Jeff, I am just glad he is not suffering anymore. thank you! and Jeff you win! :) My schedule is either sunday afternoon after church or monday for lunch>? if neither of those work we could also do tuesday at lunch. I will show you my new car then as well :)
RXhusker 06-03-2005, 10:13 AM Great -- can't wait to see what you got!
Here are my guesses:
New Vette
911
M3
???? -- what else would be an upgrade from the 8
How about I buy you lunch on Monday. I could do late on Sun. afternoon if needed but it is pretty tight with both my sons having baseball games after church on Sunday.
your right on with those guesses Jeff :) I am gonna be at church late sunday for a babtism so let's do monday for lunch- you name the place! :) (just no sushi please)
RXhusker 06-05-2005, 10:19 PM I am not a good one to pick -- I love everyplace :) What's close to your office?
A few of my favs:
Greek Islands, McKenna's, the Taj, Fernando's, Charleston's, Biagi's ???
Let me know what sound's good -- anytime for lunch on Mon. works for me -- just let me know when and where.
Jeff
RXhusker 06-06-2005, 12:09 PM Kain - do we need to try for Tues.?
RXFORFUN 06-07-2005, 08:10 PM Kain, I am very sorry to hear about your Dad. :(
Please dont forget us when you are zooming around in your new car. Let us know what you ultimately decide to get.
God Bless.
fotofreddy 06-08-2005, 03:18 PM Anyone from Iowa still around ? Just got my 04 Lightning Yellow - Have not seen many 8's on the streets of Des Moines.
RXhusker 06-08-2005, 03:48 PM Welcome fotofreddy!
Don't hear from many Iowa 8's
Actually -- don't hear from many Nebr 8's lately either :(
RXhusker 06-15-2005, 03:36 PM Hello ... Hello ... hello -- is anybody out there?
midlife crisis 06-15-2005, 05:15 PM jus me lurking in Lincoln
RXhusker 06-15-2005, 11:56 PM Hi midlife -- Hskr8 works down in Lincoln if you happen to see a red 8 motoring around. Love the winning blue color.
RX8MAN04 06-17-2005, 10:24 AM i am here never fear. yellow gt in des moines since july of 2004. i live by chilli king merle hay and hickman. should drive by
RX8MAN04 06-17-2005, 10:25 AM opps 2003!
Stretchman 06-17-2005, 10:38 AM I am moving from California to Lincoln in July. I'll be bringing my 05 Shinka, so that's one more 8 in Nebraska! I'm really going to miss the curvy roads. Grew up in Nebraska, been in Cali for 4 years and now I'm coming home! Hope to see you guys!
RXFORFUN 06-17-2005, 01:16 PM Bad timing, I was just jumping on to Bi*#@, had Her all cleaned up and a *&$#@ bird used Her for target practice.
Anyway, hello to the newer voices on the site. What part of Cali Stretchman?
Hey Husker8, when are we going to get otgether again, I have got to see this turbo. :D (or more appropriately I have to hear this turbo ;) )
oops back to work
fotofreddy 06-20-2005, 03:17 PM RX8MAN04 -
Just another 04 Yellow checking in - Live in WDM, only had my 8 since the end of April 05- loving it so far.
I have only seen three other 8's in the last 2 months- Black, Grey and Yellow - are you the Yellow with Hawkeye plates?
After checking out your profile - you seem to be a Mazda expert - My 8 is stock right now, but I am looking to start adding on ...
fotofreddy 06-24-2005, 03:18 PM OK. so this thread has stalled- I just saw another Yellow this morning- had a stock spoiler, strakes, it appeared the rims where stock but had a bright chrome finish, and the front end was stock with chrome bars going across the grill and oil condensor openings - it looked very nice - rX8MAN04 - that your ride? Saw it in WDM near 50th and Westown. *Edit* So after reading your profile...I guess it was you. *Edit*
fotofreddy 06-24-2005, 03:30 PM RX8MAN04 - Did you get your window tint done here in DSM? If so where?
havunysj 06-27-2005, 08:48 AM hey, new rx-8 owner in west des moines here.
fotofreddy 07-01-2005, 11:08 PM Did everyone leave this thread?
