also attending the pre-game brunch and talk from the coaches -- should be fun. We are leaving at 8:30 -- but we need to be there by 10 for the pre-game stuff.
