View Full Version : Newbie, With Lots Of Questions
rotary_extreme 04-30-2005, 11:02 PM So, i just bought an rx-8 and i really cant wait for it to arrive since in my country there is none yet, I am from Guatemala in central america.
Since this is my first car,... and need I to say, my first rotary car, I really have bunch of Qs,
what should i know about the car?(I've already done some homework but still there might be somethings that only expirience can teach)
where can i find a good place to buy stuff for it?
what kind of mods do u suggest?
since im gonna need everything shipped are there any places u can tell me about?
Well Any Info, advice or what ever u can tell me is going to be extremely well received.
Thanks!
tiggerlee 04-30-2005, 11:07 PM Do yourself a big favor before you get flamed. Do a simple search in the appropriate forums for the info you're requesting. Much of it has already been discussed and re-discussed over and over and over........ Oh and welcome to the club!
tiggerlee 04-30-2005, 11:09 PM As far as mods and stuff for your 8 check out the Vendor Forums
Razz1 04-30-2005, 11:42 PM Yes, read the forum.
What Octane rating do you have down there?
Let us know how it performs on the gas down there.
Thanks
BlueFrenzy 04-30-2005, 11:53 PM I think he wants us to summarize the entire forum into one post!
If you want mods, try looking in the photogallery/multimedia area, exterior, interior and aftermarket areas for some ideas.
rotary_extreme 05-01-2005, 12:34 AM Thanks a lot, the current octane level here is 98, thanks a lot, im gonna start reading the everything u have previewsly posted, hope I understand everything, since there are some words u often use to describe certain things i dont understand yet, anyways Ill try asking u if I dont get something.
once again thanks for everything this is a great site...
Im really happy to be part of the club.
rotary_extreme 05-01-2005, 12:35 AM blue frenzy i would love to see a pic of ur 8
BlueFrenzy 05-01-2005, 04:35 PM ^^^ Really? There's nothing crazy special about my 8 other than my calipers (which I love). But if you insist.

Fanman 05-01-2005, 04:38 PM Damn, you get 98 octane down there ?!?! Is it just me or does California really suck that bad. The best we can get (without dropping $6/gallon) is 91 octane.
Morgan 05-01-2005, 05:03 PM we have 93..i'd LOVE to run 98!! how much does it cost for the 98?
rotary_extreme 05-02-2005, 12:17 AM well the dollar down here is USD$ 1.00 for Q.7.75(quetzales, the local currency) so u pay usd$2.97 a galon.
...
THE MORE I LEARN ABOUT THE 8 THE MORE I LOVE IT!!!!!

SAFD1450 05-02-2005, 06:54 AM Like everybody else said you may want to read some of the other posts before asking to many questions, but ill try to point you in a helpfull direction. Clear corners, strakes, and Richard Paul Short shifter. These seem to be the most popular things. There are many other choices so check out the specific sections of the forum for the topic or parts you are looking to improve on your car.

Nemesis8 05-02-2005, 09:50 PM what should i know about the car?
Break it in correctly, read it here (http://www.racingbeat.com/RX8%20Break%20in.htm). Warm it up before driving it hard, it uses oil to help seal the engine, so check your oil often, wash it often, wax it the same.
where can i find a good place to buy stuff for it?

what kind of mods do u suggest?
Keep it simple, always start with Handling First, Braking Second, and Performance Third. So maybe some upgraded sway bars, shock tower bars, springs, shocks, etc. It all depends on what you plan to use your car for. The RX8 looks great lowered with tinted windows. :p
since im gonna need everything shipped are there any places u can tell me about?
The Vendors Sections - Mazdaparts.com is a good place for forum members since we get discounts.
