View Full Version : Cars are here!
twocycler 07-07-2003, 11:42 AM My dealer just called me (Georgia). My RX8 has not shown up yet, but he told me that he just got two cars in this morning if I wanted to come and look at them. There should be ALOT of happy people today...

RotorBoy 07-07-2003, 11:53 AM Where in GA are you?
twocycler 07-07-2003, 11:55 AM I'm in Gainesville. They just called me from Marietta to tell me that they had two RX8s arrive this morning.
Rocky
Sweeet! Are either of these cars pre-orders or are they dealer inventory?
twocycler 07-07-2003, 12:01 PM I believe they were both pre-orders.
Rocky
SWEET! I know what I'm doing after work today. Taking a drive by Jim Ellis in Marietta to see if I can get a peek at them. Hopefully I can at least look at them since I know I won't be able to test drive them since they're pre-orders.
RotoRooter 07-07-2003, 12:41 PM These appear to be the first three 8's due in to Jim Ellis Marietta on their first allocation pre-order, mine is the first on their 2nd allocation. This is great news. I believe I know the owner of the Red one they have there . . . maybe the winner of the first to post forum.
tripwire 07-07-2003, 01:13 PM I hope mine is on that truck, and I hope the next stop is Rick Case Mazda! My dealer told me this morning that the status of my RX-8 was still showing at-port :( Hope they are wrong.
Those cars in GA would obviously be from port Jax correct?
pmacwill 07-07-2003, 03:58 PM someone get over there with a digicam already!
Just called Hennessy Mazda in Morrow. My car is not there yet, but they said there is still time this afternoon for delivery. They are still expecting them later this week.
Also called Jim Ellis in Marietta. The sales man said two they received today are demos and one was a pre-order.
yellowgslse 07-07-2003, 04:18 PM The cars should be gone by now. I was there and saw them as they were about to head to the "Mazda Training Center". This was around 1:45pm The cars were not pre-orders, but vehicles for the techs to learn on and get used to. One was a red 6speed with cloth, the other was a silver automatic with leather sunroof and NAV. They looked GREAT by the way!!! My sales person at the Jim Ellis in Chamblee said they should be getting a truck load of them today(Monday) or tomorrow, ONE of which is to be used as a demo for us to test drive.
TJRX8 07-07-2003, 07:09 PM Just heard they are expecting mine tomorrow or Wed. depending on truck route.
RotoRooter 07-07-2003, 09:06 PM Went over to Jim Ellis 90 seconds too late . . . they just took off for the "training center." I am curious for those who saw the car, what the NAVI looked like. Any details would be great. BTW, aren't those guys great? So far, I am very happy I ordered through them.
Ah, ok that would explain why they weren't there when I stopped by after work. Though I didn't talk to a salesman either. I wanted to look first, talk later.
JE of Marietta is the most convenient Mazda dealer to me. Those of you who have preordered, or purchased other cars from them before, how would you rate them on customer service? I bought a Passat from JE Volkswagen several years ago and was really dissatisfied with the sales team there. So I'm a bit gun shy about buying an RX from the Mazda dealer. Any comments?

I find that unlikely. Let us know.

I bought a New Beetle from Jim Ellis. and had a pleasant experience. No issues here.
RotorBoy 07-08-2003, 02:12 PM OK. Just got off the phone with my salesman. He said that I SHOULD get the car this week. It is still at port but the rumor is that they might already be loaded on the trucks. He explained that the reason they were held at port was to run diagnostic test on them to verify gas mileage on the window sticker and emissions information etc. was correct.
Take it with a grain of salt. I hope he is right but it seems like EVERYONE is working based on rumors right now.
Derek 07-08-2003, 05:56 PM I spoke with Rick Case Mazda in Gwinnett on Saturday (7/5) and he told me they have 32 RX-8s coming (9 are already alloted) and they will be there on July 15th.
tripwire 07-08-2003, 06:17 PM Just spoke with Rick Case Mazda (6/8), they expect that the cars are being held to work out all of the logistics of delivery. They feel that if the dealers don't get their cars at around the same time, it will cause a disturbance in the Force.
I asked her to get in touch with the District Manager for the South East - she did - he said that they should be arriving any day this week.
She also told me they were expecting 2 or 3 this week, one in August and only a few more thereafter until the supply chain picks up.
I've ponied up all of my documentation for the purchase, ID, insurance card, blank cheque, registration, license plate and 6 CDs.... not long now....
Derek 07-08-2003, 06:38 PM So I guess that salesman lied to me. You know, I bought my 1994 RX-7 from them and they were terrible. It was a used car and I negotiated in the purchase price that they would put in a new clutch (I knew how expensive they were to replace and didn't want to to be doing that any time soon). They had my car for two days and told me they put the clutch in and handed me paperwork to that fact. About one year later that clutch was starting to slip. I had by that time had enough with their service department and had started to go to MazCare in Marietta. When MazCare put the new clutch in, they told me that I had the original clutch in the car! Oh well. I guess they haven't changed their business practices over the last 6 years.
SPDFRK 07-08-2003, 07:28 PM Talked to my the Sales Manager at my dealer and he said his first cars have been released as of yesterday to the trucking co. so they should be here within the next two days!!
RotoRooter 07-08-2003, 08:21 PM It seems cars have recently been released to the trucks . . . for sure from JAX port, since I have been calling dealers from Tampa to Atlanta -- all say the same thing, trucks are loaded, and ready to roll tonight or tomorrow. Expect at least some first allocation cars by the week's end.

and this is why you always ask for the old part back, no matter what it is.
Derek 07-09-2003, 06:06 PM That is good advice Farsyde. Hell, I never even thought about doing that. I will from now on!
