Am going to paint the calipers, have a copy of xcelr8's great DIY guide, but read a few conflicting reports on removing the brake pads. (only covers front calipers too.)

Taka etc, know few of you have upgraded pads, any tricks? Are the pads easy to reinstall? Few years since I have done this, vaguely remember having a hard time with rear pistons one time??

Appreciate any tips! :o

OK found out about the rear brake caliper tool, as I don't have one and there are no "sears" handy, anyone else bought one in Aus or NZ? One post i read said the guy used his angle grinder chuck key?

For the rear caliper "tool", I'm assuming you refer to the tool to wind the piston back in?

I got Phil to do that bit, and he used a big stonking pair of multigrips, from memory. Same as what I used to squeeze the front pistons back in.

Don't forget to watch the fluid level in the reserviour...

I only replaced the pads, and you don't need to take the whole caliper off to do that, just one bolt, and it swings away from the rotor to allow access to the pads. For the front calipers you remove the bottom bolt, and for the rear calipers, remove the top bolt. Also, you need to remove the hand-brake linkage from the rears - fairly simple to do.

I picked up the Holts Duplicolor kit from my local Repco (NZ I know, but I would expect them to have in Aus too), on special this week at NZ$21, cheaper than the US prices everyone has posted!? It's includes everything, tin of paint, cleaner, brush even a bloody paddle pop stick stirrer. It's the "ceramic added" paint" which is the highest heat resistance, 1500C i think! Many posts reckon the paint and brush gives a better finish and you don't need as much masking.

Ta, am going to use ac clamp, yank's reckon it works on the front and needlenose pliers or the magic tool if i can find for the back. I'll have to remove the pads or risk getting paint on them

Ditto, they had a nice yellow colour and orange (ezzy, probably not bright enough for you). Although Gibbo, how will anyone be able to see your nicely painted calipers after being flashblinded by the mags?
