Who knows of some good hot sauces. All the ones I try are really hot and all, but they don't add much flavor to the food, just burn your buds off.

Photic 04-23-2005, 05:30 PM heh, I was going to recommend Daves insanity sauce special reserve. Comes in a little wooden coffin :) I didn't think it was all that hot. 5 drops in 2 gallons of chili seemed to get everyone in the place a case of the sweats. I took a drop on my tongue, and didn't think much of it. Everyone was expecting my head to explode. Imagine their dissapointment. Photic 04-23-2005, 05:31 PM Actually from what I hear he also makes some really tasty stuff too. http://www.davesgourmet.com/ Air Force RX8 04-23-2005, 05:39 PM Dave's insanity is crazy hot if you ask me. I like hot and spicy things, but not so hot you can't taste the food... Texas 8 04-23-2005, 10:12 PM I personally like good 'ol Franks. I think either they tamed their Insanity Sauce down a bit or my taste buds are fried from eating too much hot food but it doesn't seem as hot as it used to be. They do have spices and other sauces that are pretty good. Franks has several new sauces out that are pretty good. Not too hot but a lot of flavor. Makes for great buffalo wings. HIX8 04-23-2005, 11:12 PM Would you like a dash of irony with your hot sauce? A few months prior to the Columbia mess, the folks who manufacture the External Tank were at a space convention handing out "Louisiana Hot Sauce". The ET is made in Louisiana. Columbia's mission ended in Louisiana. I seriously doubt that these folks plan on handing out any more "Hot Sauce". scottmhr1 04-23-2005, 11:24 PM Try yucatan sunshine. Hot but with flavor. They also make a few other sunshine names that are good nomopistons 04-23-2005, 11:35 PM Forget the sauce, ground cayenne is the way to go! Ike 04-23-2005, 11:37 PM I personally like good 'ol Franks. Ditto, not the hottest stuff but good flavor and the best for making wings IMO. Speed_D 04-24-2005, 12:07 AM Frank's makes a hot wing sauce. I love it. It may not be the hottest, but it gets the job done and tastes great. Rhawb 04-24-2005, 02:05 AM I love Crystal tabasco for its flavor. It's about the weakest tabasco I've ever had, but I REALLY like its flavor. Nubo 04-24-2005, 10:40 AM SRIRACHA hot chili sauce... http://www.huyfong.com/no_frames/sriracha.htm It's a very simple sauce from chilis, garlic, vinegar and salt. It's not wimpy but it's not insanely hot either and it has a good flavor. And it's cheap. You can get a large bottle of it for less than a little bottle of the silly super-hot sauces. It's fairly common in grocery stores around here. Gambit 04-25-2005, 11:59 AM I like frank's hot sauce better than their buffalo sauce personally, though they're very similar. Not really hot, but they have a good flavor moRotorMotor 04-25-2005, 12:40 PM SRIRACHA hot chili sauce... http://www.huyfong.com/no_frames/sriracha.htm It's a very simple sauce from chilis, garlic, vinegar and salt. The customers agree it has a lot of flavour, but at the same time, it isn't going to burn a hole in your tongue. MadRonin 04-25-2005, 12:58 PM Here's an interesting hot sauce made specifically for ice cream: Toad Sweat (http://www.peppered.com/sweat.html) I was skeptical at first about a hot sauce for ice cream, but this stuff is really, really good. They have four different levels of heat, none of which are too over-powering. You can buy them from them or throught Amazon.com Another hot sauce that I like a lot for wings is from these guys: Greatest Grub Ever (http://www.thegreatestgrubever.com/Home/home.html) Their wing sauce is really tangy and spicy at the same time. It's some of the best jarred sauce I've ever had. |
