AAAACK!! I can't handle the PMs...

Go to the MazdaUSA.com website.. and enter your zip code in the LOCATE A DEALER box.. Once there, find your dealer and hit the DEALER INVENTORY link..

There you will get the listing off Mazda models.. you can pretty much choose any model.. Once you get a listing of vehicles for that model, go up to your browser's URL bar and edit it so the following values for YEAR is 2004 and VEHICLE CODE is RX8.

BAM you will get the entire listing of RX-8s for that dealer.. of course this is just what's in Mazda's system obviously.. But still.. a $h!tload of information... It wont tell you where it's at.. but it will reveal what your dealer may be hiding..

I can't get it to work. What about the vehicle name?

Their web site must be getting hammered......it is super slow to respond!

Don't need to change Vehicle name.. but you could if u want..

When you click on the model listings.. you will end up at a page listing the inventory of that particular model at that dealer.. the URL will look something like this..

What you wanna tweak is year value and vehicleCode values.. As you can see here.. this link will take you to dealer 9001 and list their inventory for the 2003 Mazda 6. (bogus dealer)

Just change the link to look like this..

tp://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/vlSelectModel.action?vtype=NEW&isFromDealer=true&isComplete=false&dealerId=9001&year=2004&dealerName=&zip=&name=Mazda6&vehicleCode=RX8

Nah, I just took a chance and tried it.. I used to design database driven sites and passing values via the URL is commonplace.. Just guessing at the values is the main thing.

The good news is that mi VIN is registered to my dealer and the configuration is correct.

Yep, Thankfully my dealer shows 10 RX-8s and one of them is my VIN, with all the correct options, etc.

Perfect tool for someone like myself who did not preorder, but will attempt to buy a dealer inventory vehicle. BTW, this info appears very accurate, I have visited local dealers myself and seen their inventory on paper!! I wish I would have known about this before I spent hours visiting dealers and being harrassed by salespersons!!

Mine works -- my dealer has 7 listed, one of which is my VIN. Interesting, mine is the only one coming with two-tone leather (red/black). All the rest they're getting are black fabric or leather. And ALL of them are 6MT.

This supports the notion that the rx-8 will be a high volume car. For those of us who did not pre-order, there shouldl be plenty of cars to chose from. I don't think price gouging will work, at least not for me.

My dealer has 2 yellow coming. Mine, vin 1308, and another yellow with vin 1303. I put in a price quote request for my car. Like to see his face when he reads that.

Looks like around 110 cars total for the St. Louis area!

That is way more than I expected to be around this soon.

It should be really easy to get a test drive. :)

I think the listing you see is for the dealer's entire allocation, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Anything other than those, arent probably listed yet..

Reason I say that is because one of the dealers in my area lists 10 total, yet they know they are only getting 2 in this first batch..

Thanks so much for this! I see that I am 10th out of 15 vehicles at my dealership and that they ordered the accessories I asked for. I selected my car and printed out 'my' Window Sticker (actually generic except VIN and colour etc)- great stuff.

My dealer has 4 cars listed - the three pre-ordered cars, and one of the dealer allocated units, that's it. I am guessing that since I know he ordered a ton of cars and only 4 are showing, that many of the cars that other dealers have may already have owners and are sold. At any rate, so far my car is unique over what he has coming in.

Hey..the only thing is when I go to the description page it's showing 16" wheels...what up with that? Yeah, I got auto but I got GT which is supposed to upgrade the wheels & brakes & DSC....i have to assume it's a typo, right?

1. After you click "View dealer's Inventory" the resulting page displays 2003 models.
2. You must click one of the 2003 models first.
3. On your results page, click "next" or page "2". Then click page "1" (do not use your browser's 'back' button).
4. Now you will have the complete URL in your address bar.

Also, you can do the same thing by searching for all dealers within 100 miles (etc) of your ZIP. Was interesting to see what RX-8's will be in the L.A. area over the next few months. That's Lower Alabama, y'all. :p

Nice find, RX-Nut! I'm #2 on a list of 11. I checked some other dealers too, and it looks like there are plenty to be had. There are 24 coming in at the dealership that wouldn't guarantee me MSRP (so I walked). If all of these cars were to arrive at once, maybe there'll be some wiggle room under MSRP. Should be interesting to see how things play out with sales.

You'd be surprised. A LOT of people will buy this car because it's so cute, or it will get them laid - and many of those won't care about the specs or won't know how to drive a stick, anyway.

see what RX-8's will be in the L.A. area over the next few months. That's Lower Alabama, y'all.

And here in U.A. (Upper Alabama), my dealer has 9, and within a 100 mile radius, there is a total of ~ 50 RX-8's in the hopper. The 9 my dealer has listed I belive to be his 3 allotments of pre-orders only. Vins range from 1212 (mine !) to 7540.

What your looking at in dealers inventory is the 1st and 2nd allocations and part of the 3rd that's been assigned Vins. Doesn't include unbuilt 3rd,4th and 5th allocations.

I'm listed #6 out of 21, which is wierd because it's the earliest VIN.

I'm also the only GREEN out of those 21 - kewl!

