Ok, I own a base 8 and feel that staying N/A would keep its reliability. I know some guys on here already have turbos but this is not the route I want to take. I would be happy if I could run a 13 second pass all n/a. Is this a pipe dream or can it be done? I'm guessing that i'm lookin for roughly 220whp to acheive this. Aside from the regular bolt ons what else can I do to make this happen?

Look at reducing weight: wheels, seats, A/C, sound deadening, battery, driver. It all adds up to be less car to push down the strip.

do everything charles hill has done except the nitro. that should put you right at 220. and he hasnt even started tuning with a piggy back yet :)

Thanks for the responses but I forgot to mention that I'm not going to drag the car much , I just want to get the car in the 13 second range. I'm setting the car up for autox. This is still my daily driver and I don't want to make too many sacrifices. I need A/C! how much weight is in the sound deadening? Also I noticed that most use the emanage as the piggyback. How about the safc 2? which is better for our car?

i thikn charles hill got in the 13 sec range..with a mid-pipe, flywheel, pulleys, and intake (but i think he put the stock intake back in b/c it was better)...btu now the revi is out....so that should really effect daily driving at all. oh and he left all his seats and carpeting in the car i believe...you can pm him for details ... or i guess look at his profile to see his mods :D

(he has racing beat suspension i think)

It all depends on RWHP | Weight of Car+Driver | # of Shifts to Cross 1/4 Finish | Tire Height | Final Drive Ratio and then driver skill. So, lets say I am at 220 HP, 3100 lbs, 3 Shifts, 25.72", 4.44:1. That is a 14.02 ET so I need more HP to go under 14 sec.

Of course this is all speculation using the calculator from RX7.com :)

Tire Heights:

Gear Ratios:
1st 3.76:1
2nd 2.27:1
3rd 1.65:1
4th 1.19:1
5th 1.00:1
6th 0.84:1
Final drive 4.44:1

Be careful with calculators...HP doesn't create good e/t's...driver does. I'd say ANY car with the power to run 14.02 could run 13.8 with a good driver. :)

I bet we'll see a stock RX8 with a 13-second timeslip this summer.

Not with the stock rims/tires or suspension. Change those and I'm sure your right (with a good driver ;))

:D The car is only .5 away from that right now...Maybe I'll take out the Audio...back seat...passenger seat...and go beat on the clutch for an afternoon.

I'm thinking the exact same thing but I'm gonna run with 17's and rb springs....we shall see. :D
