Grand Prix of Atlanta
Marks Return of Popular Spring Sports Car Race

The popular spring IMSA sports car race at Road Atlanta returns this year with the Sportsbook.com Grand Prix of Atlanta April 15-17. Road Atlanta will be only track to host two American Le Mans Series races, with the added bonus of live CBS-TV network coverage for the Sportsbook.com Grand Prix of Atlanta.

It will be a sprint race – 2 hr 45 min – starting at Noon on Sunday, April 17. Think of it as a mini Petit Le Mans! And don’t forget that Petit Le Mans has a new date – Sept. 28-Oct. 1!

Tickets are now on sale, including a Combo Ticket for both the Sportsbook.com Grand Prix of Atlanta and Petit Le Mans!

So does anyone know if the new 3 rotor renesis car will be raced?

no but they will be racing a 3-rotor Renesis engine :D and it is Mazda's return to big market racing (I prefer smaller market personall :))

unless that is a different race this weekend at the same locale

I HOPE this is in High-Def. then I will surely watch it!

While talking my Mazda contact today on the phone I was able to hear the car running at the track. It was quite cool. We were discussing some Mazda event participation stuff when all of a sudden I hear zoooooooooom... and he yells, "That was the masarati, hang on a sec." about three seconds later I hear twice as loud and twice as high pitched VVVVVVVRRRRROOOOOOOMMMMMM and he yells back, "Did you hear it? Did you hear it?" Yep, I heard it alright I think I need to take my cell phone in for servicing though...

But it did bring chills, it was very cool...

Splan8,
Thanks for the info on the race being on CBS. I would have expected my Tivo to pick it up on SpeedChannel and would have missed it.

No problem. Tivo is the greatest thing ever, except when it let's you down.

No, you didn't miss anything.

They started coverage 50 minutes into the race and almost all of the coverage was focussed on the P1 class and GT2 class. I don't think they really showed the Mazda at all.

Congrats to them for the 2nd place finish. I just wish CBS would have shown more of the Mazda car  .
