I figured that instead of letting all the speculation get out of control, maybe we could focus it in one thread. So, post your most negative paranoid view of the RX-8 roll-out or anything else for that matter and we'll generate a sort of black hole of negativity. This way our more sensitive readers can avoid all our negativity, or at least stop bitching about it because the can always go read something else and are forewarned about this thread.

Here's my most recent paranoid thought: Mazda is holding back the launch of the RX-8s so that the dealers will focus on selling the 6 and Protege through the summer, then they'll get a big sales boost after the summer sales with the RX-8 intro. (Reference all the 0% stuff out right now)

Remember, just because you're paranoid does not mean that someone isn't out to get you.

Here's a few more myths to get it rolling:

- An overheating problem was detected in Japan and they can't fix it

- EPA won't release the cars because they really only get 16 MPG

- The cars actually haven't arrived because all the ships sank

They are held up because they are installing 6 disc cd players in all the cars.

It's one of those things, but only on yellow cars. All cars must wait until the yellow are ready.

my biggest concern is all this "hand testing" they're doing to all the cars before releasing:

1) why? aren't these tested in Japan before, during, and after they're made?

2) is it to fix something that couldn't be fixed during transit that they finally realized how to fix now?

3) are they washing their hands before they touch our cars?

Actually, all the cars are at the ports and since they are all close to racetracks, they have disconnected the odometers and all the port people are having mini roadraces and trying to get 10,000 rpm out if your cars!

All the pre orders are here but during the inpection they realized that instead of the Renesis, they all have Miata 1.8L 4-bangers. They are now awaiting a shipment of Renesis engines for port installation.

theres more truth to that epa theory than you think!that was one of the hold ups.

After the long voyage, some of the cars which have front licence plate brackets installed are found to be developing this problem. This is what the team from Japan is really working on...

Nothing is wrong with the cars... Mazda and their dealers are withholding them long enough to drive us mad and willing to pay any price for them.. Since Mazda hasnt had a real winner in a long time, they want this one to make the record books by psychologically turning their potential customers to mush.

cars failed epa tests and now all have to be reprogramed. and only 1 tech available to reprogram pcm on all the rx8's and mazda will not release them until that 1 tech does them all..... and he is on vacation!!

Heated seats are malfunctioning and overheating resulting in singed cojonas and sterility in some Japanese drivers.

They don't exist, they're all figments of our collective imagination. Actually I think this is going to be my default position from now on. Can you really prove they exist? All we've got is a couple e-mails, Mazda's assurance that they're coming and some video-tape that could have been easily faked.

It's all a sham there are no RX-8's. Mazda is just making interest on our deposits.

Cars arrive at all dealers midday Friday. Oh, I'm sorry we don't have enough time to complete detailing and dealer prep. We have no dealer prep on Saturday or Sunday. All dealer get to have at least one possibly multiple RX-8 on their lots throughout the weekend. It end up being a win-win for Mazda, free weekend of RX-8 demo's using already sold merchandise. Don't worry they will unplug the odometer before the rush of people Saturday morning. I just hope they are all bathed before they go sitting in my car. HaHa, I think.

Actually, Nissan have placed key employees in Mazda over the last 3 years and are now creating internal havoc with paperwork that is infinitely delaying the 8. Funny that the 350Z is already on sale.....

this may be more correct then you realize. if the cars get here anytime after 3:00 on friday it wont be until monday....

I believe that I have the real answer as to why there are no cars being delivered to the dealers, the cars are being shipped back to Japan for repairs. ;)

well they can reflash the ecu to change the hp rating, but they would have to tell us, othrwise tey will have the same problem they had with the 2000 miatas!

I apologize because I think I am the reason for the delay. They were not able to explain why my January 10 pre-order is not on one of the first boats, so they are holding all of them until mine gets here. Sorry.

Maybe the RX-8 is Mazda's attempt at one last screw job on the public before Chapter 13. Regardless, they've got a lot more work to do if they want to compete with Enron for top honors.
