Would you buy the RX-8 GT at $38,000.. (before tax, docs, accesories, or anything else, 38K being the actual price for the car....)

Or would you wait, full well knowing the cars wont be "on the lot" until summer of 2004.

The way I look at it is there have been more people talking about high markups the closer we get to the launch day.. If you were a dealer wouldnt you do the same?

no...that's far too much money on this car...i think, for me at least, i'd be better off getting a top-of-the-line G35 for that amount

EXACTLY.. that's my thoughts as well...

No, it would have to have greater performance for that price and more amenities. I would expect it have the 6 disc changer and nav standard with a higher performance brake package and come with a higher grade of tires and wheels. That is the price range that I would set as the target for the Mazdaspeed version with at least 285 hp to match the 350Z and be able to smoke it on the track. But as it is, no way would I pay 38G's

Actually, a fully loaded GT with everything plus tax will probably come close to this number. So . . . if I was getting a fully loaded GT with every option known to man and paying tax, I might pay this. If this is prior to tax, delivery, and all the add-on options, there's no way in hell I'd pay 38K.

Yea, I mean prior to tax and docs stuff.. just the pure price of a GT car, no added accessories...

It's a reality.. dealers seem adamant about this price too.. and they ARE people paying it.. I'm just not one of them..

sad isnt it..

well, that was my vote, but it was a conditional yes and based on additional information given, i'd change it to NO now as well. It'd only be worth it if it included everything + tax + delivery. Otherwise, NO WAY IN HELL.

Even if that included the Nav, then that's almost $5000 over MSRP. No way - walk away.

Not just "no", not just "hell, no", but "hell, &#%@ no!" At $28K (pre-everything) the 8 is a serious contender. Add $10K to that price without adding anything of substance and you have an over-priced dud.

Hallelujah!

Moderators, can you edit the poll to put Edge's vote in the NO? Heheh..

You tell us. You started the post. Is that what the dealerships in Hawaii are charging?

Seems like it.. my latest dealer survey shows this to be a common price.

If the offer was last february... YES! I'd would show it off and make my neighbors jealous. That's if it was last February when not alot of people ever heard about the rx-8, and especially to the ricers... their jaw would've drop.

Hell no I would either get a mint FD or buy an STI.