RXhusker 07-01-2005, 11:15 PM Pretty much :( Been very lonely here in the IA/NE thread.
Tomorrow night is the TUNED car show here in Omaha. I wasn't aware of it (looks pretty big -- www.transonic-info.com) but I was taking a little drive this evening and was stopped by an MR2 -- the guy is the sponsor of the show and asked me to consider entering my 8 --- I may if I have time (my 9 year old son's team is playing in the state tourney tomorrow and I am not sure of the times yet).
omahawk 07-06-2005, 09:04 AM It's been awhile since I have been on. RXhusker, do you know where I can find 93 octane? I had to give up my 8 last week, traded it for a Saab 9-2x Aero. You are probably asking why I would do this, Child #3 is on the way. The best I can find is 91 and 92, don't want to have to worry about detonation with the turbo.
RXhusker 07-06-2005, 09:30 AM Tough to find better than 91 in Omaha unfortunately. You might try a Shell station -- I know there is one by 140th & Maple. I think the Shell Optimax premium is either 92 or 93.
Sorry to hear you had to trade your 8 :( but congrats on the new addition :)
midlife crisis 07-06-2005, 05:17 PM Are any of you Omaha guys going to compete in Lincoln on the 10th at the Neb. Regional SCCA meet???
I'm planning on at least attending but I cann't drive for sh**!
RXhusker 07-06-2005, 10:26 PM Here is the current state of my 8 (with the new wheels, turbo, etc.)
staticlag 07-07-2005, 06:09 AM Pretty nice,
As for me, I'm still trying to get my RB exhaust & RP high flow cat to hang correctly and not leak.
staticlag 07-10-2005, 05:48 AM Dang, there are gettin' to be a lot of 8's around these here parts.
So rarely do I see another winning blue, and today one was right next to me at a stoplight. Not to mention I saw 2 other 8s today.
Kinda makes me miss when people actually gawked at the car.
But I guess thats what an interesting exhaust sound, a rediclously shiny zaino job, and a blasting stereo are for.... Aggghhh!!!! Look at me! I need attention!!! lol.
RXFORFUN 07-11-2005, 01:44 PM Rxhusker NICE WHEELS!!!!
Those suckers look sticky enough to grip hair. I suppose they handle as beautifully as they look. Dang they are nice.
staticlag 07-18-2005, 01:20 AM Sheesh, I almost totally got rear ended on friday night.
I was in the far right hand lane on Dodge heading east at about 38th Street stopped at the red light. I was first in line nobody behind me, and only one other car to the left of me going down dodge also. Suddenly this '90s model buick just whizzes by me going at least 40 right over the curb and on the grass embankment/sidewalk to my right, narrowly avoiding a bus bench and light post... right through the red light!
Scared the heck out of me, so after the light turned green I raced up to get the plate # and see what the heck was happening. It was 4 black dudes w/ blue neon in their car, looking kind of drunk/stoned, they were going like 20 mph down dodge from that point on. None of them bothered to look over at me.
Had that guy not taken the curb/sidewalk/grass I would have been in one serious accident.
RXFORFUN 07-19-2005, 07:55 PM Hey just noticed our thread hit the 1000 mark.
Staticlag, hope you didn't stain your seats with that near miss on Friday. Honestly be careful with those situations, had a friend that had to duck and dodge for 15 minutes once by doing what you did. Thankfully all is well.
Stretchman 07-20-2005, 11:22 AM Hey everybody! Just checking in... If you see a Shinka, its me!
staticlag 07-24-2005, 01:47 AM Man Down!
Was driving on I80 just in front of the exit for 84th Street and saw a silver RX8 smashed into the sound barrier.
I hope everyone was okay, it looked like everyone was just standing around waiting for the cops.
Prayers.
staticlag 07-28-2005, 06:39 PM bump
RXhusker 07-28-2005, 09:37 PM The curse of sunlight silver strikes again :(
The only silver owner I know is RXForFun -- sure do pray it wasn't him. I also was driving down I-80 then -- probably around 9:45 pm and saw the police had someone pulled over -- actually saw the cops with guns drawn pull the guy out of the car (not an 8) and forceably cuff him. This was just east of 84th on the westbound side.
staticlag 08-02-2005, 02:16 AM I think I have seen those guys before! They were on 75 headed south from about Blair.
