im sorry for this stupid question but im new to mazda and the rotray and i see this 'fd' all the time.can someone enlighten me what this is and if its what i think it is [rx7]what the hell does fd stand for?

the fd is tha 3rd gen rx7. It stands to tha Chassis code FD3S. The 2nd gen is Fc

and, of course, the rx8 is FE...note the vin # in my sig..

Welcome to the community! The whole point of the RX-8 is to expand the membership in the rotary community. When the success of the RX-8 is proven, then Mazda can start working on the "FF" (there is a whole thread on this debate) - the 4th Gen RX-7. BTW, FB is the 1st Gen RX-7 (79-85).

The early 1st gens were noted as SA's before converting over to FB VIN designations.
