Good Morning Gang

Checked status on some of the Eastcoast Vins this morning and I think a new boat has left Japan. One of the Vins,101850, was showing a 10 when I ran it on the 19th and is now showing a 20 bound for Port Jacksonville. I ran a couple bound for Port Jersey but they were still showing a 10. Hope this is good news to some of you in the Southeast.

Sweet. Thanks budaman. What'd the 1st one take, one month to get to port (Jax)? So, this one'd probably take a month, as well, which'd put us into an August deliery time frame. Sound about right to you?

Edit: Was 1553 one of the ones you checked, by any chance?

Could you check mine to see if it's on that ship?

Yes it is now showing a status 20, in transit. Don't think it will take as long as the first boat. The west coast ships seem to making the trip in shorter times so hopefully so will the east bound ships.

I also ordered my RX8 from Fairbanks Mazda (on 17/92). When did you order yours? I ordered mine in early March and I still haven't received a VIN#. Are you dealing with Felicia? Let me know. Thanks

Yes, I ordered mine at Fairbank on Jan. 10 and I dealt with Felicia also. To hell with other minions.

Why is the 2nd east coast boat (the one going to NJ) such an issue? You figure that's the trip that takes the longest and Mazda would ship that one out first. The RX-8's going to VA are Jesey bound if I recall. Damn, I'm getting pissed!

There's not much you can do to speed the trip from Japan to the East Coast. It will be about 30 days. Expect the ship to have both Southeast and Northeast cars. First stop in Jacksonville then north to Jersey City. Very unlikely to have dedicated ships for each port. I would almost bet some NE vin#s will show in transit in the next 48 hours along with those Budaman saw today.

Another thing about these ships. They carry A LOT of cars and from different manufacuturers, not just Mazda. Some of these delays in Japan could be just bad timing on the shipping schedule. Unless Mazda can charter a ship (fill it with Mazdas only/4000+) its out of their control.

Is anyone aware of 1st shipment Jersey-bound cars showing a '30' yet? I'm assuming they are still on the way to Jersey with a possible port arrival of 7/2. You can use mine if you don't mind looking it up:

RX8daniel, Yours is still showing a 20. Checked one of the Vins that is on the first load to Port Jacksonville, and it is still showing a 20 also. The word I got was thart it was to hit Jacksonville on the 28th and Jersey on the 2nd. Looks like it going true to form.

No change in Jersey bound cars. Maybe tommorrow, but I'll be California bound tommorrow and won't be able to check. Will be out of pocket until Monday. Maybe Ibfubar can help.

Yeah, I just got word today from my dealer. Yesterday showed a VIN status of ON WATER, where it was New VIN on the 21st. Feeling a little better now. Dealer is pissed, though.

Jacksonville Port now shows an NYK vessel, Maersk Taiyo, arriving June 30 with 'autos' docking at Blount Island! This should be our ship for the first orders arrving on the East Coast!

NY/NJ do not (so far as I have found) post schedules to the internet so can not confirm date Maersk Taiyo is docking in Jersey City. Previous info on forum is July 2. Someone near the port authority may be able to call and confirm details of this ship.

The Maersk Taiyo is confirmed as part of NYK Line RORO fleet. Unfortunately, I have been unable to access their schedules for RORO vessels. Geez, automakers are secretive! :D

Thanks, TreknMazda and Budaman for the info., it's good news or the first RX-8 owners. Please keep us updated if you hear anything about the 2nd east coast ship!

BTW -- thanks for keeping us posted on the Jax Port status. Mine is on that boat as well!

I was not at the RX-8 event. I was upholding my long standing tradition of buying a RX without seeing (live) or test driving the car before it arrives. Of course the last time I did this (1985) I only had to wait about a month. :p At least I know, or think I know, that my RX-8 is aboard the Maersk Taiyo (NYK LINES) and will dock in Jersey City on July 2. :cool:

But the officers that were there are VERY impressed! :D

Just got a call from my Dealer 7:12pm 6/27/03, he says that my car is in the port at Jax. This is the first call I have received frm him.

He also said that NONE of the accessories are available yet except for the door sils.

The dealer's comment that it should be delivered within two weeks may just have some validity. I personally agree that Mazda is attempting to stage a mass simultaneous delivery within the USA.

With the reports of RX-8s showing in Port today, I rechecked the JAXPORT schedule and found another NYK Line ship...
Cosmos Ace - not listed as part of NYK RoRo fleet on their website -
bringing autos to Talleyrand whereas the Maersk Taiyo is going to Blount Island. The Cosmos Ace is on the schedule as arriving June 28th. Maersk Taiyo is still listed arrving June 30.

Isn't it an interesting coincidence that our RX-8s could be on a ship called Cosmos Ace?:cool:

so are the cars here yet ?? in the port?? why it takes 3 weeks for us to get it @ the dealers ??!!
