a lot of the guys said they felt sorry for the guy. Might sound cold, but I'm not sorry for him. A lot of stupid, untrained drivers go 10/10th out on the track thinking that just because they can drive in the triple digits on the road, they think they're Juan Montolya.

Another thing is that, depending on when he crashed and when he renewed his insurance, he might not be covered. Insurance cos used to cover driving schools, but in this tough economy, they no longer cover anything on private roads. This occurred recently and, for the most part, across the board. Now you will need specific insurance for the track and it will be expensive.

I used to take my RX-7 to the track, but I think I will only be doing solo autocrosses or shifter cart racing from now on. If you can't afford to throw your car off a cliff, you can't afford to race with it.
