well yes I don't agree with the steiner tactics but he is free to do what makes him feel good. I posted this because it is a funny thread. I looked at it when someone brought it up in another thread but now it's really moving.

I find it funny that during the whole entire thread nobody mentions the ms6. Like I said it is entertaining and since we are the topic of that thread, I felt we should all enjoy it too. :)

I'm surprised how many of the guys over there that claim to be enthusaists lack the ability to wrap their brain around the concept of wanting to own a car that handles well, even if the car lacks straight line power. I have no interest in drag racing and on the rare occasion I do get out to race, it's autocross, which favors handling over straight line speed. Also, on the street, I find it much more entertaining to drive a car that handles well rather than one that pulls hard in a straight line. On top of all that, when I'm not blasting around (which is probably at least 80% of my time behind the wheel) the car is comfortable, practical and classy.

Reading and posting in that thread reminds me why I never signed up for that site before... I think in the 30 or minutes I spent on that site today reading and posting I saw more people called a faggot that I have the past few years. There are some very cool SRT-4 owners out there that appreciate cars of all types, but a lot of them have left SRTforums and have adopted other sites like ClubWRX as their home. They also have their fare share of fanbois, but they're clearly not the only car site that does ;)

funny thing was, when i bought my car, I had one of my friends tell me that i was stupid and should buy an SRT-4 like him because it was faster. Honestly, if I wanted faster than the 8, I would never have bought an SRT-4. I would've bought a vette. The 8 is a compromise and that's what I wanted. It's a compromise between performance, handling and luxury and that's why it appeals to so many different groups.

Just like the topgear review, it's as if the car was designed by a committee.

Everyone knows that Goku would just boost up to SS4 and take over. The Jedi's are soo slow compared to the Saiyans and they have to depend on mind tricks to win a fight. I actually like the SRT 4 as far as performance standards. I have not had the chance to drive one full out but I've seen them tearing up the pavement. I just wanted to get a car that was fast and would also be considered by the wife. This car was better for us than the other four door sports coupes and fit in our price range. No regrets here.

Actually, a reality check..

Any car that does a 0-60 in under 7.5 is fast.

Any car that does it in 5.5 or under is special.

Any car that does it in 4.5 or under is elite.

Fact is, none of this matters to 99% of us for 99.9% of our driving needs. Only time 0-60 matters on the street is merging with traffic. End of story.

If you bought a 4 door that does not say evo or wrx on it for autocrosss..well, you are silly. :p

The fact that the 8 is competative at all at such events speaks volumes for the car.

Fact is, for the cash, the neon is a lot of car. It is not the 8. Remove the 0-60 from the equation...well, it is a bitch on a daily basis I bet. The same can be said for the evo or the sti.

The point is a combination of things, of which stright line performance is just one factor.

With enough money, you can make a trash truck go fast...that does not mean I want one. The sad fact is, that America has developed a culture were how many useless carbon fiber parts you put on your car actually =more self estime for a certian segment of the population. I noted the "panty" comments with some amusement. Face it, if you need a car to get laid..well, a neon is not going to do it, and if it does, you are heading toward a nice case of crablice.

I hope they all realize that if we wanted a bare-bones, blown Neon, all of us "inferior" 8 owners could afford them. We purposely didn't buy an SRT-4 (or something faster) because we don't prioritize straight line speed. Very few of us think this is a drag-worthy car, so I don't see why they keep beating the "my car r teh fastar in teh quatrer mielz!!11!" argument into the ground. We 8 owners typically bought the car because it's damn fun to drive, practical, nice and reasonably quick, not because it can get to the next stoplight the fastest.

Blame my college education, but I really don't understand the difficulty they're having with processing this.

I bought the 8 because I enjoy catching shit from every other car owner out there. :p

On the MMORPG I just started on, there is no level caps, (except that the skills only go 1 - 5 and are increased by the amount of time you train on them.. not kills, etc)

So on the forums ALOT of people complain about how they are starting out and they will never be able to "catch up" to the people who've been playing for a year or more...

They ignore the other facets of the game and focus soley upon being top dog in the shortest amount of time possible.

Well, their car might be faster. But we have a better crash and rollover rating. Which is something they could really use in a faster car. I'll take a slightly slower car that I'm more likely to survive in :D

I posted that thread over there because a few members on this forum were having trouble dealing with the projected performance stats of the soon-to-be-released Mazdaspeed 6. It was pathetic and juvenile and deserved an audience. I haven't been here for long but I'm not a troll. People in the general car forum will agree with that. I also didn't know that thread in the SRT forums would blow up like that but it's been interesting. It's become clear that there are plenty of RX-8 owners who carry themselves with the same "holier than thou" attitude that the SRT-4 guys do when comparing straightline performance. Despite what a lot of you are posting, their comments seem to be getting under your skin and you're reacting with equal or greater immaturity than many of the worst SRT-4 owners over there. I'm glad I posted it. No matter what you claim, many of your egos are wrapped around your cars every bit as much as the younger SRT-4 owners on that forum.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on almost every point.

First off, people being upset that the MS6 has higher horsepower than the RX8 does not make them pathetic or juvenile. They have every right to their opinion and every right to make assumptions from what mazda has told them. Generally speaking, assumptions are not always correct which is why I've made none about the car. I'll drive it before I make any decisions.

As far as reacting with equal or greater immaturity goes, i don't see too many people going to nearly the lengths of those people on the SRT4 forum. Furthermore, no one went to the immature lengths that you did by starting up aflame fest on a totally unrelated forum. It's funny. You went over to the SRT4 forum to talk about how the RX8 owners are upset about the stats of the MS6. Why?! Because nobody on this forum would see things your way? And then, you come back over here and play both sides of the fence, saying that the people who just bought your line have a holier than thou attitude similar to our own.
