I skydived last August. I may jump again one day too.

I went the first time on January 2nd (they weren't open on the 1st). I'm going again next month.

6 times here. 4 more and I can do Solo licensed and only pay a small $15 flight cost. It's not that big of a deal as some might think... only the first 1-2 seconds do you feel that.."Roller coaster stomach jolt" feeling, and after that, freefall. After a few jumps, you learn to control your body better, and the ride down is much more fun.

I forgot to pull the rip cord on my first dive. That's one of the reason's why I'm not looking forward to ever going solo.

I think you should have seperated the poll.. with the "Will do it one day/done it"... it's going to give you a false idea of who has gone skydiving... not the same thing. Most people I know tell me they would love to go on the next jump with me, but everytime I invite them, they chickenshit out of it. (Though the idea of skydiving is more scary than actually jumping out of the plane freefalling... I'm sure you would agree Jerky)

How about having a local So Cal meet and skydive? :) I need 4 more like I said, then I can jump in any other state solo...

That sounds cool to me, I've been wanting to do it for ages.

I am going to do it eventually, but I don't have much disposable income at the moment

Well this poll had more of a moral aspect going to it but I guess this was made useless by the results.

I underestimated the amount of members on here who weren't afraid to skydive. When I created this poll (as you may notice by the poll options), I figured most would be petrified of doing something like this.

Based on the current results, there's an overwhelming amount that are not afraid to jump at all (either that, or a shitload of liars) which is not what I was expecting. That's why I didn't separate "will do it one day/done it" because this poll was designed to see what it would take to get those who would never jump to jump.

Nice to know I'm not the only person on here with complete disregard for their life. :D

Did it about 5 years ago - afterward, I drove the 60 miles home with a sh*t-eatin' grin on my face. Absolutely the biggest thrill I have ever experienced.

My brother (http://www.hingemedia.com/chris/mnpg/index.php?act=viewAlbum&albumid=11&view=images) (click link for pics) and I jumped together. He got me a christmas present and we both jumped on 2nd of January. Travis had a camera and I didn't :( But I'm taking my new camera on my next jump.

It's funny what you said about the $h!t eating grin... we both had one. For days afterwards (he was staying with us for the holidays) we would look at each other with a big grin and know that we were bothing thinking about our jump. I can't wait to get my wife healthy (still suffering from a back injury), and get her to jump with me on my second time.

***Edit, if you do check out the pics: each pic loads a seperate window, if you scroll down in that window there's a little commentary. you may have to turn off pop-up blocking temporarily to view the pics, sorry.

i jumped about 5 years ago. one of the greatest experiences in my life. its funny, i was nervous all the way up till i put the jump suit on. then after that all the butterflies went away and i was just excited. The entire flight up, I sat looking out the windows and then looking at the altimeter to see how high we were, then back out the window.

the only "scary" part was the 1 step to the edge of the door and looking down 15k feet. but that only lasted a second because it was rock, rock, roll out. free fall didn't last long enough, and i was kinda disappointed that i didn't get the roller-coaster-stomach-in-throat-feeling...i kinda like that feeling. also, i was expecting the opening of the chute to be more jarring, but it wasn't.

the flight down after the chute opened was incredibly serene. it was really quiet in contrast from the wind rushing right before.

i definately want to go again sometime.

I'm doing it on July 14th in Eloy, Arizona while I'm out there house hunting (in Phoenix).
Should be fun.

I went once. Did a tandem jump (it was cheaper). I had just finished my college exams and it was the week before graduation. Bunch of friends were just hangin out talking about all the stuff we want to do in life, especially stuff that if we didn't do now, we would never do. Skydiving came up. Next thing you know, six of us were signed up for a tandem jump! In retrospect, it probably wasn't the wisest decision right before graduation and with family coming. Would I do it again? You bet! Incredible experience. Best legal high you can get! My adrenaline high lasted a week!
