Is there any use in the (fairly solid) crossbar that holds the spare wheel after you've stowed the spare elsewhere? My son reckons it's solid enough to be a rear sway bar
Cheers,

It may have some small benefit, but any benefit it does have would be offset by the pain-in-the-arse factor of leaving it in there. It weighs 1kg, turf it and increase your power/weight ratio :) . RXP33D 04-13-2005, 12:19 AM Yeah i wish u could turf my spare, cause I didnt even get one. Its been 1 whole year and 2 months with me nagging the dealer only recently. Day of delivery, salesman told me i will get it soon as they havent got any in stock. I was too excited about the car to give a rats about its spare. Now i do as i have to go canberra soon, theyre taking there sweetass time. Getting it installed tuesday. Don't they make X spares for X cars produced, or is the dealer screwing about? timbo 04-13-2005, 12:27 AM Talk to your dealer. Mine cannibalised the next 8 that came in to fit mine...maybe you are at the end of the very long chain that was set off by my car not having it when it arrived ;) mikeyr 04-13-2005, 01:06 AM No-one's done any testing on it. It did occur to me as being pretty stupid to still have it in the boot since the spare is holding down some timber in the back of the garage.:( And the time it occured to me was just after I'd spent half an hour carefully wraping bits of electrical tap and stuffing wadding around the brace, jack etc trying to eliminate a bloody rattle in the boot! (unsuccessfully i might add!!) Still there though.....went and got a beer instead meaning the 1kg is probably up to 2kg:p |
