I like ifubar's excuse/theory in another thread that Mazda was ready to ship them Friday, 7/4, but it was a holiday, so they couldn't. So I'm counting on Mazda to really pull through (and make up for my car sitting at the port so long) by trucking those 8s out first thing Monday morning! So they'll be here by the afternoon Monday, or by the latest Tuesday! What the heck... I can dream can't I?

Really though... my loan check expires Friday. So come on Mazda... at least get them here by Thursday! Or else I'm gonna have to takle off from work Friday to sign for overnighting a new check.

I'm just down the road from you in Spurs land, so I really wish you'd be right about next week. However, my guess would be between July 13th and 15th. Either way, it's so close I can already smell the leather!

Uh that theory was part of a pretty non-serious thread in the lounge. If you want to speculate on why we won't be getting them yet or any time soon, I recommend taking a look at our conspiracy theories (http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6064). Trying to keep all the negative vibes there instead of here.

I think first pre-orders might conceivably get them by next weekend, but I'd look for the end of the summer sale really.

I wonder if RXORDERS has a handle on the delivery dates? They told me the ETA was the 4th week of July, and I pre-ordered in the second batch on 2/18. I didn't think it would come until August or maybe September, so my expections are low.

Can anyone tell me what they know about the arrival of the first batch for the midwest area? (Minnesota) I have been told by my salseperson that I am number 3 on the list and the car should be in the first batch. Also I have never recieved any of the GIFTS that others have been talking about on the forum. I should mention that I have recieved a couple of e-mails from Mazda about vin# and build date. At times this pre order thing seems a bit confusing, but I know when I finally get to sit in my 8 for the first time it will all be worth the stress and sleepless nights!

The dealer told me the third week of July. Hmmm...are they gonna pull a sneak attack and call me later this week, like many here seem to think?

My guess is Friday - July 11, ready for the weekend car shopping. They also could hold it off till the following Monday - July 14. That's close to mid-month, where they were projecting it all along.

Wouldn't it be IRONIC because of Eastern Standard Time if the first to get the 8 is an East Coaster.... I mean after they have been sitting in CA and WA for what seems like a month. Either way the end of waiting is near for alot of people!

I just called my dealer and even though they seem to be mobilizing on the East Coast (I'm in NY about 45 mins. North of NYC), they are still telling me they don't know when, but they're sure it'll be by the end of the month.

What the heck? You'd think they be able to give more specifics if they are indeed shipping them out of port already.

Oh well... it would be great if they came this week, but if I don't get any kind of notice, there will probably be a delay for me to get my bank check as well as making sure the insurance policy changes to cover it.

lol. sorry car still not here yet. im waiting by the phone though, perhaps the NICE person from mazda will call me today and tell me which day this week the car will be released. it sure would be nice to get a phone call again. would be even better to see the truckloads of rx8 drive in. that would be great!! but i have not seen any staus changes yet, but i dont think i will until after the cars get to the dealers. i dont think they update the system until about 24 hours or so after the car is there.

Semantics. I still believe some dealers will have a demo displayed.

Cases could be ones that are not a pre-order, dealer's pre-orders, or using someone's preorder as in the case of TJRX8.

I'm sure there are many cases that the dealer's placed there "own" pre-orders" to have a vehicle that they can display.

People may still be able to see the car, and order it.

another thing i have noticed is that we (the dealer) still have not received any info on the pdi for the rx8. i would think we would receive a bulletin or something telling us about the pdi. so that is a little discouraging. i sure wish i would get a phone call:D :D :D

Argh.. I dunno about you dudes. but I'm feeling down right now.. wasted a would have been awesome 3 day weekend (no car).. no calls this morning from dealer.. more clues that the RX-8's price here will be stupid enough for me not to buy..

well they did say this week, they did not specify which day and it is only monday. just wait until friday if the cars arent here by then, im sure there will be lots of pissed/depressed people.....

pre-delivery inspection. All dealers do it to all cars. Basically a check to make sure the car is sound and ready for sale.

well of course they have to make sure it runs ok. and also EVERY tech in the shop has to test drive it/ as well as every manager and every lot kid. as well as every employee has to climb intio it....:D :D
seriosly though. most dealers will not let anyone else drive a sold car except for the techs, and most techs will not race it. im more worried about the truck drivers putting them on and off the trucks doing body damage to the cars that have the appearance package added on....

On a good note, the 2 RX's that are cruizin the country are in Houston and supposed to be up here in the next few days. maybe I'll get to drive one then.

We don't need no stinkin PDIs. Mazda held up delivery so they could do all that extensive inspections.

budaman-Would you be able to pull up my vin to see the status(it's in my sig)? I'm curious to know if it made it here to Midlothian or if it is still showing "at port."

Add tpryor to the "go nuts" list! And, as eccles mentioned, is there ANY other dealer than Mazda South?

I live in Houston (150 miles away), and still ordered mine through them (on eccles suggestion) - have not regretted it once!

Now, if it would just get here................
