I'm a long time reader, short time poster.

I just found out the salesguy I was dealing with found another job. The guy taking over his deals called me (first call I got from the dealership). He told me my car is scheduled to be built in Oct. and delivered in Dec.:(

The car I ordered was a Red, GT, 6MT, w/Moonroof.
But he's telling me, if colour isn't that big an issue to me, that I can choose a few colour options and he would try and swap with another dealer so I could get it sooner.

I would appreciate any comments, opinions.

When did you order it? October build date seems late to me, but what the hell do I know?

What advice can anyone give you, though? Ask him what other colors he can get for you.

Let me say this about that...ultimately, it's your car (not like I need to tell you that...). It depends on how important this car is to you. One early January morning, I was hunched over my laptop building my RX-8. I really wanted red, but it seemed so unsensible! I was asking my wife which color I should get (drug her out of bed to help me decide). She could tell that I wanted red, but was afraid to say the words...I'M GETTING REEEEDDDDDD!!!! She looked at me said, "Honey. This is your dream car. You've waited 4 years for this. Order it exactly how you want it." "I'm getting the red," I said matter-of-factly.

Now, it may be different for you. Maybe you just decided that within your budget this was the car you liked the best. So, cool. And maybe it doesn't have to perfect for you (perfect meaning exactly to your choosing). Maybe you'd rather have any 6MT RX-8 sooner rather than later.

first let me say this about that b-nez;) i seem to remember you me and herc on the forum in the wee dark hours of the morning waiting and waiting for the pre-order system to go live:) it was i think 1:17 am when you posted that it was up. but that was west coast time, did you stay up the whole night? and i have had that same conversation with my wife several times when i was having doubts about the dealership, wondering if i should go somewhere else and just take one in a different color or specs. my wife has said the same thing over and over " you have been waiting 3 years for this car get it the way you want! don't accept anything less."

now pauleta go to the lounge and find the info leak thread. it should be near the top as i posted in it a little while ago. use the hack posted there by Rx-nut to find your dealers inventory and the inventory of the other dealers in your area. you might find that the one you want is actually in your dealers inventory and this person was just mistaken. or maybe you will find one at another dealer close by. if not talk to the manager(in person mind you) or owner of the dealership and tell them to get on the phone to the mazda rep and find your car. it's what i had to do in the end and they found a car in my specs that was headed for dealer training and diverted it to me. good luck, get the car you want and accept no substitutes!!