The Omaha RX8 annex needs to have a get together.
Signal 2 08-04-2005, 07:49 AM The Omaha RX8 annex needs to have a get together.
Hello all. Just when you thought all the lurkers were driven off....
Still have my FD and watching for any "get togethers". Not alot of 7s around, especially 3rd gens., so I hope I'd still be welcome. Any Loess Hills drives planned in the future?
RXhusker 08-04-2005, 10:17 AM OUCH -- my 8 took a hard hit yesterday :(
Going down 144th just south of Blondo -- a U-Haul truck flys by the other direction and out of the back a big piece of wood come flying out and hits my 8. Happened so fast -- if my arm had been out the window or it had been about 6 inches higher it would have gone right into my face. Put a nice dent/crease in my driver's door about 6 inches down. Crap -- my baby has been perfect for 2 years and now she has to go to the hospital for some repairs

   That sucks, your car is so nice. At least it didnt damage your intercooler or take off that delicious MS spoiler.
Did u get the dude in the truck to pay for it? First thing I would have done would be to pop a "U" turn and follow the dude.

Man, I hope somethings gonna happen, I need my rotary engine fix. I just ordered RB Oil & AC cooler screens, the Ram Air duct for the revi, and a voodoo shift knob to go with my short shifter. Should all be here this week, joy!
midlife crisis 08-08-2005, 05:55 PM Are we still calling THAT football.
RXFORFUN 08-08-2005, 07:04 PM Sorry all, been VERY busy lately.
No, thank GOD, the silver 8 crashed on I-80 was not me.
RxHusker, I am soooo sorry to hear your baby got nailed. :( Glad to hear that you are okay.
I am going to plead lack of time and ignorance, what recalls are you talking about Hskr8??????
RXFORFUN 08-09-2005, 07:08 PM Thanks Hskr8, I had actually heard about the thermal sheeting, but have not heard about a reflash or the front suspension. I do occasionally hear a high tune ping when going over bumbs coming from both front wheels, more predominately on the drivers side of course because of proximity, I think.
Sooooo, have you heard if the reflash is going to get us back to our reported initial 250 hp. :D
staticlag 08-22-2005, 07:37 PM I tried to get the recall work today, but I dont think they reflashed me!
Does anyone in omaha have the sCanalyser?
RXhusker 08-22-2005, 08:55 PM I have an AutoEnginuity scanner/analyzer.
Have you guys received a recall letter -- I haven't gotten anything yet
RXFORFUN 08-23-2005, 11:08 AM No recall info here either.
staticlag 08-23-2005, 08:14 PM I have an AutoEnginuity scanner/analyzer.

I didn't get a recall letter, but I decided to just have it done before this next school semester starts.
Will that read on the rx8? Could I borrow it for an hour or so?
RXhusker 08-23-2005, 10:35 PM Would I have it if it couldn't read the RX-8 :p
I even have the bluetooth version for wireless connect to my laptop.
You are free to borrow it -- what are you trying to read/analyze/reset?
staticlag 08-23-2005, 10:59 PM Would I have it if it couldn't read the RX-8 :p

True!
I'm trying to tell if the dealership really flashed me to the latest flash for their recall action. I'm feeling really skeptical that they did, because the car really doesn't feel different and I don't really feel like idleing my car at high rpms, again,.... just to test if im on the R flash or not.
When I last talked to my service guy, he didn't even acknowledge the existance of "flashes" he just kept talking about how there never was an R flash. So I remain very skeptical that they did the work.
What is a good time for you? All I need is to read my PCM flash version #.
RXhusker 08-23-2005, 11:58 PM Let me check and see if it actually reads a PCM version # -- I have never looked. This week is pretty bad -- my son has to have some minor surgery on Friday :(
RXFORFUN 08-25-2005, 11:03 AM Hope all goes well with your sons surgery.
