View Full Version : I dont think we're getting the car today. (07/08/03)

I have this feeling that Mazda will send out an official email the day before delivery. I doubt the cars will just show up at dealers without notice. Anybody else think this is viable?

No, I don't think it is. I don't think Mazda will have the time or people-power in place to update and send the emails when the trucks leave and / or before they arrive at dealers. I don't expect the email until after the car arrives (much like the other emails we've gotten to date). I keep checking daily though just in case.

Not at all. You could get lucky but my feeling is that the information chain is kind of broken in most places.

All I know is that it is RISIBLE that we cannot get any information from MNAO regarding the release. I mean SOMEBODY has to know when they are to be released from port.

**I realize that they may have already been released but as far as I know, we have no confirmation.**

okay, last desperate gamble. if i say it won't come today, and really believe it won't come today, then maybe it will because i'm believing it won't. nah, never works.

I'm starting to think they're never coming. I think my car will have been at the Midlothian port 14 days tomorrow (7/9). It's still unbelievable that this is supposed to be a huge roll out for one of the most anticipated cars ever, and Mazda nor anyone else can/will tell us when the cars are gonna show up at the dealer. Mazda must be operating by the skin of their teeth. I heard on Autoweek this past weekend that Mazda sold out of the 2003 model Mazda6 5 speed version. Whatever the reason, it seems odd that Mazda won't say, to even the dealers, when the car's gonna show up. At this point, I wish I wanted some other car as much... I'd be headed out to buy it. But I don't, so I won't... yet.

i feel your pain, my car only arrived in CA on 27 Jun, i can't imagine how frustrated the guys on the first ship (17 Jun) must be. come on Mazda, you can do it! (this is starting to remind me of birthing class)

I have this feeling Mazda will send out an e-mail after delivery telling me my car is finally on the truck departing the PORT. i will already have the vehicle and have been driving it for several days. i will also get a reminder to watch fear factor, or whatever that show was that awarded some 8's and to make sure i don't miss the new x-men movie coming to a theater near you.

According to my dealer he was on a conference call and Mazda stated that they were releasing them from port this week. Whether that means beginning, middle or end of week he had no clue just that they were releasing them this week.

I talked to Mazda and they said they are releasing the RX8 sometime this year; they do not know if it will be early, middle or late this year. :)

Dude, I'm not bitching, I'm just stating that I got the vibe that the car wasn't gonna be here today. It sucks knowning that your car is just sitting on a lot baking when you haven't had a car in three months. I don't think that we'll get the car this week either. My moneys on next week. Regardless, Mazda has till my People First check expires (August 8th). If they haven't coughed up a car by then I might start looking at the alternatives.

Actually I think we all need to remember they said they would release them from Port this week, not deliver them to buyers this week. I'll bet they get authorized for release sometime late friday, then they don't even leave until Monday. We might see a truck some time next wednesday. Might as well kick back and relax. Find some beer and drown your sorrows. We're not seeing 'em until next week.

I, for one, am hoping that the subsequent boatloads don't go through near the bottleneck that the first ones did. It'd be nice to allow my 1st-alloc/2nd-boater car to close the gap a bit, so I'm not left hanging for too long, drooling over someone else's car that was ordered 2 months ago. Know what Ah mean, Vern? :p

Maybe these cars really don't exsist and they are leaking information (like IBFUBAR, budaman, etc) warrenty vin check, the website inventory hack check, the whole web site thing, the concept cars, pre-prod, production cars, etc.

DAMN THE RICH AND THEIR SICK SENSE OF HUMOR......... just get to the damn punch line and let us off the hook

Checked inventory status this morning and still nothing being released to the transport company. On a good note, another ship has docked at Port Hueneme.

Not as much delay when it gets to this point. The releasing to the transport co. is done at the regional level. If they would have released them last night, it would show on my report this morning. But. I've seen stranger things happen! I would love to see a transport pull up today with a couple of blue RX's

wow... had no idea there were so many Austinites here... I'm one too... My salesman told me they'd be at the north store (where I ordered mine) sometime between 11 and 3 on Thursday. I preordered right at the beginning (Jan 12th or so), and am getting a little tired of the wait (I too was told to expect it mid-May to mid-June)... and I've already sold my previous car, so I'm carless right now....

I'm curious Meat - how has your experience been with North?

meat
07-09-2003, 02:39 PM
Well, the sales guy has been pretty good about keeping in touch with me - although the guy who actually sold me the car left, the guy who took his place has been pretty decent about it and has been contacting me weekly. Like I said, the message of mid-may to mid-june has been the constant message, and because of the status that I was being told about, I felt a sale of my car was appropriate (and, honestly, North didn't give me a good offer on it as a trade in at all... presumably because there isn't really a lot to negotiate, since I've already agreed to a price on the car...)

Overall, I haven't had any problems with them, and the salesman has been good at keeping in touch with me. I used to drive a Honda, so I haven't dealt with them except for my 8 order....

Boozehound
07-09-2003, 02:53 PM
Yeah, I inquired about trade-in value for another vehicle, hoping that they'd at least be reasonable, and they "ballparked" about $1000 - $1500 on a vehicle that KBB has at around $5300. So I guess I'll end up selling it outright - but come on, they shot 2Gs below wholesale.

If your sales guy calls once a week, you're doing great. Mine doesn't call me unless I call him, and I get walked to the door everytime I drop by to talk to him. You'd think he didn't have time to talk to someone buying Mazda's nicest car with the fattest margin. I swear if I had another option... BAM! ZOOM! STRAIGHT TO THE MOON!

Another great experience - I asked about financing through MazdaUSA and he took down my info and went and piddled around the computer in the back and came back to me and said that the machine was running slow, but my salary was good, my credit was good, but I hadn't been working with my company very long so I should expect a quote of around 18% !!!!!!!!! I said, "WTF!?!" and told him I was already locked in with my credit union at 4.75% and I was just exploring my options. I swear, that's not just poor business, that's insulting. My sales guy is a self assured ass who probably can't fathom that I've considered walking for about a month now. For 35K can't I BUY some service? And this is all on top of wholesale ignorance of pricing (he told me last weekend that he had no idea what prices were on the accessories) and the car (status and features) in general.

I am carless in Dallas, having sold my '99 10 A.E. Therefore, i am a little more needy for my new car. Would you mind checking to see if mine made it as far as midlothian yet? That would at least chop off a few days of trnsit. I thank you.

Of course! They can't be released, they're still being inspected by the crack Mazda hand inspection team. (which is made up of one over tasked, under paid engineer who's racking up the frequent flyer miles);) It has to be the same guy for all cars otherwise the standards might change. Oh and he's union so he can only inspect 8 cars a day, and he gets travel days off, and . . .
