Some news from Germany:
At the "Engine Expo" in Stuttgart, the Renesis enginge used in the RX-8 has won three awards:
"Best new engine of the year"
"Best engine in the 2.5-3l class"
And the overall category:
"International Engine of the Year 2003"
The latter was won by a record breaking count of 44 out of 50 votes. Jury members were automotive journalists from 22 countries.

Oh - sorry.
Obviously didn't look well enough.
Any way to delete this complete thread?

Probably.
This sort of shows how mad Mazda in Europe are managing the RX-8 though. That someone from Germany, where the award was given, was one of the last to find out?

Well, at least I heard it from Mazda ...
First contact from Mazda since I registered as being interested in the RX-8.
AFAIK no notice of the awards in any of the German car magazines.
A lame excuse for not knowing this was old news: I was off-line for two weeks ...

I don't recall this news item, though I recall the Renesis winning an award - and even printed it out. However, it's nice to keep hearing it. But I would like someone to explain to me how a 1.3L wins in the 2.5-3.0L category. Perhaps someone who doesn't routinely take 23 items in the 10 or less express lane. j/k.

The 1.3l Renesis breathes like a 2.6, it cant obviously be compared to a 1.3 4 cylinder engine.
It has 3 firing chambers on each rotor, and each fire every revolution.
So its more like a 2.6l V6 than anything else.