RXhusker 08-27-2005, 11:44 PM Thanks! Everything went great -- the new Children's Hospital is incredible.
I should get the dents from the truck incident removed this week and hopefully the Interceptor-X will arrive next week :D
staticlag 08-28-2005, 12:11 AM nice!
RXFORFUN 08-30-2005, 08:26 AM ITS A GIRL!!!!!!!!!
Baby and Mom are doing well.
Jeff, glad to here everything went well on your end. Take care.
RXhusker 08-30-2005, 10:01 AM Congratulations! That is wonderful news!!
RXFORFUN 09-06-2005, 01:28 PM Hey guys, just got recall notices for both the stearing bar and the thermal sheild. FYI.
RXhusker 09-06-2005, 01:44 PM Yes - I got mine on Saturday as well. Now to decide where I want to take her in for service.
staticlag 09-07-2005, 11:52 AM Ever figure out if your scanner reads flash version?
intakedrotary 09-09-2005, 12:25 AM Anyone up for a meet up? Just got the 8 back and haven't been around awhile, working. Let me know what works for people, hopefully we can get a big a meet up. Anyone know when midamerica has a day that i'd be able to test out my new toys on my 8?
RXFORFUN 09-16-2005, 07:21 PM Hey all. Just got my 8 back from update and recall fix. Things went very well, and had no problems dealing with Woodhouse. Must say I have never had any problems with them either.
I could always use a lunch break, if anybody wants to do a get together. Can always do Pepperjax!!! Name a time that will work.....
RXhusker 09-17-2005, 09:46 PM RXHusker... is there anything special about the usb cable for the canzoomer kit? I just got a new laptop (Toshiba Qosmio) and am ready to start tuning...
Thanks in advance,
Hskr8
I don't believe it is a standard USB on the emanage side -- custom fitment so they can sell a $1.50 cable for $150 :( You can borrow mine if you want.
RXhusker 09-18-2005, 10:53 PM Crap.. figures they would do that.... I might have to take you up on that, and apprecieate the help, but I'll want to try to figure out some other alternatives first... Noone wants to lean on others, so I'll see what I can do. How has that Greddy Turbo been treating you? last I saw, you had some super cool new rims and a hiccup accident wise due to some other driver... at any rate, I hope it all turned out ok...
thanks again...
Hskr8
I love the new rims -- dent was repaired flawlessly :)
Waiting for my Interceptor-X to arrive this week :) :)
RXFORFUN 10-31-2005, 10:35 AM Hey Hskr8, Been a while since I've had a chance to check the forum. Hope all is well. I know RxHusker and I both have a set of winter tires and rims from the tire rack. I believe we both have the winter sport m3, at least that is what I have and will be putting on here in the next few weeks. They did a great job for me last year and I did not notice any significant tire wear which I found to be a major problem on the Blizzaks.
Let me know if you need more info.
Happy Halloween to all. :)
g1hopper 12-27-2005, 03:32 PM I just wanted to say Hi. I am a new RX-8 owner and new to this site. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.
midlife crisis 12-27-2005, 04:32 PM Congrats. What color, etc.? Unfortunately I'm the only one I know of on this forum from Lincoln
g1hopper 12-28-2005, 10:39 AM Gray exterior, red and black leather interior, GT package, GPS system included. I purchased it new but it is a 2004. Has about 2100 mile on it at time of purchase. I kept my 4x4 truck for bad weather so I won’t be getting all-season or winter tire, at least not for now.
midlife, is that yours in the pic?
Hsker8, I will need to make sure I catch one of the get-togethers.
g1hopper 12-28-2005, 03:41 PM Oops, I need to correct myself ... Mine is silver.
midlife crisis 12-28-2005, 03:51 PM midlife, is that yours in the pic?
Yep :)
g1hopper 12-28-2005, 04:53 PM I normal tell people that I made a New Year Resolution about four years ago and it is the only one I have managed to keep. That was not to make another Resolution. :)
I think the only things I am really go to try and do different is get off my butt and try working out more and do a little better job of keeping clutter out of my place.
Currently I play volleyball and bike in the spring and summer, but need to do more in the winter months.
