Just received an RX-8 thermos and coffe mug along with a letter and Road & Track RX-8 Magazine in the mail this morning. I will post pics later, just curious if anyone else has received this or if you have received anything different.

...from your dealer or from Mazda?

from mazda...same type of packaging and letter as the book. They make refrence to the book, hoping I enjoyed it. It was from Mazda Custom Order HQ.

Jerzey: just curious... did you pre-order your 8 or take from the dealer allocation?

I haven't even received the book... I ordered from the dealer allocation but I've read on here that even some of those people have received their book. Now if everyone will be getting these.... grrrr!

I'll be checking my mailbox carefully for the next few days. :)

Pre-ordered on the 8th of Jan...got all the typical email updates, the book, and this latest gift (pictures are coming in a few minutes)...spoke to dealer last week and mine is in port and should be here in a week...they stated that they had 25 coming and only 4 were spoken for (via pre-orders).

Wow, you get your mail early...our usually comes at about 16:00. Sweet - I can't wait. No watch?

I got my mug and thermos in my morning mail. My car is from my dealer's allotment, which he ordered in Jan. (I put my deposit down in March). I did receive the book, too. I wish the mug and thermos were yellow so they'd match my car.

omegabob,i only ordered mine 6 weeks ago from dealer allocation and after i emailed rx8 orders i was in the preorder system and have received all my emails and my book and the car is on the water.i would try to email them and nicely ask em whas up.

My thermos and mug came in the mail today as well. I ordered from the dealer back in April. But I do get the impression that no matter where you ordered from, you were ordering from a dealer and thus the distinction being made between an Internet order or pre-order and ordering from a dealer is what is called a difference without a distinction.

The individual dealers as I understand it will only get a certain number of cars. The impression I got from my dealer is that a car ordered on the net is basicly the same as going to the dealer since the Mazda site states that once you order online you must go to the dealer to finish the deal. If a dealer has 10 cars coming to him and the 11th person comes in the door and wants a car he will have to get it from another dealer or that dealer would purchase the car from another dealer. I could be wrong but that is the way I understood it from where I am ordering. So far I think I am the only one who has ordered a car from the dealership here.

For those who have recieved thier thermos, someone said to me that it looks rather phallic, do any of you agree? :D :D :D :D

this is awesome, but why didn't the color coord. this thing will look great for anybody who got red.

it's been made pretty clear numerous times how to get into the pre-order program. go to your dealer and get your e-mail associated with the order. if they don't know how to do it, contact rx-8orders and have them either call the dealer and help them, or have the dealer call them and get help. cripes this should be in the FAQ. if you're not getting your stuff, stop complaining and fix it.

I emailed them last week stating that I was concerned that I haven't received a vin # yet and was wondering about the book - haven;t heard a thing from them.... now with this second batch of "gifts" and people getting TWO copies of the book... Bob is very sad :( .

I'll call my sales rep next week and kindly ask if he could look into it for me.

btw - when I was at the dealer on Thursday to check out the touring 8s, he showed me his latest inv report. Mine still had the order number and was listed as TBA with a date of 2/21. He was just as confused about it as I was.

Geez! Sorry! And I wasn't complaining, just stating that I hadn't received anything and I DID give my dealer my email addy when I placed my deposit plus (see my previous post), I emailed RX8orders and haven't gotten a response.

WOW! what a pleasant surprise...when i got the box this afternoon, however, my heart started racing as i thought it was a miniature replica model of my black RX-8! well, a mug and thermos is still a lot more useful but i can sit and stare at the replica until the real one comes...

Sorry for jumping down your throat. While your post didn't include any cursing, etc. we seem to have numerous posters who continue to spew here, but don't seem to be willing to take the actions that most others have to get themselves taken care of. Granted some dealers are not helping or seem to even be obstructing, but . . . the info is out there for how to fix it. I do think it should be in the FAQ.

Got mine. Very cool. Perfect when you have a cup or two left in the coffee pot and need to leave for work and hate pouring out that very expensive starbuck coffee...

i was wondering if anybody else thought it was odd that these things aren't color coordinated with the car on order? i mean it seems soooooooo obvious to me that color coordination was the right thing to do, would have made this gift so much cooler, etc.

it's a nice gift, it just could have been so much better with just a minor tweak. maybe Mazda needs a little fresh blood in the marketing department, or is that a result of Ford?

Maybe? But at least the European marketing department (if there is a separate one), seems to be doing a great job by releasing those RX-8 watches to all the pre-order customers.

I dont know about you......but asking the thermos manufacturer to "tweak" their manufacturing process and equipment for automotive paint....let alone 6 different colors for a small group of people (compared to all the products Timolino sells)....seems like alot to ask. I never expected any gifts when I first pre-ordered, I got a red thermos and cup, a very high quality collectors book, and a Road and Track magazine....and I'm grateful.


-I guess you could always take your thermos to your local body shop and ask for them to paint it so it matches your car......:p

Besides it does look closer to the interior red than the exterior velocity red mica.

Update:

I called my dealer this morning to complain about not receiving the book and now this second batch of "gifts." He called back and told me that although I was entered into their database, for some reason I wasn't entered into the internet database. By this I assume that he meant that they never sent my name & info off to Mazda.

Anyway, he said that my info will be sent to Mazda by close of business today. Woooo!

Question: do you guys think I will still receive the book, will I just receive the second gift or both?

My guess is that I prob won't get the book b/c of the time factor.... =(

OmegaBob,

You are a pre-order customer. You are entitled to ALL the gifts. Wait a week or so to see if you get any of the gifts. If you don't, then I would contact rx8orders@mazdausa.com. They NOW should have you in their database and should be able to mail the gifts out to you. Good luck!

Better yet. Contact rx8orders@mazdausa.com now. If what the dealer said is true, then your name should be there. Request that they send you the items that you missed out on because of the dealer's mix up.

The mailman delivered mine today. :) Almost compensates for not getting the actual car today. (Well, OK, not really, but it takes the edge off it.)

I've been battling with RX8orders since everyone else started getting their books. I have been told for over 6 weeks now that I will get one. Now there is another gift I'm not getting. Some people are even getting TWO books. The sad part is my order was never messed up, it was placed around Jan 12th with proper E-mail and home address etc.

Anyway...I will posting pics and driving my car when others are still gloating about getting gifts. ;) j/k

The same thing happened to me. Months ago, I wasn't getting any correspondance from Mazda sales. Found out my dealer, like yours did not have me entered into the internet sales database. As soon as that happened, he said to expect my RX-8 book. Week later, I got it. And my car is a dealer allotment and not a pre-order. I would expect the same results for you.

Yep, got mine yesterday. Schweet. I filled the thermos with some nice Columbian coffee this morning. Saving the mug for the RX-8. I have a velcro-on plastic cubholder for the center console of my Nissan, and it would probably scratch it up quickly. Although, if I had been using the RX-8 mug the other day when I elbowed the cup and holder right off the velcro, perhaps my wife wouldn't have had to spend the afternoon washing coffee stains from my kids' black/red booster seats. :D :D
