Enjoy momo 05-13-2005, 07:16 AM Cool. Is that Subbie used as a battling ram? Looks like some kind of mutation occured. Daemonicus 05-13-2005, 07:47 AM Thats just obscene, but who cares? it's not a Mazda ;) chrism 05-13-2005, 07:55 AM ewww Spin9k 05-13-2005, 08:08 AM Eeeek! A subi with terminal skin CANCER! or is it baracle-subi-crab-eyes? Wurmfist 05-13-2005, 08:12 AM I don't think there are enough headlights... Zorro 05-13-2005, 09:03 AM i just threw up again khtm 05-13-2005, 09:54 AM I don't get what the problem is? In rally racing, cars always have like 100 headlights... Rhawb 05-13-2005, 09:58 AM Problem is, that may be the ugliest damn headlight pod I've ever seen (and headlight pods ain't pretty). Even those big arched ones that mount in the middle of the grill look better than that setup. Ajax 05-13-2005, 10:00 AM i dont even know what to say about this.. it's just.. wrong.. Intrigue 8 05-13-2005, 10:00 AM ^ then i guess u havent seen a lot of wrc cars th1rd3y3 05-13-2005, 10:55 AM ^ then i guess u havent seen a lot of wrc cars Agreed. There are *gasp* racing events that those lights are useful and even needed. Now if that's a daily driven car, it's a different story. If you've never seen a WRC event I'd advise you do some research before you just blindly bash cars in sheer ignorance. Ajax 05-13-2005, 11:03 AM ^ then i guess u havent seen a lot of wrc cars I've never seen any w/lights that looked THAT stupid. Intrigue 8 05-13-2005, 11:37 AM ^ they get crazier than that but its needed when wrc racing at night. juikster 05-13-2005, 12:31 PM Now if that car had 8 long legs it would pass as a killer mother black widow. ;) Ellar 05-13-2005, 12:49 PM Guess Subaru is experimenting with layering on the ugly. It's like a tootsie roll pop of ugly. ::lick:: ::lick:: "CRUNCH!...Ewwww. Mommy, there's an STi in the middle..." Rhawb 05-13-2005, 01:22 PM I've seen plenty of rally cars in general, not just WRC cars, and I maintain that that is the ugliest variant of a headlight pod that I've ever seen. Headlight pods are capable of being quite hideous, but this one is the mack-daddy of ugly. rotten42 05-13-2005, 01:50 PM I really got to wonder how a person suddenly goes...."shit man, I'm going to stick some big ugly headlights on top of my other lights. That will look so cool!". WTF? Zorro 05-13-2005, 01:51 PM Rhawb - Couldnt agree more! Seen many a WRC, and many a hideous headlight pod, i just think this model looks hideous.. *HIDEOUS* zoom44 05-13-2005, 01:55 PM I really got to wonder how a person suddenly goes...."shit man, I'm going to stick some big ugly headlights on top of my other lights. That will look so cool!". WTF? its not done to look cool. its done so that they can see where they are going at night. its used in racing cars like that. ugly doesn't matter. Ive seen races where they use them. and remember in racing if it wasn't useful it wouldn't be there. it would be gone to save weight. now if that is someones daily driver and they never race it at night than its completely overboard :D Gambit 05-13-2005, 02:06 PM So is that Ike's car? Ellar 05-13-2005, 02:10 PM It's functional in that you may not see the deer with the lights, but that's because they're all hiding behind trees with their front hooves over their eyes. zoom44 05-13-2005, 02:13 PM now thats damn funny!!!!!:):) i actually LOL and nearly woke up my sonHEHEHHEE Razpewton 05-13-2005, 02:39 PM To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind a setup like that. Not on the 8, but as an equalizer 2nd car. Some of the four-wheelin rednecks around here have those 200,000 candle-power halogen headlights with the 150,000 candle-power fog lights. Give me a billion candle-power rig like that, let bubba pass me on the highway, then WHAM-O! arc-weld his ears to the back of his head. :D :D :D mikeb 05-13-2005, 02:52 PM kinda a overkill rodrigo67 05-13-2005, 04:07 PM Now, just how bad IS this owners night vision? Spin9k 05-13-2005, 05:06 PM its not doen to look cool. its done so that they can see where they are going at night. its used in racing cars like that. ugly doesnt matter. ive seen races where they use them. and remember in racing if it wasnt useful it wouldnt be there. it would be gone to save weight. now if that is someoens daily driver and they never race it at night than its completly overboard :DNow big ugly lights are one thing... THEY at least