RXFORFUN 12-31-2005, 09:35 AM Hello all and a big welcome to g1hopper.
Has been a long while since I've been to the site, wow have things slowed down. Hope everybody has had a happy holiday season so far. I'll be looking foreward to a gathering come spring. Welcome back to Omaha hskr8!!!
g1hopper 01-01-2006, 04:56 PM Happy new years!!
I had my 8 out last night but kept the drinking down and made sure I parked next to friends and curbs. :)
Stretchman 01-02-2006, 06:27 PM Congrats. What color, etc.? Unfortunately I'm the only one I know of on this forum from Lincoln
Now you know of 2 forum members from Lincoln...
RXhusker 01-04-2006, 09:40 AM We definitely need a Spring meet and greet :)
Your right Hskr8 -- I have been down in Arizona :)
In the process of putting on a new fuel pump -- the stock wore out (22k) and couldn't handle the demands of the turbo.
How does 290whp and 242ft/lbs sound :)
Also just put in a new clutch and flywheel -- again couldn't handle the turbo power.
I also got another new toy with a 9k redline :)
100th Anniversary Harley V-Rod brand spankin new just waiting for the Spring thaw :) -- matches my Ti 8 perfectly
staticlag 01-04-2006, 04:02 PM Nice!
RXhusker 01-05-2006, 03:48 PM SR Motorsports clutch and fly.
RXhusker 01-07-2006, 11:24 AM Yeah -- I decided to replace them this winter and when Jason took out the old clutch it was a MESS -- suprised it was even functional the shape it was in. The new clutch definitely feels different and the light fly really changes how she revs. The new clutch only has a few miles on it but seems to be loosening up a little -- definitely engages much quicker -- need to relearn shifting technique a little :Eyecrazy:
staticlag 01-07-2006, 06:07 PM Damn, I was all set for the ACT prolite, then I had to go and blow my money on a gun :( ....
Now I'm wishing otherwise...
rotaryrepair 01-08-2006, 10:45 AM Hiya, I'm from Omaha
If you are looking for a clutch/flywheel install (and your clutch is fried) I can drive to you, and install in your driveway.
RXhusker 01-18-2006, 11:54 AM Update:
Well it wasn't the fuel pump after all -- traced the problem to the high flow/high temp cat (Random Tech). It was totally melted to slag and had clogged the exhaust. Made the car go very lean -- at least report that way from the rear O2 sensor on the dyno. Had a new midpipe installed and now going to the dyno again this week to finish the custom map for the InterceptorX. Also having a new intake fabricated -- getting rid of the crappy GReddy Airnix foam thing.
RXhusker 01-20-2006, 04:01 PM I doubt the numbers will change too much -- we already tuned once and then had the problem (melted cat). Just need to finish the tuning so it is perfect on the top end. Going back on Tues.
I put in a K&N cone filter set-up and had a new box fabricated so it isn't just sitting in the open engine area. Would have liked to use something like the REVi but it won't fit with the turbo.
The GReddy should be good to approx. 300 -- not sure how much more I think I would need -- it is tough keeping 300 safely on the ground :) I figure this blower won't last forever so I will think upgrade later if desired. I really like the other aspects of the GReddy -- really fast spool up -- no need to relocate items in the engine compartment, etc.
woodysjh 01-24-2006, 04:10 PM Guys, I may be selling/trading in my 8....
It took 4 months of research, telling myself it was ok to buy the car, and then the experience of ownership and the emotional attachment I have with the car, and it feels like this may take a similar if not more amount of time to do this....
I have listened to my practical side... fiscal responsibility... to not have 20+ grand tied up in a depreciating asset, but so far I haven't been able to do it.
I don't know if I can trade her...
I've haggled with dealers already, and as soon as thier game starts, I walk.. and have done it 6+ times already.
I don't really want to sell... but most 8 owners are also financially responsible people as well, and understand what that entails...
There is a deep rooted part of me that want's to keep this car for a very long time, and yet, I feel like I'm selling out if I do make the trade.
The next owner won't take nearly the care of her that I have...
I did sell my pickup, and I guess I'm just spewing stuff out there...
