The Ark was Canadian Built, Eh?
The Lord came to Noah in Canada in the year 2003. Earth was wicked
and over-populated. The Lord instructed Noah to rebuild the Ark and
save two of every living thing along with a few good humans.
"Here's the blueprint," said the Lord. "Hurry - in six months I start the
rain for 40 days and 40 nights."

Six months later the rain came down.
The Lord looked down and saw Noah weeping in his flooded yard - and no Ark.
"Noah," He roared, "Where's my Ark?"
"Forgive me, Lord," begged Noah. "Things have changed. I needed a building
permit. I've been arguing with the inspector about the need for a sprinkler
system. My neighbours claim that I have violated the neighbourhood zoning
laws by starting to build the Ark in my yard and the height limitation is
being exceeded. We had to go to the OMB for a decision."

"Then Transport Canada, MTO and Hydro-One wanted a bond posted for the future costs of moving power, trolley and other overhead obstructions,to clear the passage for the Ark's move to the sea. I argued the sea would be coming to us, but they would hear nothing of this."

"Getting wood was another problem. There's a ban on cutting local trees in order to save the spotted owl. I tried to convince the environmentalists that I needed the wood to save the owls. No go!"

I gathered the animals, but then I got sued by an animal rights group. They insisted that I was confining wild animals against their will. As well, they argued the accommodation was too restrictive and it was cruel and inhumane to put so many animals in so confined a space."

"Environment Canada decided that I could not build the Ark without filing an environmental impact statement on your proposed flood."

I'm still trying to resolve a complaint with the Human Rights Commission on how many minorities I'm supposed to hire for my building crew."

"The trades union wants me to hire only union trades people with Ark building experience."
"To make matters worse, Canada Customs and Revenue Agency seized all my assets, claiming I'm trying to leave the country illegally as well as with endangered species."

"So, forgive me Lord, but it would take at least ten years to finish this Ark."

Suddenly the skies cleared and the sun began to shine. A rainbow stretched across the sky. Noah looked up in wonder.

"You mean you're not going to destroy the World?" he asked.
"No," said the Lord. "Your Government already has!"

p.s.- this was sent to me by a canuck freind of my dad. so don't go flaming me for it if you are offended.

Haha.. funny.. Good ironic example how over governed we've become..

...but all that governance prevents lunatics who hear voices in their head about 40 day floods, the end of the world and all that, from actually going ahead and building some huge friggin' yacht, without first ensuring equal labour rights, environmental protection where necessary, and locking up poor animals in said crazy man's yacht...

I was waiting for the happy ending where Chretien would have missed the boat and got left behind because he was attending some boondoggle in Prague... :(

(Off topic/joke, just why in hell did he need to be in Prague for the 2010 Winter Olympics announcement anyway?)

*shrug* so we could show a national effort, interest, with federal support??
well, we won anyways, for good or for awesome... i mean, worse.
... not that it matters: i'll probably start having kids when the Olympics finally gets here...

Oh yes, I was 8 years old when the olympics were in L.A. (and I lived there) and it was really cool. I highly suggest that you have kids ASAP so that they'll be old enough to appreciate the olympics being in town. ;)

Olympics just bring headaches and huge government spending.. Although the winter olympics might actually leave a usable legacy... like the training facilities, etc.

The Olympics in Calgary were a huge success, and left a tremendous legacy. We have regular World Cup speed skating events, bobsled/luge events, and more, and the training facilities mean that Calgary (for now! ;) ) is still home to quite a few of Canada's winter sport national teams. I attended a few of the events along with the opening ceremonies in 88, and wouldn't have missed it. As for kids - my son was born 3 weeks after the Calgary Olympics ended, so he missed them! ;) My daughter is 5 now, so she'll be 12 when the Vancouver Olympics are on - I think we may have to make the trek to attend! Anyone want to put us up for a few days?... ;) :D