I wonder if it is not the green paint. My dealer has 20 cars coming and the only green is last . The VIN is 7792.

green is the very top of my dealers list, vin 1636. So I don't think that is problem

Also another funny thing is the car just below mine is a Titanium sport package with the last four of 0666. Would any of you be a little uneasy about taking delivery of that one?

BTW, it seems like Mazda has begun to change their website. Certain types of searches do not pass parameters in the URL, but the method outlined in this thread still does (for now).

If you begin looking at the dealer's inventory and they try to change dealers through the orange link toward the top right, you can't get to that dealer's RX-8 inventory in the same way.

YEEHAW, I just looked through the inventories for all four San Diego county dealerships, it appears that mine is the only green.

Just got the email, my car was built last week and is now on it's way. I feel a little better now. I just hope it doesn't take the listed 8 weeks to get here, because I was hoping to take it on vacation at the beginning of August!

Way back when we started building our RX-8s and the 'print window sticker' option was available, the printout had the Package name but not what was included in the package. This seems to be the same window sticker we could print out then. No change, except now the Fuel Information is present. Note that it also does not print out the selected accessories.

Holy Crap! Cory Fairbanks Mazda is the largest volume dealer. They're getting something like 50+ RX8s and I'm one of them.

One of those VINS belongs to me :D. I've also got a second VINS emailed to me that I didn't put a deposit with the dealer due to dealer markup. Seemed like Mazda is building those cars base on the pre-order originally submitted online. Because I remember I submited one to another dealer and the deal didn't go throught, but the vins and spec was built base on my request and mazda emailed me the vins & built dates as well.

So does that mean I can claim the unaccounted pre-order? In my dream perhaps :D

I can see that 'my dealer' is adding 2 grand to the price - mine costed at 31.100 and all his are at 33.100.

I looked at ton of cars from various dealers in my area and they seem to be listed as it says "MSRP" with whatever port options they chose.

That would be the navigation system. The dealer cannot alter the price thats showing on the Mazda site. It will only show actual MSRP.

I don't think the order of the VIN's on the webpage is what # you are out of how many they have. I know I'm the 4th pre-order and 1st allocation. And my VIN# is listed 10/12 for my dealer. I think the VIN's are just those ordered in no particular order.

Thanks RX-Nut. I actually determined my VIN # before the "Your VIN has been Assigned email". Mine was the only SP silver with cloth. I'm surprised at the number of A/T (Almost half out of 61).

should I be worried if my car is not showing up on the list??

It shows my dealer getting 11 cars (which is what they told me) but my cars not listed!?!? I was suppose to be getting it the first week of August in the 2nd allocation. WTF is going on??? :( :(

Prober, do you have your VIN yet? If not, call your dealer and get it, and that may help you a bit. Don't worry if it's not on their list yet- it just may not be showing up yet.

Funny. I had a RED 1995 MX-3 with the numbers "666" in the VIN. I had more freak accidents in that car than any other. Wiped out the right side within one month. Wiped out the left side 6 months later (both by guardrails).

Luckily I'm not superstitious :D

I'm gonna call tomorrow... the thing thats making me really wonder is as of when I put the money down (3 weeks ago I think) it was strangely missing a VIN number then....

Absolutely amazing, works like the man says. One wonders why Mazda just doesn't let us see this anyway. What are they hiding it from the public for?. After all, don't they want to sell these cars??

Just checked a Boston area dealer, Wakefield, and they have 20 yes 20! RX8s coming in. I guess there really is no shortage (if they can ever get the first one in).

Anyway it was still fun placing my order 2 1/2 years(!) ago, even though I guess I cuda just waited til next week or so.... walked in off the street and said, cute, I'll take one of those red ones and probably got $500 off MSRP to boot!

if the car hasn't been officially released why would/should they release information to the public?

I can't get the normal dealer search to work. I enter in my zip code and it just craps out and says "an error has occured".

Methinks they've just got some general problems, since even the basic "Locate a dealer" search function isn't working. Taking that offline because a few folks are looking up RX-8 inventories, would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

this is cool- I see my car- however, it does appear the most common configuration in Nashville is what I ordered- Silver with black leather (GT)- well, at least I should have the first one...

BTW, 6 months to the day from the beginning of the official preorder process! Cant be long now!

Why would they tell you that? Wouldn't that kinda tend to PO other Mazda dealers in the area? Plus they're sticking their neck out. Are they implying Crystal ALWAYS beats other dealers on EVERY deal? I doubt it...:(

7 of the 21 cars coming into Jeff Haas are Titanium Gray including mine so I was a little worried that I would driving the same color as almost everyone else. (1 out of 3 :()

So I looked at 3 other dealerships in my area and out of 96 cars from the 4 dealerships the following rundown is:

Silver....24%
Red.......21%
Black.....18%
Gray......18%
Yellow.....7%
Green......7%
Blue.......5%

So silver takes the gold in color choices. And my gray is now 18% which is 1 out about every 5-6. :) Much better.

I actually stumbled across this a few days ago before even seeing this thread. I didn't have to monkey with the URL. I think if you have a RX8 built and saved, and you have your local dealer saved, and then go into search inventlry it will default to your dealer's RX8's.
