View Full Version : Color
danielk015 09-07-2002, 12:30 AM what colors from the photoshop ones you have seen, and with just a little imagination do you think would look best???
i love yellow...
but a nice silver, or a bluish silver would be phat.. i think i saw one on the photoshop pic..
also, a deeper blue, like the bmw's blue would look nice.. those three are my picks
Hercules 09-07-2002, 02:11 AM Here's the colors available on the Mazda6. I'm sure the RX-8 will get all of these:

boowana 09-07-2002, 09:28 AM Not necessarily. For example, there is no yellow in your post. Also, there are always fewer colors on sports cars than sedans. Not al will make it and some maybe different.
zoom44 09-07-2002, 04:15 PM hmmmm.... titanium grey or silver contrail. i'll have to see it in person i think. definetly one of those two
miata35 09-07-2002, 08:41 PM on the mazda 6 and the rx-8, three colors have been confirmed for the mazdaspeed versions. Black, Orange, and a special silver color will be offered on those models. Its kind of funny how the have released colors of the cars that wont be out for a while but that havnt said anything about the cars that are coming out sooner.
zoom44 09-07-2002, 08:56 PM definetly not ha ha funny, it is more like aggravating
boowana 09-08-2002, 02:38 PM If you want to see Titanium Gey in person, go and look at a 2002 Special Edition Miata. That's the color.
I would think it could be a good candidate.:o

It was not like most silvers that look good if you tilt your head this way, and looks like an oxidated mess if you tilt your head that way. Instead, it was nice and deep. I loved it.
But even if they were to use that color, or the smooth Titanium Grey that boo-boy mentioned (take a look at that one in person, not in pictures, it's very different), I would have to see them in person. What works on one car won't necessarilly work on another, IMO. Black would be a good fall-back, but I don't think that I would want it as a primary choice on this car (I'm going by the winter testing videos seen elsewhere on this forum). I know that I won't want this one in white, and I shy away from reds. Very few cars have the right shade of reds, IMHO (Ferraris do, the latest Miatas do, early NSXs do, but that's about it). So far, I'm really liking that yellow. But I'll have to see...
And I also agree with Boowana that Japan normally has a relatively restricted color choice in most sports cars, and they shift from year to year. I wouldn't go by what they offer in another model, even though there might be some similarities (like the 6's Garnet red, which will also be available on 2003 Miatae).

EDIT: Okay, I just saw the spy-photos on this thread (http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=589), and silver just took a huge lead. Looking at the third picture, and tossing in some imagination, a white pearl might not be too bad. But I still don't think that a pure white (arctic white above) would look that good, IMHO.
applejax 09-08-2002, 10:08 PM white
black
red (personally, I don't like. but gotta have it)
silver (shiny silver. not bottom of coffee cup silver)
that's all we need.
although, the montego(?) blue of the 3rd gen. RX7's was nice, so let's say that.
Oh, and we know we'll have yellow.
And let's just add a teal or an aqua for fun. Let's say aqua.
Hercules 09-08-2002, 11:58 PM I want the dark blue, like that Strato Blue Mica, gorgeous color for the RX-8.... *drool*
bolda48 09-10-2002, 01:33 AM Red. A very bright fire engine red. But then again I am a sucker for redheads. :D
1st of all, I'm new - came over from the Miata boards. Howdy!
2nd - did anyone take a close look at that Mazda6 color chart above? "Crassic red", anyone? Hehe, you gotta love Japenglish. Reminds me of my owners manual for my 79 Toyota Corolla...
Pealecent red-orange. You only live once, and in this car, it may not be long... :D
Grimace 09-11-2002, 08:30 PM I like all the darker colours except the green. (I'm tired of getting pulled over, no bright colours for me.)
Actually, I may go with a white car. My old RX-7 and MX-6's were white. Must continue the tradition. :)
