I just got my 8 back from the dealer. They had the rear door painted because of a scratch that was there when I bought it. They said to wait a month before I wax it but I don't want to wait that long before I Zaino the car. Can I do the door or should I waite?

Thanks
Bob

I had the same thing happen to my front door, they told me the same thing. I am not a body and paint guy so I have no clue as to the scientific details beyond the simple explanation of giving the time for the paint to dry and breathe. I just took their advice and waited. Makes no sense to cause problems. Any auto-body guy's around that can chime in and give us the science behind having to wait so long?

wait about a month. The paint is still fresh and needs time to cure. Patience is a virtue.

On an old car I had the bumper painted I talked to Sal Zaino about it and he said to wait a week before Zainoing the car since my paint was baked on. Zaino doesn't have any silicone in it which is what will make the paint fisheye on you, so after a week I would Zaino that thing and make it look the way it should.

I had the same experience, both with the scratch on delivery and with the response from Sal Zaino about waiting a week. That was a year-and-a-half ago, and things still look pretty good (knock on wood).
