View Full Version : Who would like to see an all RX-8 event
Horse 04-07-2005, 09:25 AM What if there was an all RX-8 event to be held, and I mean large event, at VIR some time this summer. We would have a car show, vendor row displaying some of the newest and innovative products out for the RX-8, door prizes, and awards, track time would be allowed, and hopefully we would have demos from teams like SpeedSource and other pro RX-8 race teams. I am gauging interest and gathering information to hold such an event, I plan for this event to be lasrge which means I need sponsers which means I have to prove interest. So who is interested and who would attend? Feel free to check out the VIR site, it is truely a great Complex: www.virclub.com. If anyone has anyother ideas for things to happen at the event please let me know, I have got aslot more planned but I need to do some more research.
HiTMaNN 04-07-2005, 09:28 AM Sort of like seven stock isnt it? But im assumings its ONLY for the 8's. Unless it was held on the west i wouldnt come.
Horse 04-07-2005, 09:34 AM It would be for 8's. If anyone has a better more centralized place to hold the event I am open to ideas?
dazygirl415 04-07-2005, 09:51 AM I'd totally be interested. We're trying to do something like that here in TX for regional owners (check out this thread for more info if you're interested: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=55328). Of course this is only a small chunk of RX8 owners, but I'm stoked! It would be even cooler to get 8's from all over the country!
dazygirl415 04-07-2005, 10:00 AM How about somewhere in the middle of the country? St. Louis?
Horse 04-07-2005, 05:35 PM If you know of a road course track we could use, the only reason why I suggest VIR is cause I go there all the time and know the people there and it is great complex.
No More Oldsmobiles 04-07-2005, 09:24 PM I might be interested, but I'll say right off that my days off are Sundays and Mondays, which often limits my weekend plans.
Horse, does VIR have driving schools for racing noobs who would just like to learn a bit more about handling an 8? (In fact, I can't even call myself a racing noob because I've never started. See my user name.)

Yes it does, I have done the Skip Barber Racing School out there before, it is a great program and there are alot of other schools that utilize there track. Check out the skip barber site there program is pretty cool: www.skipbarber.com
Horse 04-08-2005, 08:23 AM Guys I have got alot of big plans, but of course I can't promise anything till I get more people on board. I plan to have alot of people come out and demo there cars, I hope to try and get Speedsource, K&N, and JIC as some to get there RX-8s out there. I also have plans to get some RX-8s out there that we haven't seen yet, ie. prototype cars! I am going to talk to the VIR guys today so I can go ahead and get this thing underway.
Horse 04-08-2005, 09:07 AM I have prepared a sort of base map of operations for the event. Basicly we will have the North Course open to us and everything in red is what I have written in.
Razpewton 04-08-2005, 09:23 AM There is also the RX-8 Brotherhood of the Dragon event 2005, slated for September 7 through the 11th. This was an awesome event last year and promises to be even bigger this. Vendor's booths, show and shines, food, socializing and awesome mountain country.
Many sponsors are coming onboard with support and doorprizes. I don't think there's a track up there in the mountains, but the scenary is awesome and the running of the Dragon's Tail was an experience to remember. The Awards Banquet Saturday evening should prove to be quite interesting. :D :D
11 miles ~ 318 curves!
Ask Elara....she pwn3d the Dragon! :)

Yes, I plan on attending. Did you know that the RX-7 guys are doing one there this weekend, calling it the 1st ever Rotary event at Tail of The Dragon. I would love to have you guys get on board and support the event and maybe even help out. I see all these events in each region, where owners from each region join together and hold events, well I want to do the same thing except I want the country to join together and attend. I know most likely it won't attract that many but I am hoping for a large event.

They can name their event whatever they want, BUT THE DRAGON HAS ALREADY FELT THE WRATH OF THE ROTARY!! :D :D :D
As far as helping with your event, my plate is full, but I will provide you with whatever webspace you need to keep things organized as long as you feed me all the data. I'll even whup up some graphics to suit.
Additionally, I'll donate a Best in Show award if your event hosts a voting-for-the-best-looking-car thing, and etch your logo on it if your want.
Good luck on your event!
Horse 04-08-2005, 03:54 PM That would be great man, I really appreciate it. I'll keep you updated.
Horse 04-14-2005, 09:14 AM looks like it want be happening this summer, unless you guys want to do it on a weekday, because they are all booked up.
