hey everyone! I have a few questions regarding my new 8! I FINALLY picked it up yesterday and things are going great! I wanted to know what the best process was to run the car in effectively! The general do's and don’ts! how hard should I rev it when im driving during the running in period??? etc etc any help would be appreciated!!!!

Run it in according to the manual.

Warm it up before driving, I let the idle drop until it's stable around 1200 and then drive below 3500 until warm. Not much of an effort and worth it in the long term.

Try a few searchs for other hints and the sticky post "ten things etc etc".

No one like to talk to me anymore

EDIT: you have read that thread :p

Run in should be as of any normal piston cars. That is why I did not write it up, since every body have their theory.

I am more conservative. less than 3000 rpm for first 300. 4000 rpm for first 500. 5000 for 700km and change oil at 1000km. I did not race my engine until 2000km.

The manual is pretty good guidance. Actually it's pretty liberal. I disagree with the analogy to a piston engine though. It's not. Remember that the rotors are only spinning at 1/3 the rpm of the eccentric shaft, so at 3000rpm the rotors are only spinning at 1000rpm, and at 6000rpm, the rotors are spinning at 2000 rpm etc. I didn't floor mine during the run in, but I had no problems letting it gradually rev to 6-7000rpm. It really aint working that hard!

What Wildcard said. You should vary speed and revs, so don't be afraid to use quite a wide range
