Question Am I being suckered?

Ok..I'm about to buy an RX8 and I live in New Brunswick. I'm buying a GS..don't care about a moonroof - the weather simply doesn't warrant it and leather isn't a big selling feature for me (unless I'm physically wearing it ) Given this, the dealer has to get the car from Quebec or Ontario..there are NO GS's in Atlantic Canada. I have the Red Book in my hands and have compared the avg. wholesale to what peple online have said the dealers invoice price is for a GT. ...its off by $100. If I use this comparison, theres about $3700 between wholesale and retail on the GS. I made a point of telling them I had the redbook and the sales manager says " how about we split the difference and gives me $1500 off... hmmm - not sure about his math but thats not splitting the difference
......to make a long story short... they'll give me 1500 off the MSRP and "they" will pay to have it shipped from Quebec. The salesman said I was robbing them blind..they were only making $760 on the deal less 150 for his commission. There was no possible way they could do this any cheaper...yada yada yada.....the usually salesman crap. I said lets do the math here 3700 less 1500 less maybe 400 to ship..thats $1800 they are making. NO NO NO he say..." I saw the book and we're only making $760 on this deal....If I owned the business I would never do this kind of deal" If I give them a $500 down payment before end of day - the deal is mine...... I left..said I would think about it and call him[/FONT]

Those salespeople are a slimy bunch. They more than likely have some angle on the deal. Still 1500 off of msrp sounds sort of good.

They usually call a day or so later to see if they can entice you with a better deal. Maybe you'll get a call before the weekend.

PS Will they be driving this out of province car to NB? I'd make sure that some yahoo wasn't going to be doing the driving.

I doubt someone will drive it. They get put on a truck or on rails when arriving to their destination. Mine came from BC to Ontario on a train, then they trucked it over to the dealership. Was also a GS.

RX8 for Smiling Beaver

I am tempted to sell mine. It is kind of impractical for what I need it for. I'll even deliver it to Saint John for you!!

2004 Black GT with taupe leather. Currently just under 10,000kms. Just drove it to Toronto...awesome drive! Summer tires have just been put on before my trip. It does not have navigation but does have everything else. It had the 8000kms service done. I'll have to determine the price based on the lease buyout.