look functional...ugly-functional, but functional. You gata respect that I guess.....but this Horny-crab is STYLED into the hood, CUSTOM painted to match the ahh 'car' underneath and cost a damn sight more than a pretty penny over JUST lights for a seein dawn da road. There simply is no excuse for this ... I nominate this insect for the "Ugliest Car of the New Millenium" and think it has a high percentage probability to actually WIN :D  army_rx8 05-13-2005, 05:14 PM To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind a setup like that. Ellar 05-13-2005, 05:36 PM Aw...Ike doesn't get what's funny about this. LOL Ellar 05-13-2005, 05:47 PM Y'all need to look for pictures of Porsches when they raced the 911's and 959's in the Paris to Dakar rallye and the series that became the current WRC. They had a 4 light setup that fit between the headlights that was very similar. It didn't look nearly as hideous when it was attached to a proper sportscar. ;) Ike 05-13-2005, 06:44 PM It looked much worse IMO if it's the one I'm thinking of... These look familiar? mikeb 05-13-2005, 06:54 PM functional but all ugly truemagellen 05-13-2005, 07:08 PM take one stock ugly-ass car, add 200 headlights, throw in 100lbs of fiberglass, and you get a Fugly ass car that need's its battery charged after 15 mins of driving truemagellen 05-13-2005, 07:10 PM oh I forgot to add...beatin with Ike's personal ugly stick ;) :p TheColonel 05-13-2005, 07:20 PM I would like to point out that no one in the picture seems to care to actually look in the general direction of that car... J/k... don't flame, I know why those lights are there. Rally racing is awesome. I love watching them do it in the snow. It's crazy. I can't believe they don't all die. TxRx8 05-13-2005, 07:26 PM I think it's cool. My subby buddies would go nuts for shit like that. :) BigOLundh 05-13-2005, 07:27 PM ^ then i guess u havent seen a lot of wrc cars Thats interesting because i can not remember the last time i saw this car in the WRC series. I must be an idiot or something. Ike 05-13-2005, 07:35 PM Thats interesting because i can not remember the last time i saw this car in the WRC series. I must be an idiot or something. It's a both car for PIAA, they make the lights... If you look at any rallyx or Prorally across the country about half the cars are Subarus so it makes sense to use one to display their rally light pod. As for your last comment the jury is still out :p Intrigue 8 05-19-2005, 11:23 AM some more pods and i dont mean mp3 players rx8wannahave 05-19-2005, 12:12 PM Dang...that was nasty, I understand they might needs lights but for the sake of looks...be creative man...IN A GOOD LOOKING WAY....nasty... BigOLundh 05-20-2005, 06:09 PM It's a both car for PIAA, they make the lights... If you look at any rallyx or Prorally across the country about half the cars are Subarus so it makes sense to use one to display their rally light pod. As for your last comment the jury is still out :p Yes I understand PIAA is heavily involved in rally racing, and I have more respect for WRC then probably any other racing series... but intrigue 8 was trying to insult another board member by stating this car is in WRC, which it is not. But his point was that rally racers use them and they get what functions best, not what looks the best... A lot of RX-8 owners seem to have a problem with the concept of function over form :D 1975yellowBSPz 06-21-2006, 11:09 AM One of the limitations of conventional centermount light pods is that it blocks the flow of air to a top mount intercooler, WRX's can't even run a "leBra" due to the redirection of airflow. I wonder if this is what PIAA was trying to solve for. I do however agree that it is not a very attractive solution, but hey if it works they more power to them. Maybe it will allow privateer teams to run less expensive top mounts more affectively with aux lighting. On the topic of Function vs. Form, I love my WRX, but it will never be as pleasing on the eye as an RX-8. Thats apples and oranges. Can't we all just get along? RotaryRider36 06-21-2006, 11:16 AM Holy resurection of threads batman. lazi 06-21-2006, 12:16 PM hahaha a rally eh? rotarygod 06-21-2006, 12:36 PM One of the limitations of conventional centermount light pods is that it blocks the flow of air to a top mount intercooler, WRX's can't even run a "leBra" due to the redirection of airflow.
