Just a note to remind us all that, not that anyone would need to remind us, Mazda UK currently have £1,000 from each of the pre-orderers, approximate number (1,000).

Therefore have around £1 million from end of Feb until delivery of mid October is 7.5 months

Can anyone tell us how much intetest they would get over that time, invested at standard interest rates.

Not a bad way to make some money ( for nothing)

BTW RX-8 is in next months (September 03) Top Gear Magazine.

Are you saying that Mazda owns all of the dealerships in the UK? Because that is the only way all those deposits could be put together in a bank. I would be surprised if it were any different than here in the states. The dealer is a franchise. Any deposits collected stay with the dealer. In fact, Mazda North American and RX8Orders have constantly told us it is up to the dealer's discretion on deposits including how much and whether they are refundable. The most they go out on a limb is to recommend the dealer not charge above list price. But if they do, they will not take any action.

Tinck,

a few of us have already hypothesised about this.

In total, somewhere in the region of 80k profit on the monies.

Still, could be worse, could have preordered a 350z! (Top Gear anyone!)

TreknMazda - we all paid Mazda UK, either via dealers or direct. The dealers are not involed at this point, in fact can be descibed as a source of zero information. We presently are dealing with Mazda UK, for our sins!
