View Full Version : New Info
budaman 06-28-2003, 08:43 PM Good Evening from Southern California!
Just got in from our road trip from Texas to Upland,Ca. so I thought I'd check my inventory report. The second boat has docked at Port H and the third boat has left Japan for the westcoast. a lot of your rx's just got a little closer. flying back to texas in the morning and back at the store on monday and should be able to check some vin's if ibfubar is out of touch. ya'll have a great weekend.
QuantumTheory08 06-29-2003, 09:38 AM So is anyone able to go down to the port and SEE the boat or the cars or what's going on down there? Man I'm drooling to know. Let's send in the papiarazzi!!!!
Budadman and Ibfubar, you guys are great - thanks for all the info. Way cool
roachman 06-29-2003, 09:53 AM Boowana,
Do you know why boats for the east coast are so far behind the west coast boats. There are a lot of folks that ordered in the "first allocation" on the east coast (vin <2000) whose boat just left and cars will not hit dealers until mid Aug.
At the current rate, west coast will have 6 boats to the east's three by second week of July.
I know you have had some insight in the past. But, just some reasonable explaination would be nice :o)
Thanks,
Roachman
Farsyde 06-29-2003, 11:58 AM i would guess b/c the boats have to travel all the way to the panama canal then up the east coast.

I think he meant more why 3 boats have already departed for west, while east's 2nd has only just departed.
boowana 06-29-2003, 03:35 PM I don't have any insight into why the east coast is behind the west. My understanding is that the boats are laoded according to what's on the dock. once their filled (and they do carry other stuff), they head to sea. The trip to the east coast might take an axtra three to four days but that's it. I think you'll see cars showing up shortly.
:p

Now, the last 4 digits, 6927, seem to tell me this car will be built sometime in '04 or later! But, the SM says that all the cars with the NAV system which he's ordered have numbers that start with "6" in the last four digits! Go figure?
I dont know if I'd go along with what your dealer is saying - I ordered mine, GT 6spd w/ NAV, and the last four are 2177. I guess I'd just take what the dealer says with a grain of salt.

It better not be signifying a NAV, because my car is 66XX something, and I didn't order it.
mazdabob 06-30-2003, 02:32 AM 1. elara, don't worry, the last 5 digits are a sequence number.
2. Tybee, don't worry, my VIN is 04981, and my car was built on 6/17, and is "on the water".
rxtreme 06-30-2003, 06:22 AM Ifubar or budaman, mind checking on my VIN again (lower right corner), if mine shows a status of "on water", that would probably mean alot of other 2nd allocation east coast orders are on water, as well. Thanks in advance.
budaman 06-30-2003, 10:43 AM Good Morning All
Back in Texas!

Also, RX's bound previously for Midlothian have arrived and should be sent to dealers by end of week!
Today is Mazda's closeout so I'll be doing RDR's and other Mazda stuff today, but will try to check in every so often in case anyone else needs a vin run. Will try to check them today.
brownchiro 06-30-2003, 11:01 AM Budaman: My dealer is in Arlington, do you think I may get my car this weekend? How about you guys, will you have yours this weekend? Austin is only a few hours from Midlothian. I have gone to Midlothian Tuesdays and Thursdays, could not see anything from the outside. Guard said he did not know anything; he took down my license number for asking.
Since California is not driving their cars, still looks like Mazda is holding back for a launch.

Which begs the question, How stupid is a National Launch with no type of promotion?
budaman 06-30-2003, 11:07 AM Getting yours from Hiley, huh? They are at Midlothian and I hear they should go to dealers by end of week. I think some are going to have a great 4th of July!
Magnesium 06-30-2003, 11:09 AM I did a drive by of the Tacoma Port. I counted about 25 cars lined up to be loaded onto rail cars. Being it was Sunday, not much happening.
I would suspect that they would move out today. None of them appeared to have any port options installed, but that is my speculation due to no spoilers on any of them.
Shouldn't be too long now.

budaman 06-30-2003, 12:29 PM Doesn't look like the Port Jersey boat has hit yet.
Vins: 1130 & 0748 are still showing a 20
Vin: 6064 is a 10
Vin: 2177 is a 30; Boozehound, if yours was on the second Port H boat you should see it in about 2 - 3 weeks. if it was on first boat you should see it by weeks end.
rxtreme 06-30-2003, 12:39 PM Status 10 Vin: 2626 sorry RXTreme
So let me get this straight before I go cuss out my dealer: The second east coast boat, the one POE: NJ has left Japan and is on its way, but mine is not on it. Am I right? Or has this boat not left Japan yet? I need to know so I can start looking for another RX-8 at another dealer.

RXnut, yours is at the port in Honolulu!

rxnut, 2433 & 2513 are probably at a luau with yours. 7588 doesn't exist yet.
RX-Nut 06-30-2003, 08:37 PM Cooooooool thanks..

budaman 06-30-2003, 08:44 PM No I haven't figured it out yet. I'm used to working on a MAC and haven't got all the differences down yet using windows. if you'll P/M me your fax #, I'll fax it to you. Fax machines I got down!
