The ONLY way to drive that little 106hp buzzbox was to goose it, then drop the clutch gently, keeping the revs in the buzzer range!
Use the clutch as your 'torque convertor'!. Bills to prove!
My clutch never lasted long, but the V8's never saw it coming - went like sh*t-off-a-shiny-shovel!

When I was a teenager I used to rebuild RX-2, RX-3, RX-4 and Cosmo rotaries for people. One little ad in the paper brought in quite a few jobs. :)

1986 RX7 :)

I was 18 when I got my first RX-7, it was a 79 . My next 7 was an 81, and the last one was an 84. Now that I'm and old married man with two kids I feel that the RX-8 will be perfect for me and in three years a total hoot for my son to learn to drive.

Yep, first RX for me. Lusted after the FD but couldn't afford them then. :p

THIS MY FIRST OF MANY TO COME.

My first 2 cars were 1985 RX-7's.
My 3rd (and most recent car) was a Mitsubishi 3000GT.

'74 RX-3 wagon (as in glamour-shot avatar) Rusty and worn out beyond help when I bought it.
'79 RX-7 S. (SA) Basic, reliable, fun.
'86 RX-7 S. Too many issues, pieced together like Frankenstein, but the best handling car I've owned so far.
'85 RX-7 S. (FB) I currently own it, pretty, and reliable so far.
'04 RX-8 6-sp. Soon? Looking forward to carefully breaking-in and maintaining a rotary from new, not having to un-bogusize and repair everything.

This will be my first as well.

This will be my first car ever...i'll get it for my high school graduation next year which is kind of suck...i want the car now!!!

Nobody knows for sure but many are speculating that it will be another 2 or 3 years before you can get you mitts on that baby, best buy an RX-8 now and trade it for the Mazdaspeed when it becomes available. Just my 2 cents.

My first RX was an RX3 wagon, back in 1979

1973 RX-3 Coupe: My first introduction to the Rotary. Originally a 10A model, it had received a 12A transplant before I bought it. Kept it fairly stock for a while, but eventually bridgeported the 12A. Met its demise when I stuffed the front corner into a dirt bank at Morwell Hillclimb.

1975 RX-3 Coupe: After the first one bit the dust, I purchased a rolling chassis (with roll cage) and transferred all my running gear into it. Over the next several years, this car became like "grandpa's axe" - I replaced almost everything at some point, including the entire bodywork after my co-driver bent every single panel when she rolled it into a sand trap at Adelaide International Raceway. About the only major component that lasted the entire time was my factory competition LSD. Somewhere along the line the 12A-BP was replaced with a 13B-BP. This is the car in my avatar at left (pictured at the scene of the first car's demise).

1979 RX-7: As the RX-3 became more and more of a track car, I needed something a little more sedate for my daily commute. This was it.

1985 RX-7 GSL-SE: I sold both previous cars when I moved from Oz to the US. I picked up this one shortly after arriving here. This model was never seen Down-Under.

1999 Miata 10AE: The GSL-SE reached the point where it needed a considerable injection of funds and TLC, and I reached the point where I no longer felt the need to be rooting around under a car every weekend, so I traded the -7 on a Miata - my first non-rotary since 1978. This was to become the first BLU TOY.

2004 RX-8 Winning Blue Sport Package: With the announcement of the RX-8, I decided it was time to return to the rotary fold. Sold the 10AE back in March (so I wouldn't be forced to accept a lame trade-in figure) and started driving a shitbox Explorer until the -8 arrives. The sooner it does, and I can park this 4WD POS, the better! :)

Hopefully this will be my 2nd...

I once owned an 84 RX-7 GSL.. Loved that thing.. argh.

First RX car for me. I had a rotary razor once. :D

Anyway, I have a feeling there will be more to come - once I get that rotary feeling into my bloodstream.

I'm paying for the RX-8 100% in cash. From day one, I'll be saving for either a future replacement Mazdaspeed RX-8 or the new RX-7 to be a sibling to the RX-8.

my brother's been racing rx's for a long time now, started with rx-3, that's him in my avatar.

It's my first RX, but a friend of mine in highschool had a RX-7 that we had a lot of fun in :rock: . It's also my first Mazda and 4th car.

2nd RX, I owned a 1974 RX4 coupe

2nd Rx, My first and current project is a 93 r1 rx7. I do drive the 8 more now since I found out the 7 started smoking last month and has a wierd gas smell. :(

1st for me... :)

2nd car, first RX.. but it definitely won't be my last. :)
