So who would take it,

Finished up a meeting with some mitsubishi people regarding some aus wide design work when one of the guys made me this offer.

We can supply you a breand new red EVO VIII with leather interior plus the ralliart upgrade ecu (another 20kw at the wheels) for $64,000 drive away. If I am interested they will organise it through one of their dealers.

Having a hard time walking away from this one!

God damn tempting I tell you. So who here would take it up?

I noticed today one of the local (Canberra) Mitsubishi dealers has two EVO VIII's on the floor. Thought it was strange as, if I recall correctly, Australia was only getting 100-150 or something.

Not my cuppa ;) but there's no doubting the wonderful performance technology sitting under that, er, shopping cart body

I'd seriously think about it, but not if it meant giving up my 8.

it still a Mitsubishi.............
nah, if EVO8 was on the market back in late 2003, i'd most like got this instead of the RX8, but now, i have my mind set on a mid 80's porka 930 :D

Had a peak at the EVO III , NO OFFENCE but its a bush pig of a car with good performance with or without leather interior or an extra 20KW as a weekend track car possibly a yes but as an everiday fun sports car no way .

I certainly would never give up the RX8 for that car the EVO 9 /10 will be a far better car IMHO.

Also Mitusbishis future is not too bright they are closing their US market and most likely leaving the Australian market as well .

Now if you said you were looking at the upcoming porsche cayman  i would say yes you have great taste , but a boy racer mitsubishi no way .

Why go out and buy a hamburger from Mc Donalds when you have filet mignon at home .

cheers

I've read in this month's Wheels that the Evo IX will be sold here in Sept as a fully homelogated model, rather than as a low-volume import, so the price would be around $4K lower than the current car meaning ~$58K. It would also have a power output closer to 206kW instead of 195kW.

The problem is I would have to give up the 8 for the evo. The offer is tempting but I just don't think I could do it :(

All the points bought up here are very relevant in particular the evo IV in September. I just keep thinking about the power of the evo on the track :D

Still doe's not have the pure sex appeal of the 8 though, no matter how much power it has!

Yeah... I would not have even posted the question. I would be too busy signing the papers for it. That is a car :D :D :D

Whilst I understand your choice I fail to understand the hesitation, I would give a big no, purely for the fact that it is simply a lancer with a turbo and bit better internals. You still look like every 19 year old with a body kit and bonnet scoops on his $16,000 lancer.
The 8 has personality, style and a uniqueness that can not be created from a base model car that is $50,000 cheaper.

Sounds to me like they're just trying to flog another soon to be obsolete unit. Everything I've seen, heard and read about them suggests that they're great fun in small doses but suck as a daily driver (unless you race a rally car for a living). :D

Glad to hear Mitsubishi are looking for more designers. They make some technically sound cars but are they fugly or what!

No designing of any cars, they are just looking at updating their company look and giving the dealerships a more modern refreshed look.

I have pretty much just decided to forget about the offer on the evo they made. Maybe the evo's are not moving as well as last year. If they were in hot demand there is no way you would think that they would be willing to offer on at such a huge discount!

They're gonna have to do more than that to tempt me to look twice at their range.