On the non-emotional side, it is just a car.. it doesn't help me start a business with that money tied up in it... but I also feel I have done well enough in my life to deserve this car, and appreciate it.
Hopefully this is making some sense to everyone, and if you have any positive feedback, I'd be more than willing to hear it.
Thanks in advance,
Hskr8
Are you thinking of selling any parts off your car?
RXhusker 01-24-2006, 07:17 PM Woody -- 79 posts and this is your first time on the NE/IA/Omaha sub-board -- a belated welcome .....
Hskr8 -- you have already depreciated the asset .... a friend of mine sold his 350Z last year to "fund" a business -- every time I see him he says it was the dumbest thing he has done -- bought a cheap Hyundi to feel like he was sacrificing for the business but in reality he really didn't save anything to speak of in the transaction and now he hates every drive he takes :( Having known you awhile now I know that whatever decision you make I am sure it will be with much deliberation and soul-searching :)
Well I thought the getting rid of the melted cat would save me from replacing the fuel pump -- but alas the pump is still insufficient -- going to do a little double testing tonight and likely have to put in a higher capacity pump this week.
woodysjh 01-31-2006, 05:23 PM RXhusker - I have been on for a while, but stay mosty in the DIY section and discussion.
I think that I have seen your car in the bottom parking garage out west on Dodge. I am a consultant for MSI, so I don't go to the office much. Last summer I worked out of the office for a couple of months and parked east of the building. Don't know if you have seen my car there or not.
RXhusker 02-01-2006, 09:29 AM That's me -- my office is on the 2nd floor right next to where MSI moved their HR Dept. I saw your car a lot last summer out my office window -- kept wondering who else in the building had an 8.
Xantium 07-26-2006, 06:48 PM Hmm.... looks like I missed the party. I've got an eight in Sioux falls now, anyone trying to get rid of some parts locally?
RotorBalls 07-29-2006, 06:24 PM just checking in since I haven't posted in ages. What's up everyone :D
staticlag 07-30-2006, 12:43 AM Not much.
flaresniper 07-30-2006, 01:17 AM new guy here in omaha. built many rotarys but this is my first rx8 :D. check new members post in this forum.
staticlag 07-30-2006, 02:18 AM Anyone up for a get together? We could have a group lunch or dinner somewhere and then drive around.
rotarygod 07-30-2006, 02:46 AM Well I just got back from a week in Des Moines. I was in Omaha this last Monday.
flaresniper 07-30-2006, 07:41 AM im down.
rotarygod eh?? i got a turboII thats giving me a hellva time if you care to try.
rotarygod 07-30-2006, 08:28 PM I live in Houston. I was only visiting.
flaresniper 07-30-2006, 09:05 PM booooooooooooooooo
Xantium 07-30-2006, 11:27 PM Flare, is there a road course in omaha?
rotarygod 07-31-2006, 10:15 AM I heard there was a track on the southside near Offutt but I can't confirm this.
staticlag 07-31-2006, 03:53 PM Not in omaha, but the closest is Mid America Motorplex http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/2006/default.asp
They have a 1/8 mile drag and a road course, you need to be "orientated" to drive the road course.
staticlag 07-31-2006, 03:57 PM I live in Houston. I was only visiting.
I drove the 8 to Houston the first week of June to stay with some family. Got a chance to visit Galveston beach.
Gas is really expensive in the city!
flaresniper 07-31-2006, 07:12 PM lol. yea, the nearest roadcourse is MAM. its not too shabby.
Xantium 07-31-2006, 07:26 PM Aww I knew about that but was hoping there was another. Oh well.
staticlag 08-01-2006, 06:29 AM How does Sunday August 20th 3pm work for everyone?
Meet at Zorinsky Lake drive and photo/video shoot, then a trip to buffalo wild wings for some eats and drinks.

RXhusker 08-14-2007, 09:50 PM Haven't checked-in for a long time but I saw a real nice red 8 tonight at the 20Grand movie theatre -- parked right next to me :) Wondering if it was anyone on the board .... nice rims and exhaust :ylsuper:
Can't believe it was 4 years ago (August 1st) that I had my 8 delivered (4 years and 28k miles but she has been a great "toy" to play with) I had the pleasure of pre-ordering online and then sealing the deal in person at the Jan '03 Detroit auto show when the 8 was officially rolled out :) -- see avatar for a shot before she was taken off the truck.
