Greetings

I have been a professional musician since the age of 13 in some form or other. Jazz Quartets playing bass was my favorite venue (Berklee alum). Today I produce in my DAW environment (digital audio workstation). Now working on a CD nearing completion and release - more commercial, not Jazz though.

Any other RX8 musician/ audio engineer types out their?

cool waht software are you using?

I've been a musician for over 30 years but just now starting to dable with recording in my basement....nothing major yet. I use my Line6 Guitar port for an interface and Cakewalk for recording software.

I have a buddy who owns a studio...he uses Pro-Tools.

I dabble a little on my comp...

I own:

Delta 66 with Omni I/O soundcard
Shure SM 57
Shure SM 58
Roland XP-10 for midi control
Reason 3.0
Adobe Audition
PRS CE Bolt 22 from mid nineties vintage sunburst top mahogoany body with a Bill Lawrence in the bridge
late 90's Martin SPD-16 special edition dread
Marshall DSL 100 1/2 stack with the non celestion speakers...
Huge assortment of stomp boxes and a few rackmount toys but I mostly add my effects in Audition... such a versatile wave editor....

I also have access to a 90's 8ft Yamaha concert grand in a REALLY live room... gotta love having musically inclined parents... The decay is just amazing in the entryway of the house.. Triple micing the piano is great... I put one above the soundboard, one about 15 feet away and then I'll run a long ass cable to the upstairs... mix em together and it makes for one great sounding piano... (the parents house is VERY wide open and mostly wood...)
I've played around with Ableton some as well and I used to have Reaktor but sold it cause I needed a few more bucks and Reason 3.0 gave me the flexibility to get some of the fat sounds that were previously only possible with Reaktor...

I really need to get some pro quality monitors and a real desk instead of my poorly rigged setup but I'm attempting to sell the truck and get an 8 at the moment and I'd like to be able to slap on the RB suspension and RP short shifter immediately after purchase...

Hey, you are in my territory!

We have a big audio/video studio in Rockville. I'm mostly Ensoniq Paris & Pro Tools. Just got a copy of Adobe's version of Cool Edit Pro.
Just added a stack of Alesis HD-24s. 32 chan Mackie with a 16 channel side car.
Stacks of effects, mics, etc.

We do mostly promotional video production for performers in the DC area.

Sorry for the delayed response, I forgot I posted this one.

So Jeff are you doing the Production for Wash Talent? - I used to play in wedding bands many moons ago. (I do most of my video post at Producers Video in Bmore)

So what are the rest of you working on musically? I'm in the final stages of production of a CD.

Yep. I handle all of the audio for the band promo videos.
I'm also in "Onyx", the main money-maker over there.
Same stuff, different gig.:p

I remember you guys! I've been doing this (with the same band, no less) since 1985. What is your name, if I might ask?

I've been a percussionist for 14 years. I've marched drums corps and toured with a group that was STOMPesque. One of my goals in life is to create something like you have, and I'm getting there.....very, very slowly. Both my father and brother share an interest in a recording studio which helps :) I dont have much recording hardware yet, but as far as instruments the list goes on. My pride and joy is my Pearl Master Studio Custom birch in midnight fade and black hardware. And if you're ever in south florida I'd LOVE to jam. I've been in a few jazz bands.
