View Full Version : Preorder ppl that stuck w/ 3rd allocation units?

I'm so annoyed, perhaps NOT knowing the status of our vehicles is a good thing BUT it can be a heart wrenching thing as well.

Is there anyone else that put money down on 1/8/03, was promised a preorder (1st allocation), then told there was a mistake, then suddenly put on a 2nd allocation schedule, then all of a sudden, your VIN status still says "In Transit"?!

"Patience is a virtue" and "good things comes to those that wait" but that only implies when the other party has integrity! I feel I should sue for the interest lost on my $2K down and the interest gained (on mazda's side) for the money I put down.

I just told my dealer off in an email and probably will make a quick trip to really lay it on him. At this point, the only way he's going to keep my money (after lying in my face 3 times) is if he gives me most of my accessories for free and/or free extended warranty on the engine.

At this point, the Lotus dealers in the region of CA has sent me more informaiton on the Elise (misc. notes, emails forwards, pictures and european brochures) than my mazda dealer has done for 6 months.

I'm ranting but I feel ripped off, just knowing there are people who are getting their RX8's earlier than me while purchasing it 2-4 months after me, just fuels the fire more.

Am I over reacting here?

ps: thanks fubar for the status, I think you've helped me understand the nature of this dealer here in CA. He's a liar and I will never do business with this person again UNLESS he meets my demands.

Naw man.. you're justified..

I get almost the same thing here.. they think that because the car will pretty much sell itself, they feel like they dont have to "cater" (for lack of a better word) to prospective buyers..

For the past 6 months, I have been emailing, calling, visiting.. you name it.. and I still get the same reaction from them, like I'm no big deal. It could be because they're sick of the car, or maybe because I'm one of hundred dudes doing the same thing.. Either way, I dont feel the love either..

On numerous occasions my guy tells me he will call me on a certain day with more info.. he never does call... I mean come on now.. if this was any other car, or other any service, I'd say screw you and go somewhere else... but unfortunately, I know and they know, we got no where to turn.

Sorry, I know this is a rant.. and slightly off the topic.. but it needed to be said..

I think I may be stuck with a 3rd allocation as well, and I ordered Feb 1st, which should have put me in the 2nd, at the least. The worst is that my stupid dealer had 25 cars with only 5 claimed as little as a month ago! Why they didn't just change one of their first cars to my specs, I don't know. But my car hasn't even been built yet.

I think everyone assumes "1st come, 1st served". But it does not always work that way. I put down a deposit on May 8th, but my order date was 2/21. I was told I was in the 3rd allocation. My VIN is 4981, and yet, my car is "ON THE WATER". My dealer said it looked like I was moved from the 3rd to the 2nd allocation. I know from the Corvette allocation system, that they only make so many of each combination (color, transmission, options, etc.) So a not so popular combo might move ahead of one that is popular, because of parts limitations. Each week they have a specific number of each transmission, each type of seat, etc. from the suppliers.

UPDATE:

I emailed my dealer stating the discrepency of information that fubar has given me versus what my dealer has given me. Here are his words:

Saturday, June 28th
"Alex, as indicated, your RX-8 appears to be in port."

So, I reply by stating that as of June 28th @ 6:11pm, my VIN status was still "In Transit". And that another person with another VIN (whom had the same status) now shows up as "Received at Port", therefore, this would imply that you [Mazda Dealer] just lied again.

So, I offered a benefit of the doubt where I told him, I'll ask my source [aka. fubar] to check my VIN again and if the status is received at port, I'll just go ahead and purchase the RX8. BUT if it still shows up as "In Transit", I'd probably seek a more trustworthy dealer somewhere else, either another Mazda dealer or another brand of car.

He emails be back stating he's returning my deposite.

Integrity in a person goes much farther [for me] than a new RX8.
So, I may not get an RX8 due to this dealer.

Man, what kind of customer service is that?????

...WHICH DEALERSHIP?

I'd like to NOT go there for sure.

My question is a fair question.

You didn't "bash" either; I'm asking you.

I would be way disappointed if that happened to me. Someone up higher in the organization needs to hear about this.

....unbelieveable.

Quantum -

I set the tone of the email (is that possible with email?) as being ascertive, no-nonsense and professional. I would never bash on the dealer or the dealership, in terms of profanity. Rather, I questioned the integrity of the information that I receieved from this dealer (and in essence, the dealership itself).

I no way personally attacked the dealer or dealership.

The dealership was Oaktree Mazda of San Jose.

To add, I was one of those "idiots" who were willing to pay $5k markup with a $2k non-refundable down on the RX8 w/out any questions asked on my side (I knew what I wanted). After the first fib, I wanted to have a refundable $2k down (a slap on the write against this dealership) then after the second fib, I asked for no $5k markup (second slap on the write). The third, all I wanted was the facts; as a result, no RX8.

...I was not implying that you would speak with profanity.

...the fact that you didn't mention the dealer's name through all of this (I may have missed an earlier thread) speaks of your integrity.

I know what service is, it's paying attention to your customer's needs and wants are; that did not happen here. As a customer, I would pursue talking to those above the dealership of your dissatisfaction. Obviously, you're not going back; they had their chance and I understand that. I'm just disappointed that something is not said to Mazda so there isn't another situation that comes up again, just like yours.

-walking away with a clear concious is always best.

....you were no "idiot"; you were the customer who was treated unfairly.

Think of someone who is not as "smart" as you man; they are the real "suckers". Talk to someone. It wouldn't hurt and may help someone else.

Alex, you are not alone. I ordered on January 10 and was promised my 8 by the end of March (lie!). Then promised in April (another lie, when the manufacturing line wasn't even running yet). The left-side steering wheel cars were not even started until May 23. Now they tell me I'm built as of 6/23, shipped from Japan on 6/27, but I don't know if I believe them.

How is it that we are among the first to order and our 8s aren't on the first boats????
