Welcome pack from Mazda

G'day Guy's

Just wondering how long you guys have to wait before you received your welcome pack through the mail.
After about 5 weeks of waiting and still waiting for the damn thing to arrive from Mazda. I decided to take a proactive approach by ring them up and complained about not receiving my welcome pack. I was told by Mazda that the damn thing was never dispatch and they will place an order will will take another 3-4 weeks.
Not happy Jan

You guys still getting the Yumauchi's RX-8 book, special rotary key, free Murcott's driving course and other pieces of rubbish as well?

Or is it for pre launch orders only?

I only know that pre launch orders has a pre launch drive day that some of us went to! Remember the old days AMG :D. That was fun! We can say that we track the 8 (although is not ours) before anyone did :thumbs up:

Mine took about 3 weeks. The most disconcerting thing was that I had to wait till then to get the 'special' Roadside Assistance number/card/program details for 8 owners. They should hand it to you when you get your car ...

Taka, no you don't get the book anymore - it's just the the Roadside Assistance Program details, and some marketing fluff.

Cheers,
John

Oh ic....

We better post the Roadside Assist number on the web so people like me who do not take the manual in the car can access it.

Do you have the roadside assist number handy??

Welcome pack? What welcome pack? I've had my 8 for 10 months now and I did not see any welcome pack. Is it worth chasing?

I guess the only thing of value is the safety drive course. It must be taken within six months of the car's purchase. In our case we have already lost more than a month waiting for the pack. The next course is not until the end of July. (Actually, there are spots for Thursday and Friday this week - I can't reschedule my life on two days notice)

The roadside assistance is useless as we already have RACQ Ultra Care... In fact, I find in hard to believe that anyone would buy a car without some sort of Automobile club membership.. They provide a brochure for Premium Roadside Assistance, but do not explain what you get with the standard (free) roadside assistance..

The "Making the most of it" is generic - in fact it looks like this pack goes to all Mazda buyers and not just RX-8 owners. For example, I like the way that it talks about the first 1,000km (we did this service two weeks ago) and advises not to tow a heavy trailer! At least the pre-buy people got books and special keys.. Not even a key tag.. Looks like buying a RX-8 is nothing special from Mazda's perspective.

Hey...just enjoy the car! That's what you bought, and you bought it for reasons quite apart from any welcome pack...or at least I did

I had to use the roadside assistance the other day. A lot of scanalyser testing recenly and no long trips to top the battery up properly resulted in a flat battery which I found after the better half left in the other car.

Took them an hour and 15 to get to me (when they'd said 45 minutes) - they only have three guys covering Brisbane and my guy had to come from about 30k's away during peak hour. I'll be getting RACQ once the included assistance runs out.

P.S. I'm now the proud owner of an automatic battery charger... no more flat batteries due to testing. It's amazing how much better the car starts with a fully charged battery.