Had all the warranty updates done before it expired at Woodhouse -- car actually drives noticably better -- even with my IntX and turbo it made a nice difference. A/C works much better too for some reason...
Haven't done much to her in awhile -- just fine tuning the IntX. I need to put on new brake kit really bad -- that is my next project. I have been thinking about upgrading my turbo to Scott's (MazSport) new set-up but haven't pulled the trigger yet. The GReddy is running very well with the IntX tuning -- just miss going all the way to 9k as I don't push the GReddy past ~7k. I should sell the GReddy to someone who wants an inexpensive turbo set-up and make the switch this winter...
I will try and check back to see if there is a meet & greet set-up sometime -- sorry for being a stranger lately :spank:
3DZukini 08-15-2007, 09:44 AM Hey 3DZukini---Im in Cedar Falls, about 45min north of you
Hey, cool! I haven't seen too many in C.R. yet. Parked by one yesterday at Lindale Mall and I see a nice silver occasionally but I've only had mine a few days...I'm sure I'll really start to notice them now. I need to hit up the dealer and make sure everything's up to date under warranty. Is there a thread on here for new owners that shows all the little things to look for and fix and the best starter/simple mods? Thanks for any help guys, I'll get pics up soon:)
Fencig 08-15-2007, 10:05 AM Welcome 3DZukini,
There isn't really a single thread for that sort of info. However you can find some good starter information in the following places
http://www.rx8club.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9 = basic FAQ area (should read)
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=101998 = DIY listing
http://www.rx8club.com/forumdisplay.php?f=95 = common issues/fixes area
Happy reading and Happy modding!
3DZukini 08-15-2007, 02:38 PM Thanks for the info Fencig! Kinda scary, makes it seem like the RX-8's have all kinds of problems. I hope I got a good one:)
RXhusker: Let me know if you ever come through Cedar Rapids, that's one sweet little TiGray!!
Fencig 08-15-2007, 03:25 PM I guess calling it "common issues" would give the impression that everyone has them. Sorry about the mis-wording. That's really just a common area to discuss issues people are seeing. It often gives the impression the 8 is falling apart but then again, those of us that are not having issues are not posting "still no problems" threads :)
RXhusker 08-15-2007, 03:44 PM Fencig - do the Foglight mod DIY first -- very simple and easy and so much better being able to have your foglights on all the time without the headlights. I replaced the foglight bulbs too -- looks very nice :)
When you are ready to have a little more fun with modding -- put on a new exhaust :ylsuper:
Nightkat 08-16-2007, 02:09 AM ^^^ Yeah it's a lot of fun and I got my RB about 2 weeks ago and I love it but it wasn't loud enough for me so I have my RB midpipe coming in tom. which im excited about. The only problem is shit is expensive for us. My exhaust has cost me $950 so far but then again my car is one of my big priorities. Def a wonderful car to have a lot of fun with and catch people off guard and turning heads. Congrats on the new purchase and I can almost personally say you will love the new car, until you fill the tank...lol
3DZukini 08-16-2007, 08:34 AM LOL, yeah...I've noticed so far that it seems to be using more gas than they claim: 18/24. I have a Ford Escape V6 that claims the same mileage-it always goes on the low side around 20 or less. But, WHO CARES! :) it's too much fun to drive fast:)
RXhusker 08-16-2007, 11:06 AM Thought I would post a few "old-timer" Husker RX-8 club pics for the new guys ;)

p.s. == don't ask me about those FOOSE wheels -- they were put on local wheel dealer that asked me to enter my car in WOW with those wheels :puke:
3DZukini 08-16-2007, 05:03 PM Man, I love the MazdaSpeed body parts.....wish they weren't so damn pricey. Any of you guys put in an ipod integration thing? Wondering whether to order the factory or if one of the aftermarket ones is better. $135 from dealer. It's only listed for '07 but they say it should work on the '04. I can't find anything that says if the song titles are displayed on the info panel. I spent $50 on car washing stuff last night, lol. Shhh, don't tell my wife :naughty: :D:
RXhusker 08-16-2007, 09:00 PM I have found the two best music system upgrades for the 8 -- they are a Borla exhaust and a blow-off valve :Eyecrazy: I hardly ever turn that stereo thingy on -- ruins the sound of the car :lol2:
Nightkat 08-17-2007, 04:01 AM Yeah I can understand that last statement. Its 4 am now and I just got done messing around town with the midpipe.....it took a lot longer then I thought it would to put on. At first I really didn't like the sound that it gave me but it quickly grew on me. Esp when I had my buddy drive it around the block and saw that backfire potential. Could be the ricer in me but damn i love spewing flames at shift points!
