Scanning around Drive.com.au to keep up with some used car values and saw a canary yellow 8 for sale for $18,000!!!

Is in Melbourne, 2003 model with 10,200 on the clock and assorted extras like body kit, etc. Number plate ADICTV.

Didn't look damaged in the photos - maybe they're "old shots"

Anyone know the car - sounds an outrageous bargain to me.

And no, I'm not the seller!!

Typo, poor attempt at marketing or fell of the back of a truck.

Typo....it's been there for over a week. Would have sold by now if that was the correct price.....you could afford to repaint it if you got it at that money ;) .

A (much older) mate of mine has a bright yellow convertible Ferrari 348, which he reckons he cannot sell due to the poor re-sale. I've suggested he take it up to Qld or take his punishment like a man and buy a different colour next time. :D

And no, he doesn't let mere mortals like me drive it. :( I think his insurance is void if anyone under 50 drives it.

No offence to the owners of yellow 8s here. It is a running joke with my mate that is obviously repeated on this forum at the expense of guys like Timbo.

Apologies Timbo.

They must be popular though as it is impossible to buy a new one (or so I was told by the dealer).. Something to do with them being more visible on race tracks..

It's nearly impossible to buy a new yellow one because they discontinued the colour and replaced it with Stratos Blue.

If anything, they should have discontinued Nordic green instead............

If anything, they should have discontinued Nordic green instead............I've only ever seen one and that was the one with Chrome Wheels that the Sales Manager at Cententary Mazda drove.
Can't see why Nordic Green has survived. White, even yellow :p , are better colours.

Aah well, it's all taste, isn't it. The nordic green looks fabulous in sunlight, but it's a dark colour and hence needs to be kept clean.

Just so long as they never make an orange, pink or lime green car I can live with the nordic green and even the yellow. :)

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but only yellow excites me. :)
I have to say that I always get comments from people about my car, albeit they are blind guys that are just happy to see anything......

Well I have no regrets about yellow at all, I figure that the bling will appeal to the punchbowl crowd or some old guy attempting to regain his youth, either way I would rather stand out than blend in.

Bring it on.

Pretty soon, I reckon someone will come up with a correlation between car colour and personailty profile. Hmmm... ;)

Psychiatrists have this to say of the various colour choices on the road:
Black: First choice of ambitious drivers who want to project an image of success.
Red: You're outgoing and impulsive with a youthful attitude, but easily bored. It also symbolises power and action.
Silver: You have great style and are often successful, but you tend to be pompous.
White: The first choice of doctors and drivers who are reliable and methodical.
Grey: Expresses understated good taste and indicates a safe, cautious driver.
Blue: A team player who's sociable and friendly, yet lacks imagination.
Orange: Like red, a vibrant colour which stimulates strength. It is also an inspiring and stimulating colour representing joy, fun, openness and love of being with other people.
Yellow: One of the three primary colours and stands for wisdom, imagination, joy and curiosity.
Green: People whose favourite colour is green tend to be modest, well balanced and patient.
Gold: A colour of protection, strengthens the heart and projects self-confidence. It symbolises universal love. Gold represents the good and noble, also symbolises silence, for silence is golden.

Oh my god, my life is a lie. I've worked as a designer all these years and now just find out I have no imagination

Lets test this theory out. I will sit here close my eyes and imagine something. Closing my eyes now....

Bahahahahahahahahah.. (Gasp).... deep breath... Bahahahahahaha

Sorry, I just imagined myself in a yellow 8. Who said I don't have an imagination :D

Of course I just jest. There is nothing wrong with yella. I would agree with that profile of a yellow buyer... Joy & Curiosity. I had a fellow employee with a yellow car once and he was full of joy & curiosity. He would refer to himself as newly gay & curious all the time. :D :D

Not that there is anything wrong with that... of course ;)

My wife wants a porsche or lambo in the colour "hot pink"

Not because she loves that colour, but because she KNOWS i would refuse to drive anything in that colour, no matter how good the car may be.

I'm sure she will also need some "Hello Kitty" decals and accessories for her car to... <shudder>

ROFL!!!! Gibbo, it's time to make a tacticle withdrawal or get Hymee to nuke the thread!!

By the way I actually like the yellow, but it looks better on the DB9 that been taunting me of late!

For mine you can keep your Porsches and Fazzas. The dream car for me is a gun metal grey AM Vanquish.

Retro-fitted machine guns in the front guards for people who drive slow in the fast lane would be the only mod I'd want. :D :D

P.S. An admittedly non-car loving mate of mine actually thought I'd bought an AM when he first saw the 8 (dark night!!). Almost felt like kidding him for a while but was proud enough to own up and demonstrate the 8s many talents. Typically, he was most impressed with the rear doors!!

Well, I guess I would hate to own a blue one, you unimaginitive sheep. LOL

I win on both sides, yellow and black cars for me.

Now everyone say you are sorry :)Actually I used to own a Sunburst Yellow SP20 and the first pictures of an RX-8 I saw (actually an Evolve) were in the same colour.

That was the car I feel in love with and the colour I wanted, just as I wanted an SP20 in Sunburst Yellow once I saw a preview some 6-8 months before it went on sale. I went out got that Sunburst Yellow SP20 and I would have got a Sunburst Yellow RX-8 if they existed.

That was the colour I wanted, not the homogenised paler yellow that Mazda chose for their global markets. I even seriously investigated the cost of a full professional respray in Sunburst Yellow. However, it wasn't to be (too expensive, increased insurance costs).

Winning Blue was my choice of available factory colours - not least because the Yellow '8 had been discontinued some 4 months before I bought mine.

I have to confess I have always loved the Honda yellow, so when the RX8 came out in a colour that was almost identical I just had to buy it.