WoodsOfGreenRx8 08-17-2007, 04:02 AM Ha.. Once I installed mine I did the same thing. Time to get it tuned & stopped running so rich!
RXhusker 08-17-2007, 09:25 AM Did you guys ever start up your 8 with the mid-pipe off??? WOW -- it will literally blow out the windows in your house -- just at idle you might hurt an eardrum. I've read stories of RX-7's without exhause blowing out other car's windows.
When I first put on my borla, midpipe and hi-flwo cat it really was just on the edge of being too loud for me -- so I tried using dynamat -- installed under the entire trunk section and it worked pretty well.
Now that the turbo is installed (no cat) the exhaust sound is close to perfect for me -- great sound without being overbearing or ricer-ish. Those flames are FUN the first few times aren't they :Eyecrazy:

NOTE for 2004-2005 Mazda RX-8: The factory headunit's firmware revision must be 9.55 or greater. The unit will not work on earlier firmware revisions or with 9.81 or 10.01. To find out which revision your Mazda RX-8 has, make sure the radio (FM) is turned on, then press and hold "TEXT." Then, also press and hold "1" at the same time for a few more seconds. The LCD should then report your firmware version.
3DZukini 08-17-2007, 09:08 PM Thanks for the tip Staticlag! I'll check that later. Do you know if it displays the song titles from the ipod on the info panel? Not really important but I thought I'd find the best option to put on my car, factory or not.
RXhusker: I hope I get to see your car someday, sounds awesome!

I'm not sure if it displays songs, I know you can control the IPOD from your steering wheel controls though.
Nightkat 08-20-2007, 03:08 AM Static I'm dissapointed that i didn't see you at the last auto-x. It was a good time. A rough track but none the less it was still a good time!
remixlp 09-02-2007, 02:24 AM 3dzukini, just joined the forums. I am from Cedar Rapids as well. hit me up:lol2:
3DZukini 09-04-2007, 08:21 AM Hi Remix, I passed a red 8 yesterday afternoon on Wilson Ave., were you over on that side of town? I work on the NE side and I see the same blue one on my lunch sometimes. Welcome to the club...not sure if I qualify to give out the welcome....I haven't been here too long :)
remixlp 09-05-2007, 12:33 AM Im mostly just passing through c.r since i work and live in marion. It may have been me. I think i may have the only tinted red eight in c.r.
I did see a tricked out white eight, with some hot chick driving it.
Jaguar_MBA 09-11-2007, 04:56 PM Hi folks, I moved to West Des Moines from Raleigh NC. Just wanted to drop everybody a hello. Ping me when there is a club meet or something going on in Omaha or IA. - Scott

Only 8s i notice in town appear to be stock but none the less there are a few around town ... glad to have a fellow neighbor of sorts.
3DZukini 09-12-2007, 08:18 AM Welcome from Cedar Rapids, couple hours away:) Z and I are still on the hunt for more 8-owners in Cedar Rapids, if you're out there....speak up! :wavey:
Fencig 09-16-2007, 11:16 PM Welcome to the forum Jaguar. I'm about 90mins (or less if you drive a bit "spirited") north of you. If you happen upon a group of 8's that get together in your area please let us know. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I'd be happy to take a bit of a road trip to visit some other enthusiasts. I'm not a modder but I like seeing what others have done :)
